Eight Threads and One, The Marukhati Undaunted

First things first, we need to arm ourselves. With saint-blessed weapons: [PGE] and mandated muskets: [MONKEYTRUTH] and whatever's at hand: [ASSORTED APOCRYPHA]. Honestly, we can't show that (Wrong-Cyrod? Blandinor? Tam-Unreal? ZOS's land, anyway) doesn't exist if we don't have proof of it. High-proof proof. Triumph Over Infidels is just a dream-transmission away.

Is there a word for communal solipsism?

In any case, if we refute the world-as-presented strongly enough I have hopes that it will eventually sigh, fold, and turn into the world-as-should-be.

I'm worried as hell about their representation of the Maormer.

How do you think they interpreted them? I bet they have a strong Pacific Islander tribal representation.

That and, in particular, Elf-Pirates. Yar.

Unless Online includes proper naval combat (doubtful, I'm guessing? I'm no expert on MMOs), they'll probably just be mob mook bandits scattered throughout Valenwood nearby coastlines and rivers. And then we probably won't see any Serpents, and we won't get to see them in naval battle.

Let's just hope that they at least have chitinous ships parked next to their camps, the type of ships they're described as sailing.

But yeah, worried. Considering my existing Maormeri Apocryphas, and the other ones still coming.

Let's also hope that they are still regarded as enemies of the Altmer, that the reference to their possible alliance with the Dominion in PGE 1 is propaganda (not unreasonable, with that specific detail) and that the Altmer and Maormer are still feuding as they were so very recently, 100 years ago (the Altmer account of Pyandonea was from roughly 100 years before Online).

ed: Swapped out 'transcription error' for 'propaganda'. That's what I meant; propaganda.

At this point. I don't even really want to see what they do. I'll probably try the beta. But at this point I don't think I am paying for this.

It might be harsh. But what have they shown that is their own make that is actually part of the unique and interesting parts of the lore? They seem determined to take the easy way out on almost everything interesting or remotely difficult to code in regards to the lore. From no sub-species, no walking tree cities, no ald cyrod, to this, etc etc...i understand they have a budget. But part of the problem of quantity over quality is that they fail to do things in the more interesting way. This isn't zeni's baby. The lore is BGS's baby. If you borrow someone's stuff make sure you treat it right.

The things I want to see. I am not getting to see. The things I wanted to see are getting changed into crap I have seen a hundred times. Thus, my interest is declining markedly.
You definitely have a point in general. I am worried too.

I was referring specifically to their depiction of Summerset. Just becuase he didn't describe it well, doesn't mean it will necessarily be bad.

I'm still giving them a chance, but I will be just as pissed as anyone if the final product turns out to be a generic Tolkien Rip-off.

Well my own personal situation probably doesn't help my mood so, on that note, it might be a good idea to take what I say with a grain of salt. I am kind of in one of those [Vehk] everything states of mind. And not in the good way.

After my initial outburst, I still will give them a shot. Firor just strikes me as he is willing to let anything slide in order for him getting to make DAoC 2 with TES lore. Though it is a fair argument that he might have been making a stupid statement. Then again, he might think Altmer are gritty High Elves and nothing more.

This is the only fantasy gaming series I really have any degree of investment in. So I tend to be a bit overly passionate about it. I am too busy to invest the time into another series(other hobbies like surfing, Jiu-Jitsu, my GF, school, work, etc etc, ya get it) and I don't feel like many other, if any, series can stand up to the level of interesting and detailed lore that this one has. All my apples are in one basket here so to speak. Really, I don't want to get up and move on nor do I want to linger with a series full of disgruntled lorumites(sorry guys), if this MMO goes south in the lore department the Lore forum is likely to turn into a cesspit of vileness(or maybe not, there are some great people there).

I guess those are my concerns.

I have all the same things going on minus surfing and plus a daughter. But there is one thing here I'm really interested in.

You do you JIu-Jitsu!?!?!

Me too. Hence "NordJitsu." Brazilian I assume? Or Japanese?

I do BJJ with Jeff Curran. You might know him if you follow MMA. He had a bunch of WEC fights and a few in the UFC. His cousin is the current Bellator Champ.

I don't really follow MMA anymore. I kind of dislike the direction it is going. To many idiots are learning how to fight and not why to fight.

