Dragons are too easy?

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 5:42 pm

Am I the only one that thinks that dragons are too easy to kill? I mean they are dragons, the ultimate mythical beast! They should be able to give me a huge challenge! Yet I find that Giants and other boss mobs are harder to kill than a dragon.

What do you guys think about this?

I'm gonna go guess Dragons scale more with your levels and Giants don't at all.
This seems logical to me and makes it weaker Dragons perfectly valid, just hope it's true. ;)

Depends on the person. My friend playing as a pure mage got slaughtered by his second dragon, whereas I have slain every one of them that has challenged my Orc Warrior.

I agree. It's really because there are typically others helping you. If the dragon attacked the player solely, it would be more of a challenge. However, that wouldn't really make sense. I always hated games where allied NPC's were ignored because the victory condition for the enemy NPC's was player death. I thought they'd at least have more Health, and tail whip attacks.

EDIT: I'm playing thief/assassin/archer, so I don't have to get close and personal.

The first dragon was somewhat easy because

you have help.

But the one I encountered later was much harder to deal with

on my own.

I think they are perfect! I've only fought one but it wasn't impossibly tough (it only killed me 3 times) and it wasn't easy.

I'm playing.... whatever I want! No character classes FTW!!

Good luck.

Never died or even got on low health against a Dragon 1v1. But maybe that's because I play incredibly lame. Whenever a Dragon lands I get a few swings in, otherwise I outheal him with my restoration.

I think dragons are only easier than other bosses because they're all very similar. As soon as you face a few and start building an optimal strategy to fight them with your character, all you need to do is repeat it each time.

They can also be a lot easier if the terrain is good, I know for me, one good pillar to block their breath weapon and it's a relatively easy fight. I would not stay in one place fighting one in an open plain though.

It's all about strategy. I'm fine with them. My pure mage is level 10 and been involved with 3. The only Destruction Spell she has, is the one you get at the start. She has never cast a single spell of Destruction, nor will she ever.

Dragons are hard on Adept difficulty for my Breton pure mage, if only because he runs out of magicka and potions and the dragons still standing so his only option is really to run away screaming "FFFFFUUUUU-" until he gets magicka back. It is not a fun existence.

I'm level 5 so far, playing a Spellsword type of dude (short sword in one hand, fire in the other :D), and I just get destroyed unless I have copious amounts of healing pots.

I died to dragons a couple of times, when Ive faced them alone. Really depends on the terrain for me though, I need a rock or a thick tree or whatever else to block the damn fire, Im playing an assassin/thief, hitting them with arrows, trying to block fire with a tree doesnt always work though. So again, it can be relatively easy, or very hard. I wouldnt want to get caught out on an open plain by one of those bastard lizards.

My Altmer Mage has has barely had a problem with a dragon yet. Especially when using the Highborn Power, along with my other Majika restoring enchantments, to make Majika shoot back up. Then, all it takes is restoration when injured and constant destruction magic when they are air born and on the ground. And with companions? They just get even easier.

I've fought about 7 so far on my own and none but the second have killed me, and i've used pure melee for the last 5.

They are rather easy i can kill them in one landing on normal difficulty wheras Giants, Mammoths, Saber tooths, Ice Trolls and those bug things that hang around the falmer usually end up killing me.

I've kill'd about six dragons on my lvl 16 duel wielding nord. I wouldn't go so far as to say they're to easy due to the fact I have had close calls. However fight a blood dragon then say they're easy. I've only fought one in the middle of the ocean on a few clusters of ice floating around the ocean. Dangerous stuff.

Just killed my second dragon 1v1 using a bow and two handed sword and lots of running around. Was a tough fight but at the moment I cannot kill a Troll because I die in two hits and the Bandit Chief I encountered in Robbers Gorge killed me in 1 hit four times in a row until I lucked out and he bugged.

I guess some enemies scale better than others. There are so many variables in this game a lot depends on your build how tough the game is.

Oh, well... you have to find shelter, even a rock is sufficient if you can go from once side to the other. I summon a fire atronach to attack the dragon, it also diverts it's attention from you and it makes it easier to track the dragons movements (by monitoring the direction the atronach is looking).

I have the perk that apprentice conjuration spells only cost half the casting cost, so I have plenty of spare power for other spells without having to rely on potions.

They seem tough enough to me. I go through 5 health potions per dragon.

I don't know what you're talking about. When a dragon finds me, then it's time to run into a dungeon or I will soon be ash from their death breath.

Got wrecked by a frost dragon when I was all alone with my level 10 Dunmet assassin, but fire dragons are a piece of cake. I just wish I could actually hit them with arrows while they're in flight, but my reflexes are too slow. :P
