Dragons = Oblivion Gates: Don't Do the Main Quest and You Ne

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 7:02 pm

I am level 11 now and having a blast. I do not have any shouts yet because I have to go Bleak Falls Barrow which is early in the main quest. because of this I have yet to see a dragon.
I just wanted to let everyone know that if you want to avoid dragons for a while, this is the way to go. Side quests and exploring before doing Bleak Falls Barrow.

Hmmm ... I never thought of this myself, but it makes sense. Good catch!

I find myself wandering aimlessly around Skyrim at the moment.

I need to talk to the Graybeards, but I have like 20 other side-quests to do also.

Seems like everything I do open up a new quest. I keep getting sidetracked. But it's hard to ignore some of these quests.

In my OPINION, anyone who plays with dragons 'turned off' is just silly, they make a huge difference to the game both dynamically and aesthetically

It svcks because I want dragons and shouts, but I don't want to progress the main storyline just to get dragons in the wild.

Good tip.

As the counter argument, dragon bones and scales are big money, especially early on. Frost breath kicks ass.

Yeah, I don't think Dragons appear until you kill the one attacking Whiterun, because that is supposed to be the part where you figure out you can absorb dragons...

Why would you want to avoid dragons? They are amazing!

Oh god i can so relate to this.

I am a completionist. Every game i play i have to complete and see everything in the game, its just how i am. Skyrim is the first TES game i have played, and while i do like it, it can really annoy me when i have a hoard of sidequests and misc quests to do and they keep piling up and sidetracking me from doing the main questline :)

It annoys me and yet i like it  :banghead:

Also Dragons and Dragon shouts are great. I dont see the point in not doing the main quest at least until you talk to the Greybeards so you get more shout training. But thats just my opinion.

Ah well back to the game now. :D

I regret even starting the main quest to be honest. The whole dragonborn concept doesn't impress me at all. I have no interest whatsoever in using shouts. And dragons just annoy me.

People keep asking why I am avoiding dragons?

The game is perfect to me now. I am sipping it like a fine wine, or extended foreplay. I will get to the orgism soon enough...

I thought dragons weren't scripted and just flew around randomly?

They're nothing but an annoyance. I'd say they were this games version of Cliffracers, but Cliffracers would have torn the [censored] out of Skyrims dragons without breaking a sweat.

I'm actually doing something I've never done, I'm doing the main quest first. *DUN DUN DUNNNN* I'm actually getting sick of dragon fights, last night for the first time a dragon roared above and I, dare I say it? Groaned.

What's hilarious, in Fallout 3 there were the giant Behemoths but there were only 5 and did not respawn. And I always said why didnt Bethesda make them respawn. Now Skyrim has its epic giant creatures and I'm getting sick of them.

I was doing this too, it seems dragons don't appear until after the first one from the main quest, so if you wanna stay dragonless, don't see the jarl in whiterun.

And if Alduin is dead, how is he still going around to raise the dragons from the dead? Talk about a massive hole in the plot.

Not doing the MQ ok, but not activating dragons? Meh, ruins random encounters

Wait...So your saying even if i beat the MQuest there are still dragons flying about terrorizing everyone? Then what is the point?
