DX11 silently removed

Post » Tue Apr 20, 2010 10:11 am

I thought this would be worth mentioning:
Ok so when the beta first came out (around the time when it got leaked) I downloaded it (not the leaked one) and started playing. I noticed insane graphics and decent game play, however after an update, I kept telling myself that the graphics got worse (saw more AA issues and less blur). I just didn't look as good as it did before. So I have come to the conclusion (of course after playing the final (broken) version) that they secretly removed DX11 to give more reputation to consoles. Xbox 360 and PS3 do not deserve this extinct PC exclusive. It was meant to be a PC game until EA bought Crytek and all went downhill from there. Sure, the campaign has some good moments and when multilayer matches work, they work. But with the huge list of bugs and lacking features.

Let me remind you last year, when I almost **** my pants for this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Kvl31g77Z8

Removed. Secretly removed. From every site.
I used to go on here:
https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/List_of_games_with_DirectX_11_support
all the time and check for Crysis 2 and believe me, it was on there with Cry Engine 3.

It's not so much about the gameplay issues (I did not encounter any campaign glitches), but more about the fact that Crytek has taken out the most important features which makes the wrecked pc platform stand out.

Quick word on the multiplayer:
I don't want to play the MP yet because I am still waiting for my XP and other unlockables which i was supposed to get. (Code redeemed but content not detected in game)

Please fix this game asap!

PS: Imagine if they would not have delayed the game back in December? What would it be like...

Uh, the PC had a beta (not the leak as you put it)? Source?

The beta was leaked early. So what's is your question?

Uh, I only know of a full game leak sometime ago. I am not sure what version you are talking about since you stated "not the leaked one".

No full version was leaked, but simply the beta with DX11 and sandbox.

No full version was leaked, but simply the beta with DX11 and sandbox.

The version that leaked was a buggy dev build that had the editor and it was pretty much the full game. Also, I read that DX11 was reported to not function in that build after renaming the exe to try and "trick" it. I am not really sure what you are talking about here, but I guess I am missing some info or something.

Hmm. If they dedicated the same team of people who were frantically trying to remove all evidence of a promise of dx11 to actually working on the game, maybe we'd have something playable on the multiplayer front. Removing information without addressing the PC community? Bad move Crytek.

this tells us that Crysis 2 had built in DX11 and right before release they removed it. To bad you can't return PC to stores...

I suspect Wikipedia is just catching up to recent events we already know about. IE Nvidia removing DX11 from the CRysis 2 features list.

This is one of the dumbest threads I've read yet.

DX11 was never included in the game/demo! Not ANY piece of it! i don't know about you, but go get some glasses, because I saw no difference pre-demoupdate and post-demoupdate.

DX11 simply ISN'T finished yet. Crytek is working on it and will release the DX11 patch, Nathan himself TOLD IGN in an interview! But see, Crytek couldn't only finish DX11 features, but also other things, like menus with many graphical options (graphics are ALL tweakable but only through dev. console at the moment), and such for the PC version. EA gave them a release window that was too soon.

PS3, 360, AND PC are all having issues right now. Crytek is trying to fix every issue for every platform. Cut the ignorance off people.

First of all, you say there is not piece of DX11 in any crysis 2 game. Now i guess the DX11 dll and package was just put there to fill up the DVD space? You have not the slightest clue of what EA and Cytek have done to us. Don't believe a word they say. Then you say DX11 is not yet finished, let me remind you that Dirt 2 was full DX11 and was released in 2009. So DX itself is finished, just not compatible on the damn consoles, which are holding it back.

Then you say DX11 is not yet finished, let me remind you that Dirt 2 was full DX11 and was released in 2009. So DX itself is finished, just not compatible on the damn consoles, which are holding it back.

DX11 has textures, particles, and effects for EVERY INDIVIDUAL GAME. When DiRT 2 was released, its DX11 was done because of the textures and particles the devs managed to finish on time. DX11 ITSELF is finished, this is a no **** brainer, I suggest you were thinking that I was saying "DX11 as a whole isn't finished." Learn to read, in context, what I actually said was that Crysis 2's DX11 version is not finished yet. The textures, the lightings, the everything is not done. And if the DX11 was "silently removed" then I doubt we'd see the DX11.dll. If anything, I have in game pictures uploaded on steam with before-patch and after-patch screen shots. They all look the same Exact THING.

And plus, even IF (notice I said, IF), there was a piece of DX11 put in, it would be retarded to leave in partial DX11 the whole time. It's safer and BETTER for the actual game (to work efficiently) to have partial DX11 taken out and for full DX11 to be put in its place. On this thread, is basically a conspiracy and a FALSE one about Crytek. They aren't idiots. They still care about PC BUT, this is the first time they went multiplatform with a major MAJOR game. It's a learnign experience to them and 360 and PS3 have problems they have to address on top of PC issues. FYI, xbox 360 has 76,000 people ONLINE........76,000 people. There are arcade games with more gamers on it. This says A LOT. If Crytek wanted attention to the consoles, then xbox 360 should have A **** LOAD MORE OF PEOPLE and the PS3 version shouldn't be "shafted."

Consoles will never handle DX11, Crytek knows it, they've always known it. Consoles are at a DX9 standard. Seriously you idiots need to learn how CryEngine 3 works and know that EA controls the release date. EA gave them a release date k? Now Crytek did to make crysis 2 was they made it ground up on CryEngine 3. But on this engine, EVERYTHING is ground up on EVERY platform, AUTOMATICALLY. They built the game so that consoles and PC can run it.....in order to do this they built it in DX9 and made sure to have the consoles in mind (this explains press start to enter). When finished, the PC version is then given the features that make it a PC game (like getting the developer console). Only issue is EA gave a release date that Crytek couldn't work with very well. They had to release the game and now they have DX11, graphical customization through menus (not dev. console), and sandbox editor 3 to release in patches because they couldn't meet the deadline. It's like you're in a school and you have a project do, and you turn it in, but over the next few days before your teacher grades your work, you glue on some extra pieces that were missing in the project.

NOW, stop having ignorance. You make the PC community look very bad.

Cryengine 3 is based DX11. It was confirmed a year ago. So if Crysis is made with Cryengine 3, the question is Sherlock Holmes, where is our DX 11?
