Dragonborn DLC exclusivity? #2

Post » Tue Nov 06, 2012 12:14 pm

Yeah you are because you said you had 10 when you actually have 23. 10 is not 5. 20 is not 10. 30 is not 15. 40 is not 20. 50 is not 25. 60 is not 30. 70 is not 35. 80 is not 40. 90 is not 45. 100 is not 50. 3 is not 2.
:turned: Really now? They asked if I had 10, I do have 10 as well as an extra 23. If you cant get that then whatever. Think what you will.

Bethesda is under no legal obligation to make this exclusive unless the agreement they had has conditions that directly exclude Hearthfire. If no such conditions exist, it counts.

2 may be in 3, but 3 is not in 2, and Bethesda is under no obligation to provide the additional 1 when the legally-binding agreement only specifies 2. If they choose to do it, it is their own choice.

I think the problem is that the "first two" DLC as exclusive information was provided without a qualifying statement. As such it was logically interpreted to be an exact statement regardless of how it was intended. Todd might have meant "at least two" but, unfortunately for him, he didn't say that. I think this will be an important lesson that one should be very careful to always use qualifiers if a number one is giving is not intended to be the absolute and exact value of something.

My question is not "when do we get it?" But "do we get it?"

Content in the patch suggests that the PS3 issues may be resolved or nearing resulution. If they give us PS3 users Dawnguard and Hearthfire (both FAR PAST the 30 days and therefore fair game) right away, I can do just fine waiting an extra month for Dragonborn.

If we get nothing, I will be furious, and will retaliate by never giving Bethesda my business again.

XBL market place also says "Add-ons" for both DLC.

Maybe they didn't mention PC because then they're not tied down to releasing it, guessing Valve are more relaxed when it comes to release dates?

They'd better sort their [censored] out. And also for you poor PS3 players. Seriously disappointed.

Of course, I understood that part. I didn't understand that they could keep it hidden still, because if they couldn't hide it then it'd be odd/mean to add the dlc menu but keep it empty.

Oh right, my bad. :P

2, 3, 3,000,000 it's irrelevant. The point is how it's interpenetrated. If I tell you your first two cups of coffee are free, I'm under no obligation to give you a third for free but you sure as hell are going to expect the third for free. If Bethesda release Dragonborn for the Xbox first then they purposefully and willfully mislead the PC and PS3 users regardless of what they legally meant.

okay, what about this.

Mike: "How many donuts will you bring to the meeting?" (How many DLCs will be exclusive)
Tom: " I will bring 10." (2)

Mike expects 10 donuts (2 Exclusive DLCs) to be brought to the meeting by Tom.
Tom then shows up at the meeting with 15 donuts (3 exclusive DLCs).

Did Tom lie? No, he did infact bring 10 donuts. But he also brought more.

Listen, I'm not saying it's right that Bethesda wasnt more specific in their wording. But they did not lie with their statement.

[Thought I'd post here, didnt see the reply until it was locked]

That's moronic. More specificity is required for different situations. Would you be angry if a doctor told you you had 3 months to live, when he actually meant ten years? After all, he isn't lying. Bethesda never said "at least" 2 DLCs. They said two DLCs, meaning precisely two.

This thread is pretty much about poor communication. If anything, that strengthens this :P

I remember people on the forums were raging because Pete Hines said there were no plans for PC/PS3 versions of Dawnguard. Not the best choice of words.

It's possible. Of course an official word on whether or not this is another timed exclusive would certainly clear that up.

However they did not even mention the other DLCs for the other platforms until the exclusivity period was up, so if it is, they apparently can't say so.

Official release is the (second) beta release, they're no different.
Basically the betas aren't real betas. CBA to explain again.

Acronyms are not my strong suit.

Anyways, in that case the PS3 might not receive the patch at all. They could receive another patch and be called something else.

Nobody knows for sure. Heck, 1.07 (1.06) was the one that setup the Hearthfire DLC. Is Hearthfire on PS3 yet? No.
The 1.06 patch was supposed to setup the Dawnguard stuff, and PS3 eventually got this patch in their 1.07 (1.06) patch. Is Dawnguard on PS3 yet? No.

They didn't mention other platforms, but they confirmed exclusivity in tweets and responses to official blog posts by Gstaff.

Probably already said I'm sure, but I don't have time to read this whole thread. From what I understood, there were two timed exclusive DLC's for Xbox - so, Dawnguard and Hearthfire adds up to two, unless some mathematician proves me wrong....like that scientist did with Pluto.

I don't think that was his point  ... The very fact that you are arguing over what Bethesda meant says a lot about their communication doesn't it?

The anger would stem from the fact that the doctor caused you a lot of stress by misleading you.

Never said I did, did I? It is unfortunate, but it is not like Beth did this to PS3 users on purpose, so I disagree with the "[censored] treatment" comment of yours.

There isn't a requirement for [censored] treatment that says it has to be on purpose.

They've had years to figure this out and still haven't.
