An Elder Dragon Just Attacked Riverwood...

Yeah, it's stuff like this popping up all the time, driving you crazy. It's just brain dead. You try to immerse yourself in the game world, but you keep getting slapped in the face with *IT'S A GLITCHY COMPUTER PROGRAM MOFO!!!*

It's not a glitch though, is it? NPCs just aren't programmed to respond rationally to threats, that's why once they start attacking you (regardless of level, armor, weapons and list of achievements) they wont stop till they are dead (or they yield till they are healthy enough and then start attacking again).

I know right, stupid old woman with a rusty dagger stole my dragon kill once... Jumped on it's head and everything :shakehead:

There is an old barbarian named Cohen who has just fallen madly, deeply in love.

Something similar happened to me a while ago. It was a very small village with a mine. I did a quest, where I had to collect some [censored]. I came back, received my gold and boom a dragon appeared, sat on the roof and ate the poor lady. I got out my bow but before I could get a hit, he flew away and attacked a giant. They started fighting and the giant won :D
He walked away and I collected my soul. It wasn't sad, it was amazing to watch them fight. But otherwise, I'm always respective to the dead. I won't ever forget the day where Lydia died :(

One time, there was a Dragon and a thief roaming Riverwood.
Everyone chased the thief and screamed, then he entered the pub and everyone forgot about him. They didn't even notice the dragon flying overhead. :shakehead:

It's the same thing in Oblivion. NPCs you're escorting decides to be the hero and charge out into danger against something that could kill them in seconds.

That happened to me while riding with those two MQ guys in the beginning. From nowhere comes a wolf and fighting begins. Somehow, someone lands a hit on one of the three imperial soldiers passing by and before I can say "WTF?" I have three imperial soldiers in my face beating me into a bloody pulp.

Ah, I remember the first time I fought a dragon inside city limits. I was doing this REALLY long quest that involved traveling from one city, to the next, to the next, and then back, and then another city, and so on for a while. I finally get back to the city with the guy I had to talk to. He was outside. I breathed to myself a sigh of relief because I didn't have to go through a loading screen to get to him. So, I'm standing in this area, surrounded by guards training, and I enter the dialogue screen. Then everyone starts freaking out while the guy is in mid-sentence, and I thought to myself, "Wtf is everybody doing?". Then a dragon lands RIGHT BEHIND THE GUY AND EATS HIM WHILE I'M TALKING TO HIM!!!!!! Well, not eats, more like picks up, takes a bite, and throws him off to the side... but I literally made this face " D: " when it said quest failed. And then I killed the dragon.

I see quite a few statements about Lydia dying. Doesn't anyone use Restore a prior save? My Lydia has died about 6 times, twice I killed her by accident. Once I tried to heal her - she was almost out of health after a big fight - and the stupid favorite button didn't work. I hit her with a lightning bolt instead of a healing spell sigh.

But, I will not let her die, and since I save the game often, we just replay the last scene. (Yeah, I'm anol about saving - have to clean out the save-game directory every 2-3 days.)

I was minding my own business, going about my day in Riverwood when I hear a huge roar. I then find myself in the shadow of a nasty looking Elder Dragon. I scream for people to run inside, but no, it landed and Gelda attacks it with an iron dagger and Faendal with his trusty bow. I tried to help them but they got roasted before I got anywhere near...

Thx for the warning. Gerdur is one of my best friends and I like most of the people in Riverwood. If my next visit there draws a dragon that kills them. I will be devastated. A may not be go back unless its late and most are asleep in their homes. People trying to fight it is logical. It is trying to destroy their home and loved ones. They are not soldiers or warriors so they use what ever weapons they have. I once saw a guy trying to punch a regular Dragon with its fist when it landed near him.

Or if you play on PC you can just resurrect her with a console.

This sort of thing can happen only before your eyes, right? Or there can happen another Helgen somewhere, while you're cooking, reading books and sleeping with Lydia in Breezehome?
