So... Dunmers on Solsteim

Post » Wed Jan 23, 2013 5:44 am

As a pc gamer, I have a question for the lucky 360 crowd who already have their hands on the first (imo) proper expansion to skyrim. What's been bothering a lot of people since Morrowind, was that dunmers were lacking their awesome trademark voices. Now, this was explained to be due to them living in a non ashen area of the world, which I guess makes sense.

However, as far as I'm aware, a large part of Solstheim is covered in Ash, due to Red Mountain errupting or something... Does this mean that the native Dunmers have "proper" Dunmer voices on Solstheim? I really hope so.

Their voices aren't classic, but there are other things that'll remind you of Morrowind.

I said basically the same thing, it doesn't make sense that with all the ash in the air that their voices are clear cockney instead of the raspy smokers of morrowind

Don't get hung up on the small details. Just leads to Spear Irrationality.

The voices? I'm assuming that's what you're talking about. I know they aren't classic and I know what the classics sound like, I was just saying that even though their voices aren't classic, there is other classic Morrowind things in this dlc.

OK since I missed out on the games that precede morrowind, what do the classics sound like?

I'm watching a tribute to the voice right now and it sounds pretty much the way it did in Morrowind.

When I said classics, I meant the Morrowind sounding, chain-smoker voices.

I don't think there is any voices in Arena or Daggerfall, just text. Edit: There are voices, but the only time I hear voices is when the guards are saying "halt!".

And what do you mean by that? I also happen to think that the way bethesda has done "spears" is either a complete missunderstanding of what people wanted, or just some cruel jape at spear lovers.

In any case, I actually think the morrowind style Dunmer voices are very important to their character and feel, which is why I would've loved to finally hear them in a newer game. I'm not saying it'll stop me buying the expansion.

So how is it that the raspy voice isn't the classic if it was one of if not the first voice they had? I mean I'm watching a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jG8OjKiGAvE
that has the same voice and it's in a game prior to Morrowind called "Adventures: Redguard".

To be quite honest, reading both of your messages.. you seem to agree with eachother, just saying. Witching that video makes me want the voices back even more >.<. Here's to hoping the Dunmers in TES online will have em.

When he says classic he's referring to the Morrowind voice. As in they're missing their classic voice, but other stuff from Morrowind other than the voice is returning.

Well how could I possibly have known that's what he meant when I was talking about the raspy voice to begin with and he said that it wasn't the classic voice?
Simply put it was a misunderstanding on my part.
