ESO Pricing suggestion

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 5:00 pm

The game in my opinion should be buy to play. You purchase it once and you can play to your hearts content with one character. You would also have to pay for each dlc but not patches/bug fixes.

There should also be a monthly fee option. This monthly fee would allow a play to make as many characters as they want and allow all dlc either free or at half cost. In addition maybe a few other things.

Choosing this plan would accommodate more people and perhaps everyone would be on board with.

Edit: fixed because I used the wrong word.

Free-to-play refers to any http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game or social or mobile application that has the option of allowing its players/users to play/download without paying. Sorry but you are referring to B2P. I do like the other idea of giving an incentive not in game incentive for a P2P option. It is a very good compromise. It might make this game have a bigger community.

So you want "freemium" like LOTRO and Fallen Earth? Sounds good to me.

While I would personally prefer pure sub I think coming out of the gate as Freemium will be the only way this game will survive/thrive and not have to change payment schemes (which can be wrongly interpreted as an admission of failure) within a year of launch.

Give us free, 10/mo, 20/mo and 30/mo similar to: http://tagn.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/lotrovipchart.jpg or http://mmeow.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/F2PMatrix.png

I will gladly pay the top sub of 30/mo or do a lifetime sub myself.

I am sorry for typing the wrong thing. Thanks for bringing that to my attention I will fix it immediately and I hope so. I hope it would create a much larger audience and bridge the gap and create more sales and a better product.

At least some on this thread want some sort of compromise. But compromise or not I am waiting for them to make a formal announcement. Hopefully with a mix of options instead of the standard P2P, B2P or F2P models. I would pay a higher price for a DLC or any other addition content like EternalDarkness mentioned without a monthly subscription. The payment option is one of my main decisions in purchasing ESO. As for the game I am watching to see the finished product and it does not satisfy me then I wait for TES VI.

I agree. I would have not responded but Capitol and the OP came up with some great ideas. Isn't discussion a good thing?

That is if they chose to make an ESVI. Assume that the next game is fallout 4 and they buy another games rights it could be ten years or more before TESVI if they do that.

They are already done with Skyrim, no more DLCs. Obviously the next game coming out from Bethesda will be Fallout 4, but that doesn't mean they don't have a team working on TES VI right now.

And Bethesda has already come out to say that the making of ESO (developed by a different company by the way) isn't going to affect the makings of TES VI.

I really don't think they should smack altoholics in the face like that, there at least needs to be an option to buy more character slots without having the monthly subscribe. There are plenty perfectly fine with rolling only one character and prefer only having one, so they end up benefiting the most from this deal. The freemium model like Lotro does sound pretty tempting though, especially if part of it is just B2P.

Yes so I hope ESO works for everyone. I believe personally that ESO has two goals. Goal one to appease the audience of people who have wanted a multiplayer TES game. Goal two to appease people while the bethesda company chooses to pursue other video games. I also believe a fallout mmo is in the works. I know that they are not made by the same group but this is my theory and if it has any truth then within seven years a fallout mmo will be announced.

Fallout MMO WAS in the works, by Interplay, before Bethesda got the rights to Fallout from under them. I assume they did that so TESO would have no competition since shortly after all that started it was announced. Fallout Online was what I was most psyched for until TESO was announced, now its that.

I don't care which one gets made, since FO and TES are my two favorite game franchises and if they both had an MMO I'd subscribe to and play both alternating daily.

Maybe fallout online will come after TESO has launched and done well.

I don't think it works like that. Its more likely to happen either years later or if TESO bombs. They wouldn't want to create competition for their own product and Interplay was supposedly very close to done and even had a beta application up at the time that their plans were foiled, so Bethesda would have to start from scratch and TESO has already been worked on for years.

Most people probably would. I fail to see how they would compete against each other as they target two entirely different groups though with only a little overlap. Also on top of this on topic what would be a good monthly fee. I was thinking $9.99 a month, $24.99 for three months, or $99.99 a year.

treefidy... :bonk:

It will be what it will be, this subject has been speculated, to the point, the cows did come home LOL

We have our preferances, just remember we do not always get what we prefer, in the end it is a ZOS decision, if it is something you like or dislike is up to you, if you play or do not play because of the pay model they pick that is up to you, I am sure they are going to make the best choice they see as the most profitable, may not be the right choice in our eyes for the long run, might be a home run, again we don't know.. /shrug
