ESO should get a mature rating (>= 16 years)

Post » Wed May 29, 2013 4:28 pm

I know this might seem like an odd request.

But the feeling, story, gameworld and humor in games like SWTOR, GW2, ... just svcks.

Hopefully ESO will stay true to the Elder Scrolls and fill the niche of MMO for a >= 16 year rated audience.

I wish:

- nudity

- violance

- at least a somewhat intelligent and coherent game world in a fantasy setting.

The game should get mature rating because you wish so?

I can only speak for myself.

That is how reality works.

I was hoping for more mature players than trolls like you.

Violence and an intelligent and coherent game world can be found in any T rated game also. And why are so many people obsessed with ESO having nudity in it? You never had nudity in the previous games unless you modded it. Adding nudity to the game doesn't instantly make the game any better. Most games just use it as a tool to get their younger male audience to want to play the game to get to that one scene that has boobs in it. Don't get me wrong, I love me some boobs, but I don't see how it makes the game any better.

I've said this before and I will keep on saying it, doesn't matter if the game is rated T or M it will not make the game better or worse.

He has a point, you make little sense. It has to do something to deserve that rating, and that doesn't mean that rating will make the game any better. "Troll" is also a word that will get your post removed on these forums.

Yup, calling someone a troll truly shows your own maturity level. Good day, sir.

You know..ESO looks like a cool idea, but the idea of joining a server and hearing a 9 or 10 years old yelling at microphone and screaming ''Am sooo hardcoezz'' just gives me the creeps. I [censored] hate this new ''GAMERZ'' generation based on shooters.

It's not a console game, you won't be hearing kids screaming through their microphones unless you are in Teamspeak or Ventrilo with them. You, instead, will have to deal with people being stupid in chat though. But good thing for you, you can turn that off and not have to read it.

Games should be made without any regard for a rating rather than being made with the idea of a rating in mind, imo.

Nudity aside (although I love some of the youtube videos), all >= 16 games just feel different and better than other games.

ESO is a perfect candidate for that rating.

I think that games like Mario and Ratched & Clank are awesome.

Some think that WoW and SWTOR are awesome.

I have high hopes for Wildstar as well, which has a suprising setting, humor and art style for a 12 year game.

But ESO should have a different feeling.

A rough adventure world with and for "real" men and women.

It does make sense.

Why would we want little kiddies on this game? I don't.

17+ = Mature game in the US.

Mature game or go home.

Come on. You comment was not useful in any way.

Just the standard complaint about someone that wants something else than you.

I like boobs. Big small round or flat. I like em all. But I don't care if the make it in game or not. What was that FUNCOM game.. errr Conan. Yeah. It had boobs. It fit with the lore. With ESO.. I don't know.

I did add some of the nvde patches to my Skyrim install.. more to see how good they looked than anything. They looked ok. But it was distracting for my grandson to watch... (haha he was in the room and I did not see him before he saw boobs!) I removed the patch since then.

Now I do like comedy.. " What's the matter - someone steal you sweetroll?"

LOL

If "little kiddies" can play CoD and Halo, how would a mature rating stop them from playing this game?

Please try and see it from his perspective. Having an opinion is not bad, but it does show a sort of inflated self worth to make a thread simply to convey your opinion. Now this may not have been your intentions and you simply were trying to start a discussion and obtain others opinions on the matter at hand, but there are better ways to convey this than simply starting a thread with simply this is my opinion and thats it...

That beiing said, the rating in a game i feel does not determine the quality of the game. Yes it is true that past games have had more mature content that what you will find in an MMO, but it is understandable that you would remove advlt content as to appeal to a larger base. I also believe it is a disservice to alienate a crowd that is younger. They may not have the option to play it do to parental controls.

Do you really believe that M rating ever stopped kids from playing any game?

Parents don't care, they buy their children whatever games they want. Rating isn't going to change anything

Again, just because a game is rated M doesn't mean it's any better than a rated T game. Look at Pixar/Disney movies, most of them are rated G and I feel like they have a better story telling to them compared to most movies that are rated R because they thought throwing in tons of nudity and swearing and violence makes a movie great.

Yep. Make the game you want, and it gets the appropriate rating. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the aimed a little at 'E' (or T, or whatever the rating system is now). Exclusion on an MMO title is a bit odd.

Nudity isn't tied to the quality of a game. Or the feeling, story, world or humor.

Violence is a given. It is a fantasy MMO- that pretty much always means a ridiculous body count, ranging up into the 1000s, if not 100,000s.

Intelligent and coherent is also not tied to the rating. You can have intelligent and coherent things aimed entirely at kids, or stupid, incoherent garbage intended solely for 'advlts.'

It is also worth noting that a 'mature' title is in no way an actual barrier to kids.

Not one of these threads again... herp derp.

If you want nudity, find yourself a woman. If you want blood and gore, sign up for the military.