Actually I did a mix of Japanese and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Japanese from my cousin Jared. He is a blackbelt and has a gym on Kauai. Gi are expensive man. I also did Brazilian with my sensei Keoni. He had no belt in it though he had a black belt in Kyokushin Karate. His Sensei was an OLD school guy. Like one of tue guys that helped found Kyokushin back in the day. That guy knows a lot. I got to meet him once. Made me kick a banana tree for an hour. Lol. Then 'tested' me. He said I 'barely' passed.

I prefer no Gi Jiu-Jitsu so my learning has kind of been bastardized. I have gone to Chris Leben's gym and BJ Penn's one as well. I didn't really like the environments though and I never liked BJ Penn. Too cocky. I have kind of a more rural traditional exposure to martial arts I suppose. It teaches you more about philosophies for fighting as opposed to learning how to fight. Though it does do that. I came in learning fighting as an artform. Now it is just about kicking the other guys ass. Which I suppose is going back to it's roots. Doing MMA at the gym is kind of fun though. I mostly like to learn by sparring and grappling now though.

I think I heard of him. That's great man.

Lol, I figured your name was derivative of something from Naruto, except a misspelling. Kage-no-Jutsu! Primarily though I do Japanese jiu-jitsu more than Brazilian. But I mix it up more than anything when I spar. I'm told I have a style that is hard to read but needs a lot of polishing.

Do you do much striking at your gym? Muay Thai is really fun. I got into it like a year ago. Though a bruised mid-section seems to be common.

Anyways, kind of way off topic lol.

So um yeah, we fight like monkeys and roll around like that in order to subvert the essence of New-Ald Cyrod. :)

EDIT: I made some edits.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Selective/Collective.

I, [user_account_name_"pcvorholzer"] would like to have my name stricken from the walls of this guild's charter.

I have come to the conclusion that my own views do not fall in line with your own on several topics. The first one I would like to bring forth is reg-
-arding the validity of the lore presented in TESO. I have personally , after contemplation, accepted nearly all that has been said and brought forth.
It makes sense to me that, our beloved Pocket Guide to the Empire is indeed a severely biased work with should be considered no less than pro-
-paganda or at least "history according to the victor". There are a number of topics which have been brought up time and time again, both here and
in the Lore Forum, and I tend to find myself accepting the views of the TESO writers and developers. The only main statement ZOS said that I dis-
-agree with is the whole Cyrodil-Jungle business (it was obviously CHIM-ed away).

So I must bid you all fare well, and adieu. I wish you success in your... endeavor.

Signed,

Ya. I do Muay Thai too. My XBOX name is "ThaiFighter" and my Guild Wars 2 name is "ThaiJitsu." Totally know what you mean about people ignoring the spirtual/life lesson side of the martial arts though. Way to much of that. And Jeff Curran is too cocky for my tastes as well.

But....um....ya. Prolix Towers and Varliance Cannons....

That is a shame.
For the record, you dont have to agree with everything, it may also be nice to just hang out in TESO with people who are familiar with and treasure the more obscure and fantastical side of TES lore.

Stricken contemptuously from the annals, your very face removed from the etchings of yore with smears of crushed Jazbay.

I have to ask, why now, of all times, in the face of these particularly irreconcilable advances, do you suddenly find the bitter pill more palatable? In comparison to these new revelations, the old changes no doubt seem less egregious, even mild, but this is more a sign of our dire need than anything. Do let us know if you change your mind, there is an ancient remedy passed down in my family for cleaning up graqe juice.

The author already made one mistake in that article (which he did eventually correct), so part of me doesn't want to take it at face value. The other part of me files it away for future reference and pondering.

In other words, I'm not sure how I feel about this entire High Elf matter. Part of me is disappointed. The other part of me wonders if Bethesda makes TES VI in the High Elf province, how much impact will ZOS' corruption have?

As I see you upon the street corners, preaching your Truths, I will smile the smile of a brother. In that look you will know who I am, and of the shared knowledge which we have. The only underlying difference is that we both look at the same knowledge from two different shores.

As one may experience sweetness from the flesh of a fruit, that self-same fruit may bring the taste of bitterness to another.

on that, there is still the matter of non-members freely voting in this poll. I'm thinking mayhaps we should compile a more accountable list of votes with guildie names attached. Maybe post your preference itt, or pm me your choices?

Probably a better idea to pm choices so that we don't fill up this entire thread with poll answers.
