I'm more scared of giants, trolls and sabre tooth tigers than dragons.

when you think about it the real problem is that they have to make the dragons land so that melee players stand a chance of killing them, otherwise a dragon would just [censored] the giant from the sky, so if the dragon stayed airborne more it would even it out.

How long the dragon stays airborne doesn't matter considering we have dragonrend to use.

My two cents:
-Make Dragons immune to stagger/stun
-Boost their resistance to magic and physical damage. For example, arrows shooted by guards should bounce on their scales doing very low damage.

Dragons currently are buffed up cliffracers. You either go through tedious work to kill them or they hang around not doing much except disabling fast travel. Or killing you while you try to talk to a quest npc.

Giants are actually waaay easier to kill than Dragons... Try to solo them both on master difficulty. You can dodge giant's attacks easily while you can't dodge or escape from the dragon's breath exept if you hide behind a rock or building.

Personally I think even the most basic Dragon should have between 20 & 50 times the hit points they have now. Their attacks should also be nigh on 'insta death'. In summary, they should be overpowered.

The fights should force you to use cover and your brain/outside the box ideas to overcome them. I don't think we should really be considering fighting them until we're level 20+. I never do the main quest in Bethesda's games until much later anyway so this would be good for me.

Edit: I appreciate that for the majority of players this would be overkill and difficult to the point that it detracts from the fun they're having. What can I say I'm a svcker for overly difficult fights.

I'm about level 12 and apart from that first dragon I have not managed to even knock a dragons health down one third of the way!

I think Giants should do less damage. To compensate they could have more resistance to damage if needed.

If he's standing in front of a dragon while it breaths on him, well obviously he's dying. But its so easy to just dodge behind rocks and stuff and fill the dragon with arrows.... Or just use a ward spell while hacking at the dragons head when it lands, like I do.

Dragon-Born? I think it would've been better to have been Giant-Born!

I'm level 11 and have killed 3 dragons outside the one you have to kill in Whiterun as part of the main quest. I have 2 dragon words, and a TON of scales and bones, Which I store in Jorvaskr (hoping the chest there inside the door is safe...)

Stating what level you are and how many dragons you've killed/not killed WITHOUT specifing the difficulty level, imho, has no sense :P
Personally, I've always played TES games on hardest difficulty and @lvl 14, melee assassin, on Master difficulty I found Dragons fights reeeeally challenging.

My two cents:
-Make Dragons immune to stagger/stun
-Boost their resistance to magic and physical damage. For example, arrows shooted by guards should bounce on their scales doing very low damage.

Quoting myself and adding:
-cleave attacks for when they're surrounded by multiple opponents on the groung

I found another dragon today and killed it quite easily, it attacked riverwood, sat itself on top of a house and sprayed frost at me. There must be no predicting what kind of dragon you'll get.

Oh and I played on second to hardest difficulty. I was playing on master but fights seemed to just drag on and not be any harder so I knocked it down one step.

To be honest, I think what dragons need is a bit more of variety. They should be able to make a tail sweep, and they should eat more npcs/creatures that they do now. Also grab more npcs and make them hit the ground. Right now they don't do such things, or they do it rarely.

If any mod needs to be made its to tweak the values for low level or indicate that the low (sub lvl 15 dragons) are baby dragons or something. Elder Dragons are something else entirely.

Playing at master, lvl 42, Dragons scare the hell out of me, way more than Giants, i lose 300hp a hit from melee with 700 armor....giants, well i could toe to toe one with an iron dagger.

A point of data:
On my Master level game, the giant does not one hit. The battles between them are long. I don't have enough samples to be sure (maybe 3), but the giant does seem to be winning. Also, if the dragon uses cold breath, the giant seems unharmed.

I don't think they need more hit points. I do think they need about 10x the damage output though. I have absolutely no fear of Dragons; I will literally stand right in front of them as they attack and not have to heal once. More HP will just make the fights even more tedious (waiting for them to land can be a real pain).

In my opinion I think dragons should be able to kill pretty much anyone below level 50 in one hit... they're dragons, after all. You should definitely be able to kill them with enough persistence, but you should not be able to just stand there getting roasted and swatted by a dragon and its fire breath, swinging away with your sword. Giant damage should be halved, and dragon HP should be multiplied by 1.5, as well.

I just love browsing the forums and seeing all the issues people have that I can only comment with "I told you so!" n_n
Yep, same here. I said this back in the summer, and surprise surprise - it happened.

I'm more scared of giants, trolls and sabre tooth tigers than dragons.
Which is just soooo messed up on so many levels. I'd rather be using cheats to figure out how kill the damn dragons then being able to swat them down like, someone else's comparison, cliffracers.

It's not their health that's an issue, it's their pathetic damage. Every time I see a dragon my first thought should be "oh [censored] I need to RUN" instead it's "lol easier than a sabre cat"... :|

Yeah, up dragons HP and DMG, I want to earn my shouts. Now it's basically, "LYYYDIA go kill that dragon for me so I get a new shout please!" then I plant my axe in it's face once she shot it full of arrows.

Or a horse kicks it to death (happened).

I think it's ok for some dragons to be easier to defeat, as there are many varieties. However, it does feel that most of the dragons are too easy. The primary reason for this is that the dragons occassionally hover or come to the ground to fight, which seems ridiculous. If I were some intelligent, flying, machine of death I would constantly move and rain down firey/snowy/shouty death from above. That said, that would royally screw melee specialists in the game. I suggest the following (knowing no specifics on how the dragons are currently implemented):

- Give the dragons a stamina stat that attacking and shouting drains during combat. Stamina does not regenerate while they are in flight, only while on the ground.
- Dragons prefer to attack from the air
- Increase the damage of their breath attacks

This way, it is a greater challenge to archers and destruction mages, as you have to carefully plan your shots, as opposed to just waiting for them to hover or land for a large period of time and unleash ridiculous damage. It would also reward use of stamina poisons, which typically go unused (although maybe I'm just a terrible player and don't know any better). Finally, it would make the fight more strenuous and tactical for melee specialists, as you will have to weather a plethora of breath attacks, waiting for your foe to tire so that you can run in for the kill (hopefully).

Thoughts?
