Dragonborn Armour and Weapons II

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 2:40 am

I didn't realize how big the gap was either until I actually started typing the lists. Skyrim even surpasses Morrowind in base amount, though Morrowind offers considerbly more customization by virtue of it's 11 primary equip slots. (I think 15 if you count accessories)

In an unrelated note, Dragonborn is going to have a hard time topping anything that looks as amazing as [Dawnguard Spoiler] http://images.uesp.net/c/c4/SR-icon-weapon-Dragonbone_Greatsword.png
As soon as I bought dawnguard, I immediately started making dragonbone swords.

its like... totally impossible to wear more then 1 ring... totally... impossible. Wish we could have 5 ring fingers.

Going for an 80's mobster look are we? I miss all the Morrowind equip slots tho I miss the ability to wear robes over my armor the most.

the two-handed dragonbone sword looks so badass. Best looking two-handed weapon in game.

The one-handed unfortunately looks just meh. Chillrend is by far the best looking one-handed sword in the game imo.

So what artifacts do you think we will see in this game?
I would not mind an alternative warhammer, and actually some two handed artifacts to chose from.

Dragonbone Cuirass and the Lords Mail would be pretty cool. It would also be pretty amusing if Skull crusher made an appearance. I could also see Chrysamere somehow making it in if the Lords Mail was in too. Boots of the Apostle would make an interesting addition considering it's connection to Tiber Septim.

Tbh, I do prefer Daedric Claymore over the Dragonbone Claymore. But Dragonbone Claymore still looks badass.

Dragonbone Cuirass

I think that would be covered with the new Dragonbone stuff we can craft.

Honestly I think oblivion might have had equal or less, vanilla to vanilla.
Oblivion had more unique stuff.

I'll have to disagree here. Sorry.

~Edit~

For example, Skyrim has more Daedric Artifacts than Oblivion.

Oblivion only has like 16 (If counting CV's Mask and Umbra as two seperate ones). Skyrim will be 18. (Hircine's Ring, Mehrunes Razor, and that Axe from CV's quest being the ones that Oblivion don't have).

I know, right? I made a two handed character just to thrust some imperial scum with that big ol' beauty. I'm sure dragonborn will have some sixy weapons.
Heh, must've been the nostalgia talking...

Never realised there were that many in skyrim, I should have a bit more of a look around!
Happens to the best of us. And judging from the posts in this forum, I'd dare say you aren't the only one, lol.

Nope, that's a negative, Nancy. Try again.

I actually have to agree with him... Kinda. Oblivion had far fewer unique looking items. But the enchanted loot variety was absolutely immense, because of the large amount of spell effects in the game.

I'd really like to see Skyrim incorporate items with double-enchantments into the loot pools. It'd definitely allieviate some of the "Item Fatigue" that happens when you see these fairly boring enchanted items.

If you mean unique as in enchantments, then I have no idea. I found a whole bunch on both.

Oblivion wasn't limited to one enchantment slot (For all intents and purposes) though. You just need to pay a visit to the Oblivion and Skyrim "Generic Magic Apparel" lists on Wiki to see how insane the difference is.

Skyrim's General Magic items, while sorely lacking in meaningful variety, also take kind of a formulaic approach to enchantments, and this blandness sinks even on to the names of the items as well.

Probably worth Adding that Skyrim's enchanted items are actually more useful though.-

Enchanted apparel and weapons can make someone over powered really easily in Skyrim. I found a 70% fire resistance amulet and a Amulet of Articulation. The fire resistance amulet made fire attacks do no damage, with the other magic resistance apparel i had on. The Amulet of Articulation made me persuade anyone almost all the time. Have no idea how i found it. Think the enchantments are limited and fine. Maybe a better shout enchantment would be good. 100% shout enchantment. Woot!

Amulet of Articulation is a reward for becoming the master of the Thieves Guild.

I could still actually see it being a unique item. Not only do you have the lore to back it up, you also have a unique design and enchantment. I envision it as being very similar to how the Ebony Mail resembles a regular ebony cuirass but is noticeably different and equally bad ass at the same time. However, if they designed it after the one in Morrowind; I would be very impressed. This is all just pure speculation and conjecture however; I would still be pleasantly surprised if they threw it in.

Stalhrim will likely be the strongest base weapons-armor in the game. Surpassing Daedric and Dragonbone. The Caveat might be, that Stahlrim can't benefit from any Smithing perk, meaning Dragonbone, Daedric, Glass and perhaps even Elven would surpass it with proper smithing investments. Of course, I could be wrong there.
I'm guessing there will simply be a very limited supply of the material, it wouldn't make much sense if we could craft these items but not temper them.
A full suit of tempered ebony armor requires 22 igots. A tempered one-handed weapon would add another 2 or 3. If we assume similar amounts are required for Stahlrim it could be a real limitation. Unless Stahlrim acts like the blade of woe and requires no material for tempering... wait a second the blade of woe kinda looks like its made from Stahlrim.

I never said we wouldn't be able to temper them. I simply said it wouldn't benefit from a perk for the +100% effect. (At least I think I said that, if not, it's what I meant)

I know you guys have said repeatedly that there's files for both heavy and light armor versions, but in the recent screen [censored] of Stahlrim, it does rather look like it's Heavy armor. A mix of padded armor beneath Stahlrim plates.

Why is Stahlrim likely to be strongest? Is there a source for that or is it just an estimate?

Updated the OP with the new official screenshots! Personally I don't like the look of the Stalhrim helmet shown, and I was hoping Stalhrim armour would look a lot better really. Bonemold is quite awesome though.

EDIT: Also this sentence from the official site seems to give us an identity to our "Spectral Dragon Armour": "Wield new shouts and spells including Dragon Aspect – allowing you to summon the inner power of a dragon to deliver colossal blows and strengthen other shouts."

I remember someone speculating about it being able to strengthen other shouts and indeed it does! :P
