Dragonborn DLC exclusivity? #2

Semantics does matter when a word can change the whole meaning of a sentence.

Semantics w/o context is nothing more then a stawman or at least a red herring. There really is no point in using similes if the whole point of them is to give context to something that is in fact, not similar at all or off point/subject.

Has anyone bothered to tweet or email Bethesda and ask whether or not its part of the 30-day exclusive deal or not?

That is where they seem to respond at least somewhat directly. So yeah that would be a good idea for someone who isn't a dinosaur like me and actually uses twitter to ask.

I don't think it would be too much of a bother for Bethesda to come in here and say, "We have only announced this for the Xbox 360". I feel that the fact that they have only named the price in MS Points speaks volumes but it would be great if they would just say their usual. "We have not announced this for any systems other then the 360" bit. I'm a PC player but I would just like confirmed what I already expect.

Honestly, I think the fact that they have not just come out and said it is, at least for the PC community, a positive. If it was an exclusive for the xbox, like the previous DLC, they would have, I would think, release such a announcement in the same way they did the other 2 times. Like I said in a previous post, I think this might have more to do with the PS3 then the PC, because it is no secret that Skyrim doesnt work all that great on the PS3's architecture.

Never heard the deal was for one year after release exactly. Is there a source for that?

Can't find it, but it's relatively well known. Of course, it could very well be a case of 'my friend heard from a friend that his cousin read...'.

Let me start off with the fact that I hate these types of debates, because in the end we all (Xbox, PC, Ps3) get screwed in one way or another.

When the PC gets an Xbox port and the PS3 doesn't get it at all despite promises to the contrary, how exactly does the Xbox owner get screwed? If this turns out to be a 30-day Xbox exclusive then Bethesda have explicitly lied to their customers.

1. I think that Bethesda can release its games and DLC when it wants. If it loses out on Christmas sales for PC or PS3, that's its problem.
2. Trying to sue them for not releasing their own games or add ons is rather pointless. Suppose I was an eccentric fast food chain owner who refused to open any stores in, say, South Carolina (but opened them in the other 49 states). Could a person from South Carolina sue me for refusing to open a store in his state? Of course not.
3. Be that as it may, I think they've got a tiger by the tail, keeping PS3 users in the dark while happily popping out 360 DLC after 360 DLC. And the longer you pull, the angrier the tiger gets. And the more savagely he claws you when you finally let go.
That being said, I sincerely hope that all retaliation against Bethessda, if there's no PS3 DLC, is strictly NON-VIOLENT, LEGAL, and limited to NOT BUYING THEIR STUFF.

That is a good anology, but I think this is better. Bethesda is like Cell, and us PS3 players are like Vegeta charging up his Final Flash, the longer Bethesda waits the more time we have to charge the blast, until we release it. If they had told us early on that we are not getting the DLC we would have gotten mad and our blast would have done little to no damage. But they have waited so long now that our blast is going to [censored] [censored] up when we release it and they are in for a world of hurt.
