Dunmer and the Thalmor

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 11:02 pm

So I was wondering and i am not sure if this has already been posted but are the Dunmer part of the Aldmeri Dominion. I have only heard of wood elves and High Elves being apart of it.

So the Dunmer would they fight against them and join the empire or are they one for all and all for one.

Dunmer and Altmer don't exactly see eye to eye on anything. They would much more likely side with the Empire over the Dominion, but even that would be a stretch as they don't have much love for the empire either. With the current state of Morrowind, I don't imagine either side much cares if Morrowind was an ally or an enemy.

Well Dunmer aren't really in a position to be fighting in the wars between the empire and the Thalmor. Their homeland was mostly destroyed and then attacked by Argonians, so they're probably preoccupied with rebuilding and reclaiming lands from the lizards.

You can sorta see their "don't get involved" attitude in Riften, where the nords are annoyed that the local dunmer won't help the stormcloaks (or the imperials for that matter) in the civil war.

I think they would most likely take a neutral stance for much of the war, until one side made moves into their territory for strategic reasons.

Well the Dumner are in need of a new homeland(they have shown no sign, that I can see ,of retaking their old one in the last 200 years) so maybe some dumner could ally with the the Thalmor in exchange for land.

As far as I know the Altmer do not consider the dumner as low as the races of man but they are not fond of the dumner(the whole daedra worship thing does not sit well with them)

Thalmor vilifies the Dunmer but note that there are also a lot of Altmer who vilify the Thalmor.

If you are RPing Thalmor characters, it's either Altmer or Bosmer.

So the Dunmer stance is whats good for the motherland. If the Thalmor attack Morrowind we will join the empire to drive them out of Morrowind and thats it but if the Empire attacks we will join the Thalmor to drive the Empire out. Pretty much whats good for them.

There's not much left of good old "Morrowind" and since they're on the other side of the world, the remaining mainland population probably has other things on their mind.

But apart from that, I never really got to know what Altmer think of Dunmer in general - Do they look down on them? Are they disgusted?

Many Altmer look down on the Dunmer as inferior. The Thalmor embassy is full of copies of a book called "The Firsthold Revolt" which tells the tale of an Altmer revolt against the Dunmer queen of a city in the Summerset Isles.

Sorry to nitpick, but the correct answer is yes, the Dunmer are apart of the Thalmor. Apart means seperate, as in "take apart."

I'm playing a Dunmer, and get a lot of snarky comments from the Thalmor, including ones about "the superiority of elves." The Chimer (Dunmer prior to their transformation by Azura) left Summerset Isle after they decided to take up worship of the Daedra, and the Altmer were upset over them no longer worshipping the traditional Altmer gods.

The Dunmer intensely dislike the 'Aldmeri Dominion,' seeing as their entire history is due to them wanting to be separate and distinct from them. They refute the Altmer stance that the Aedra are their ancestors, and worship the Daedra instead - something the Altmer see as reprehensible. There's a reason they're on the other side of the Continent, and it's not wanderlust. The Dunmer would sooner take the side of any human - even the Nords - than that of the Thalmor.

No worries. Its just that I've seen it a lot on here, and it could get confusing. In fact made a few typos myself, cause I was bouncing between the wiki, youtube, and here.

Dunmers are daedra worshiping reminisence of chimers. They are more like orcs than altmers and bosmers.

The dunmeri are considered cursed and tainted by the Aldmeri.....and since the Thalmor are an extremist sect of the Altmer, it stands to reason that they dislike them even more. Religion, magical practice, politically, just about every cultural issue are almost diametric opposites. As I've said before, I wouldn't doubt that that the Hist borne invasion of Morrowind wasn't engineered by the Thalmor, magically. The dunmer were their greatest threat. They can live as long, and they -think- like elves. The concept of century long plotting is second nature to a dunmer; where a human would really have problems wrapping their mind around plans that won't come to fruition until their great grandchildren were aged advlts. Homeless and broken, the dunmer are now little threat to Thalmor plans.

Or at least =they= think so. If the Thalmor were responsible for the Argonian invasion by proxy, if that truth ever comes out, it would pull the dunmer in exile together into one cohesive unti. Hellbent on revenge. At all costs. And considering some of the daedra they willingly play marbles with, such a state would be........scary.

if anything the dunmer would side with the Khajit or bosmer in terms of military alliances. Dunmer are in the position of being a protectorate state

Thalmor want Tamriel in ruin so they can't be stopped when undoing it. Therefor taking out the Dunmer by (argonian) proxy makes perfect sense. I doubt the Dunmer would side with any side at all. They never were fully conquered by the Empire, far less then the Argonains did now. They do see humans as inferior. On the other hand the Thalmor are pretty much everything why they left the Aldmer long ago.

I severely doubt they would ever side with the beasts they used as slaves for centuries so no Khajiiti alliance. Same as with joining any Nords although being forced to live as refugees in Skyrim might have changed some minds on both sides. All around if anyone will take on the Thalmor it will be an unexpected faction. I doubt the Falmer will have the skill to retake the surface, they seem to much degenerated to hold the surface for long. The Akavir might not take kindly to the Thalmor plan of undoing the world. Akaviri or Sload are both powerful factions that could take on a war fatigued Thalmor Empire, those or the Maomer from the south, wouldn't be their first invasion. On the other hand, other elves might also become immortal again so not really mind their plans.

So technically the Dark Elves and the High Elves are the same race just different colors due to who they worshipped
