Dragons are too easy?

At master difficulty, without an entire town to help you, I find it pretty hard.

Am I the only one that thinks that dragons are too easy to kill? I mean they are dragons, the ultimate mythical beast! They should be able to give me a huge challenge! Yet I find that Giants and other boss mobs are harder to kill than a dragon.

What do you guys think about this?

easy?
do you have difficulty at maximum setting?
are you playing the game as a melee character?

if you asnwer any of those questions "no", try it then say its easy

I've killed about 12 dragons with my spellsword dark elf (1 Bone dragon, 7 Normal dragons and 3 Blood dragons) and they're all pretty easy to kill, you just have to know what you are doing. I think mages will have a difficult time cause the dragons are magic resistent.

I am terribly curious about all the people saying they are easy... I mean I consider myself pretty good at TES mechanics and stuff... but am finding dragons aswell as many other enemies very chalenging...

can the people who say they kiled so many dragons so easily share their character buildups and tactics?
cuz dragons are a new thing.. Im prly missing something (assuming they play at max difficulty ofc)

I have no problem with the dragons who actually have a decency to land every once in a while. But what is my melee character supposed to do when the dragon keeps flying and shouting in circles around me? :(

Breton pure mage, level 19. I've fought several dragons without help, and I agree they're too easy. I've yet to die or even get reduced to half health while fighting one and usually kill them in less than 2 minutes.

It is a bit funny that I charge bravely into battle when I see a dragon in the distance, but need to run like a girl if I ever run into a snow bear.

I have found it depends on the situation, if you encounter a dragon in a big open area it is more difficult than in a smaller somewhat enclosed area since they are so mobile.

Ummm, try fighting a Blood Dragon alone on Master Difficulty with no potions and only a steel sword and imperial armor in the tundras of Reach, where there is no cover, and then tell me that they are easy.

I'm not on max difficulty, I think everything is fine minus the Dragons.

Also, I focus on Shock for destruction magic, my usual tactic is to dual-charge a bolt of lightning as I have a perk that will cause these combined spells to stagger an enemy back. When the dragon goes to attack, I make sure to give him a blast of lightning and his attack cancels since he staggers. I just follow this pattern and they're dead in two minutes or less. I'm level 19 and a lot of these fallen consist of the Blood Dragon type as I resumed the main questline later on, and most of my fights have been in places with no cover.

dragons scale with your level.

blood dragons are much much much tougher than your regular "Dragon".

I have fought 3 dragons, at level 20, 20 hours in, using an Imperial Shield/Sword warrior/archer/sneaker/smither.

You can't judge dragon difficulty by the first dragon fight because thats more like a tutorial fight. you can actually not do any damage to it and the npcs will kill it for you.

There are tactics for fighting dragons that can help a lot. For instance, as an archer.. you need some kind of good cover. like a house or a huge rock. always have the rock between you and the dragon because it should protect you from his fire/frost breaths. I have never really taken a swing at dragons, all i ever needed as my bow and arrows.

It's also worth noting that i had my companion, Lydia do a lot of the tanking work.

That being said, try fighting a dragon out in the open, without cover... there's no way youll come out alive.

Melee, of course, get up close, and just hit the dragon with your shield before it can attack, and hit it with your sword, shield bash will also stop it from breathing fire.

When it flies, straff in the opposite direction its moving like the wind while still aiming at it, and sprint to get away from fire, all the while pulling out a bow and firing.

When it lands, charge it, just barely dodging its fire/ice.

Bam, win with no magic.

But is insanely hard.

And works roughly 1% of the time.

But it is epic...

I think they should be a little tougher, I'd like to be scared when I see one :/
That said, my build is a little OP for adept difficulty, but I don't really play elder scrolls for the challenge anyway.

I've only killed one dragon, the one where the Jarl tells Irideth that it isn't a glory mission, and then she tells her men that they will have the glory of killing it. The other dragons I've seen are simply named 'dragon' and arrows serve only to tickle their tummy and make their tum tum go yum yum. Then I die.

actually i find melee characters with shield mich easier to tackle dragons than pure mage type who has to maintain some distance. before i have some magic defense my mage character is so vulnerable to breadth. i got killed three times in the first dragon fight near whiterun.

with my melee character it was rly easy just close inand attack. when dragon shouts bash. dragon's melee wasnt ao deadly as its breadth.

For my mage stoneflesh, ice blast and sparks staff, and with somewhere to take cover = dragon dead.

Your goal is to get Dragon Souls to learn shouts to progress through the game.

If you aren't able to kill the dragon you won't be able to progress and learn new shouts..

Then again, put it on Master Difficulty if you really want the greatest challenge.

second one It was just me Lydia and a flame atronarch
dragon got me down to half health, healed up, killed the thing and had plenty of health to spare

playing mage pretty much, though I do have a mace with a fire enchantment on it

My main complaint is that they're very easily distracted by everything else in the area. The first (non-quest) dragon I encountered was on the coast, and I couldn't keep it's attention at all. It just kept strafing the open water and small islands. I guess it was going after fish and mudcrabs? After 15 minutes of picking at it with arrows when it came near enough, I finally gave up and walked away, leaving it to play with the fish. The next two I encountered were similar, in that they focused mostly on the nearby troll and giant. The giant kicked the dragon's butt when it made the mistake of landing.

I just wish that popping a few arrows in it's head would make it think, "Hey, maybe I should focus on that guy instead of these fish".

As far as difficulty, I'm currently more afraid of the trolls and giants than I am of dragons, as the dragons go down far more easily. Maybe they scale more than the trolls and giants?

If you can get something between you and their breath attacks, they're not too bad. A little time consuming, but not too hard.

Out in the open though... pwnzors.
