Election Day

Post » Wed Nov 07, 2012 10:33 am

You could sign up to mail in your vote.

This is what I mean. Two hours is more important than the next 4 year (with effects that reach way further). Laziness is killing this country

My thoughts exactly.

On a separate note. I just went to the Skyrim forum for a bit. I felt like I had walked into a bad neighborhood. It feels nice to be safe and sound back in CD.

If you're 18+ and live in the USA, I implore you to go vote.

I don't care if you walk in the booth and push random buttons. I don't care if you vote for some guy simply because he happens to enjoy your favorite brand of tooth paste.

Just do it. It's your right.

Yes, go vote, even if your exercising your right means absolutely nothing! Go go go.

Come on, dude.

It doesn't matter who wins, anyway.

You are what's wrong with this country. This apathy, the idea that "your vote doesn't count", is not healthy.

Unfortunately this never came up in the debates.

I will be voting after class today. I live in a swing state so my vote may be worth something. However, those of you saying you shouldn't vote because it won't matter because you don't live in a swing state make no sense. That is a common idea and causes a lot of people to not go to the polls at all. Had you all went, you may have made a difference.

Bingo.

Why do you think a state is decidedly one way or the other? Because people took the time to go vote. You know how you get your state towards the color you want it to be? By voting.

Unfortunately this never came up in the debates.

I'm not American, but I do tune into the debates often and I must say, if random people could ask questions like this it would make it so much better then those awkwardly worded, scripted questions they have now.

Yeah, I voted today. My first time. No longer a voting virgin. That's all I got to say about that, besides I'm gonna grab the popcorn because this thread is going to explode.

I'll just ask you to consider the difference between the last two presidents, and leave it at that. :)
I take this statement to mean you think there was no real difference between Bush and Obama. You couldn't be more wrong.

Lets keep it civil and maybe the mods will let us have this one.

What time does America usually start getting results in by? I'm working late tonight so reckon I might stay up to read some of the coverage, depending on the time.

Let's keep the actual politics out of this, guys. I know it's a hot-button issue, but tone it down.

I'm of the firm belief that if the homeless guy down the street wants to vote for his pet rock, then he has that right. To that homeless guy, that pet rock is the best choice for his own reasons.

We're talking complete ideological differences.

Ideologically, they're different, sure. In reality ...?

Edit: Anyway, enough of that. Go vote, everyone! Enjoy the results show!

I don't care if you are a Democrat or a Republican, or something in between (me) as long as you are informed.

In reality their terms couldn't have been more different.

The polls are open until 8PM central time here, but I'm not sure how that translates with the rest of the United States. I will be staying up to watch it.

This has the potential to be a watershed election if Romney wins which makes this extremely exciting to watch... well at least for me.

If you actually look at the issues there is a major difference. The current administration was forced to keep things somewhat similar because the economy was in shambles, but there were things passed in the current administration that wouldn't have passed in the previous and vice versa. If you look at the difference between candidates historically, you can see an even larger change in a single election. From Hoover to FDR for example. Voting DOES make a difference.

So what you're saying is that your voice counts more than the next guy's?

Got ya.
My vote should count for a hell of a lot more than that of someone who votes on a candidate just because they have a cute butt (true story). I'm no American though, so what I think doesn't matter for this election anyway.

I totally agree on that. Sure bush and obama might be ideologically different, but in reality they are exactly the same and did pretty much the exact same things in office.
Republicans and Democrats are so vastly different apparently, but when either gets voted in you cant tell which is which in terms of policy.

Anyway im not even an american citizen, but ive been keeping up to date on the debates and all that. Plus here in canada, all of our biased media stations love obama so freakin much, we're always hearing about him every day. (except when he does something that the left wing doesnt agree with, then they dont report it)

Seriously, I don't feel like voting today. Know that I don't have the right to complain unless I vote, but I just...*shrug.*

Jokingly i'm tempted to go and vote to do a write in candidate. Would photograph the name, however I know that's prohibited so I just won't vote.
