ok just looked at the screens....meh. not the worst ive seen!

I better not see point and click anything, menu bars, or "cool down" timers...or someones getting an arrow to the knee!

Ultima Online was the best online game to date. player owned houses, attack anything that moved, and it took actual skill to play. follow that format please...

Honestly not sure if I should be passive, or worried about it. On one hand, it will just be an MMO I will probably never play (especially if the art style is crap.) On the other hand, this may affect future TES games in a multitude of ways, like retconning lots of lore and changing focus/style to garner more money. What if this is the beginning of ZeniMax's rise as the new EA? It could happen. Regardless, I guess we won't know for years to come, lets just hope what we already know and love stays intact.

Ridiculous...

Catering more to the newbs who started with Skyrim making a transition from MP games immediately demanding MP and just shafting the longtime fans who've been with the series since the start.

THIS IS A SINGLE PLAYER GAME, ALWAYS HAS BEEN WHY RUIN IT BETHESDA? caps is cruise control for cool
You don't think Skyrim was envisioned/ and intended as a bridge for ElderScrolls online?

Alistar from Dragonage: "No absolutely not, bad notation." I playing the elder scrolls because it gives me a unique feel of an RPG. I can say the same about Fallout and Dragonage. Adding Multiplayer to it would completely ruin it. I could see me maybe...MAYBE enjoying a 2-4 player coop. But that's about it. But Bethesda is not making this, so these is no point of me getting all worked up. P.S. Guess who's not excited for Fallout: Online -_-

There will be so many things that you will miss.

well it doesnt have to...again UO didnt have any of that crap for years....until wow came out, and they lost there customer base. then they crapped on that game too(they removed skill in favor of making it easy for everyone).

but it is possible for them to make it without that fluff. just makes me so mad!!!

It didn't have to, but they wanted it to be Familiar with people who Play MMO's while being true to Skyrim fans (paraphrased qoute from article) and you know what happens when people try to appease two different groups

Okay, last post for the night
I'll be honest, i wouldve prefered a Fallout online (simply because i dont like fallout as much ;) )
But having a tes mmo doesnt really bother me. Never been interested in mmos, so i might pick this one put for a try.
It wont stop Skyrim DLC and Tes VI production, so theres nothing to worry about.
I suspect it will have a trial or beta period, so if i dont like it initially, i wont by it. Doubt i will pay monthly for anything, but who the hell would.
Overall, Im glad they're expanding the world of Tes to other horizons. After all, they're the ones makin money.

Yeah.. it doesn't work out so well. The thing is, it's not being released by Bethesda, which is good. If the game was being released by Bethesda, The Elder Scrolls Lore, Gameplay, Items, ect... would probably forever be changed. But, Bethesda might also incorporate some things from that game. MMO and The Elder Scrolls never sounded good, even three years ago when I was fighting with my cousin about it. All I can hope for is that the next Elder Scrolls will be freckin' great :D.... Solo player game.

Okay i read the gameinformer article..
So they say every week Todd meets them to make sure everything is correct to canon and lore and to make sure they dont break lore/canon? :/ Then why did they do some weird stuff they mentioned in the article,Like why havent we heard of this before? I mean its supposed to be 1000 years before skyrim right? And is these events described in books and stuff? ... I am upset

From a pure functionality standpoint, it seems like there is just... no innovation at all. They had a strong opportunity to do something that no-one's ever seen before, and they squandered it. After reading the GI article, I could not find a single feature that I haven't seen before in an MMO (and plenty of features that I have seen before were noticeably not present, such as player housing), and the entire thing left me with a feeling of "just another MMO." I still want to see the trailer, but after that write-up, I'm really not very excited.

The reasons I play ES games are exploration, discovery, wonder of the unknown, deep lore, great stories, and great sense of immersion. This write-up strongly leaned in the direction that this is a faction-based PVP game that isn't interested in those things. And since the "emperor" mechanic and open-world PvP features so prevalently, I question whether or not PvE, strictly co-operative play is even an option.

Another death of a once great series if you ask me. It's a shame how nowadays they just make MMOs (mostly because MMOs are ca$h cow$) instead of amazing single-player games.

Cool. Don't play it then. It's launching regardless. It's about time this series branched out. It desperately needed too. Thank you Beth.

Bethesda is not the developer, Zenimax Media Online is. However, they did supervise certain aspects, such as lorecrafting.

Read through the article, and I honestly didn't expect much beforehand. But it looks like Zenimax is really trying to cater to hardcoe TES fans with the expansive exploration, while still trying to please MMORPG players. And it looks like it will be great for roleplayers too, with them bringing back the class system and all. I am definitely looking forward to this game.

IT will never feel like the old singleplayer TES we once played and loved. Think of it. And thank Talos bethesda is still going to make games and expansions to skyrim..

It's an MMO. I would hope that it wouldn't feel like a single player RPG.
