Dwarves and Snow elves.

For those who want to play Skyrim as a Falmer. Instructions are as follows:-

1. Create Dark Elf character.
2. Turn off monitor.
3. Turn volume to max so you can hear a fly fart at 500 yards.
4. Play Skyrim using sound only.
...And my wife said this wide-screen Braille monitor was a waste of money!

I thought that the nords forced the falmer underground, then lack of light blinded them but their other senses improved

Not quite. The Nords defeated the Falmer, who scattered after the Snow Prince was killed. They fled to the Dwemer for protection, but the Dwemer betrayed them and fed them something that led to them going blind and enslaved them. After years of being oppressed by the Dwemer, the Falmer fled deeper underground, waiting until the time was right to strike back at their former masters. But when the time came for them to attack, the Dwemer had already disappeared, and so the Falmer took over their dwellings, and prepared to make war with the surface world.

you forget that beth butchers lore and makes changes to the mechanics with new technology. Dwemer were average size in older games but thats probably due to problems shrinking them and making interactions with the world smooth.

Dwemer were intended to be short, the proof is in the tiny chairs and low beds found in dwemer ruins

The best proof that they're the same hight as anyone else is that dwemer armor FITS EVERYONE ELSE, if they were so short that would be untrue.

Just because I can make dwemer armor that fits me doesn't mean the dwemer was the same size.

They're in Morrowind as ghosts. They're roughly the same height as Imperials.

But someone said earlier that that could be due to the engine not supporting npc's of different height.

Umm....that's BS. The races had varying heights, with altmer, nords, and argonians (when not hunched) were the tallest races, in descending order, and the bosmer males were significantly shorter than everyone else.

Is there maormer in the game? And couldn't there be a small group of snow elves that weren't enslaved and have been living in hiding and haven't been affected and look like normal elves?

no they havent been in game yet. its a possibility, maybe in dawnguard we might encounter something...

Theres actually 2 dwarves in the game...in a certain mission involving a madman theres 2 dwarves seated next to him, you can tell by their small size and dwarven armor
The dwemer werent' small though. Apparently the giants were the ones who called them "dwarves". They were, however, most likely the size of a high elf (probably slightly smaller) in reality.
