Is Dragonborn better than dawnguard

Post » Thu Dec 06, 2012 7:42 pm

I wanna know if dragonborn is worth getting right away? I got dawnguard and felt it wasn't worth 20 dollars it was also bad how it did not expand the map. How is dragonborn compared to dawnguard and are the armors good better then dragonbone and daedric?

I really liked DG for the magic part, even though I am not a vampire lover, but DB is alot better in my book.

It had like 7 spells, most of them having to do with either attacking undead or healing them. The others were just useless summons.

I prefer Dragonborn, simply because Dragonborn has elements that instinctively appeal to me as a player, and Dawnguard didn't cater to my personal buttons. Doesn't mean that Dawnguard was bad.

They're different. Each has its own merits. Dawnguard's main quest was hellabetter overall, more details, deeper story, better and more characters and more diverse areas (pertaining to teh MQ), but DBs was a bit tighter and Apocrypha trumps just about anything. BUT, DB is not about becoming a vampire or vanquishing them any more than it is about being Dragonborn and facing Miraak. DB is about Solstheim, the people and places, the rich sides and easter eggs, the much better bit players. In that narrow way, DG was better. The main quest was a better story, and the player was afforded much more attractive vampire and werewolf decisions. But you can't stack MQs, and player "class" mods (ww/vamp vs. new db shouts and HM's powers) against each other and leave it at that. In a broader and more general sense, in about every other way possible, DB is much better. So much better, in fact, that you can easily overlook the MQ and zero flesh out of the big bad, and not getting more gamechanging newness like vamp lord and improved ww. Don't get me wrong, Darkfall Caverns, Forgotten Vale, AWESOME places, and the throwback Snow Elves, great stuff there, but Dawnguard was a quest pack, predominantly. Dragonborn is a complete expansion, a complete addition, a mini-Skyrim or a new tenth hold.
