Dragon attacks in cities

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 7:08 pm

They need to have a dragon attack in cities like whiterun, i mean a small wall like that won't stop a dragon. I know why they didn't, to many civilians would die, frame rate issues, and what not, but i mean it would be cool if you ask me, thoughts?

Actually, they will attack Whiterun. The chances of an attack in the walled Cities is very low, but it can happen.

Ive been attacked in EVERY CITY. whiterun and riften are rarest, but they DO happen. Yes whiterun and riften too. Play long enough and you will see. Granted its only happened twice in witerun and once in riften, but it happens just the same. Solitude and markarth are much more frequent and yes, a lot of people die.

I've had dragons attack Riften and Windhelm before.

Yeah just take a look at the places in the CK and you will see a lot of markers for a dragon to land on buildings. :)

all towns have a chance, but i think whiterun has a very, very, very low chance.

i already had attacks in solitude, windhelm and riften. to count only the walled cities.

I have killed a dragon that attacked inside Riften, but never inside any other walled city.

Have also killed them many times at the stables outside Riften and Windhelm, and down near the crossroads where the bridges are outside Whiterun.

I have never seen a dragon get anywhere near either Markarth or Solitude, except for the one time I started a ruckus in Markarth and called Odahviing. I was having... a bad day, lol, and that Vigilant of Stendarr simply would NOT leave me alone.

The closest to Solitude was one that attacked near the Haafingar Stormcloak camp.

Aside from the potential loss of NPC life, I think it would be neat to see one actually fly in and attack the interior of one of the big cities. I tend to think of them as "safe zones" and when I have a house there I often change out of my armor and into regular clothes to run errands and do shopping. I always take one weapon but usually leave any followers at home so having a dragon suddenly swoop down would really spice things up.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing based on the fact that if I'm in regular clothes I'm gonna have to rely on ranged attacks and shouts and just let the guards and citizens handle any up close and personal fighting.

I have been having much better luck using bows against dragons this time around, mainly because over time I've just gotten better at the mechanics of aiming and firing and also because I was in lower level armor for much of my early game, since I started the CW almost immediately and wanted to wear my GI issued uniform while I was still on active duty. I improved it as much as I could but I still got killed a couple times in melee attacks. So I got myself a strong melee follower and learned to hang back. Now the bow is the first thing I go to unless they're right on me before I know what's happening.

I've had one attack Windhelm, and one attack Riften.
I think the issue is space. Most walled cities just don't have the space for a dragon to land - in Windhelm, for example, the dragon landed on one building flew in a circle and then landed on that exact same building. It did this a few times. But it definitely can happen - there's just a low chance of it happening.

I have seen a dragon attack in Solitude. Also, the Open Cities mod should allow more dragon attacks in the cities.

I have heard that Dragons could attack in any city, but this far I have seen that to happen only in Riften, Morthal and Dawnstar.

all 9 hold's major city as well as small towns such as rorikstead are prone to dragon attacks. Hell, there is a spawning ground for dragon just 1km away on a hill in rorikstead.

I have been attacked by dragons in every town in this game.

To the point now that I won't Fast Travel to a city or town ever again, unless I save first. Then I will reload if I see a dragon, go somewhere else, fight the thing, then go to the town I was going to in the first place.

Yes those small villages often have dragon attacks. I have seen that in Rorikstead, Riverwood, Shor's Stone and Kynesgrove. For me it seems that Rorikstead and Kynesgrove both have dragon attacks far more often than any other villages in the game.

Dragon attacked have been so common in Riften in both my play throughs that the city is just about empty on the ground level. It's happened several time inside Solitude too. The smaller towns have all been attacked. Winterhold, about a dozen times. Windhelm also once but it didn't fall dead in the city. But, for me, never in Whiterun.

I have fought off two dragons that attacked Solitude at the same time. Both inside the walls. Also fought off dragons in Marthal, Whiterun and Riverwood. I find I'm more in a panic with dragon attacks in cities due to the fact they WILL kill important NPC. And you gotta be careful of your shouts and attacks cause you can hit NPC which adds a bounty.
