ESO is the only reason im getting a PS4

Post » Wed Dec 04, 2013 6:46 am

Anybody else feel like that? I dont care if they keep selling out ps4s in the stores because we dont even have a launch date yet. I hope its soon though not in the later half of the year that would totally svck, but anyways I dont even see any other good games being released on ps4 according to wiki. Anybody else only getting a ps4 for this game?

It usually isn't a good idea to buy a console or a pc for that matter for one game. It would be better to find games you're interested in, and find which system would give you the most use.

I would also be careful about the track record for Bethesda and consoles. Granted, its Zenimax that's making this one, and it might run flawlessly on consoles, but I would really wait and see.

the only game i wanted at launch for the ps4 was nba2k14 which just looks amazing but i could not see buying it for one game. i know there will be more games in the future and thats when i will buy it. no question what console for me just a matter of when.

as for ESO, well i hear ps4 players get access to open beta first, not sure if this is true or not but ps4 owners have thats a bonus. i will be playing ESO on the PC as i tend to play almost everything on the pc. sports and racing are the only games i prefer on a console and even then its super easy to hook a controller to my pc and get the same experience.

I can't come up with any reason at all to buy a ps4. Or an xbox, for that matter.

So I don't really understand the question.

I got the Xbox One because it is a newer edition to the 360. So now I have the 360 and the one. I tried the PS3, and did not like it. I am an Xbox gal. :D

Before Bioware was bought out by EA, they had a contract with Microsoft for an exclusive, 360 only game; Mass Effect. People bought a 360 just for that game.

EA bought Bioware. About a month after that, and less than a year after Bioware said ME was not being planned for any other platform, EABioware announced that they were going to release ME for the pc. I was on their forums waiting for news about the pc exclusive game they were working on that was finally called Dragon Age: Origins. The people who bought a 360 just for that game were rather pissed off. The forum was filled with ranting and raging posters. Unless there is some sort of absolute guarantee that a game will never come to a different platform, and you really want that exclusive game, I don't think buying a certain platform for just one game is worth it. For some people it might be.

I just figured that ME would come out eventually for the pc; the last xbox exclusive game that Bioware made took 4 years, but Jade Empire was finally released on pc. Of course once EA got into the picture, I figured they would release any game for any platform that would handle it.

Yeah, people will do it still..it's not a great idea but people buy it for one game. I'm probably going to get it also for KH3 because I don't have self control..anything with EA though..bleh...I have only blind hatred of them

[censored] all the naysayers, I'm right there with you. I'm not even buying my Ps4 until this games Betas on it. I don't give a flying [censored]

I'm sure I'll pick up other games, it's not like it will just be my ESO-box. But seriously I am super excited for this game, I'm totes getting a PS4 for this game, I'm really really ready for a good quality MMO to come out for console. I feel like I've been waiting my whole damn life for this to come out, ever since I first laid my hands on an Xbox controller for the first time swimming around the water as an argonian.

No Mr. OP This game will be totes awesome for the Ps4.

But BE EXCITED! CONSOLES GET ESO... YAY!!! EXCITEMENT!

I'll be getting a PS4 for Bungie's Destiny not so much ESO which I'll play on the PC. I'm not even remotely interested in a next gen console for another 4 months or so as the launch games don't really interest me.

I was an xbox player until recently and decided to switch to PlayStation for the next gen, I wasn't a huge fan of Microsoft's TV focus with the Xbox One. I'll miss xbox live though, a much better multiplayer gaming platform than PSN although PSN does offer reasonable value for money.

I would really get a PC for ESO. I just can't see how consoles can deliver the same smooth experience (skill switching, chatting,...) experience.

~not to start a flame war or anything I just want to explain the advantages of console, as I feel as though I am an informed consumer and not at all a console fan-boy.

Look ya'll I get the advantaged to computer I really do. But I have full time job/ go to school full time. When i'm not playing games I'm hanging out with girlfriend, friends, or family, so it really only takes one or two viruses/ computer crashes/ reformats/ upgrades before you really get tired of using PC for things that require that relationship with your PC.

Really when I have some free time in the day I don't want to wrestle with a PC, and I'm not computer illiterate, I used to repair these things for Farkus's sake. I really just prefer to sit on my couch, grab a controller, and push a button...

I still get to play my games, I've played games since Mortal Kombat for Sega Genesis so even if the graphical fidelity is inferior it doesn't bother me. I just want to buy a devise that I know will play new games that come out for the next several years. I've never had a broken console, no red-rings of death, no blue screens, just get straight to the freiking game. I like that a lot. And psychologically it's nice as it makes a division between work and play. My Computer runs my quick-books, homework, spreadsheets, etc and it's great for that. My cell phone/ xbox handles my porm. And my xbox plays my games. I appreciate the devise separation so when I'm on the computer I'm not getting horny or tempted to play games, and can focus on the task at hand (unless there is some forum topic that distracts me :P )

``````````````````````````
On-topic
`````````````````````````

advantages I see for PC: Graphics, keyboard interaction, UI interface

Null-points: population: This game is already population phased and cyrodil instances are population locked... so I think that the player density will be similar even though our biased polls strongly lean towards PC gamers.

Advantages I see for Ps4: Controller is mroe comfortable for me to playthe game for extended periods of time. My couch is a whole lot more comfy than slouching over a screen. If they address communication right it would be wonderful to utilize voice chat over the mic... also I'd be suprised if you COULDN'T just plug in a keyboard to type really quick.

Also the touchpad is [rumored] to have some functionality. I don't want to say what, I'm not bound by the NDA, but I don't know if that kind of info is...

With the cost of a console you can upgrade a PC to run TESO just as well as it runs on consoles. And you can keep upgrading your PC, making it way more powerful in couple of years.

the number 1 reason why i am pc over console is a pc can do everything a console can do and more. on top of that the precision of a mouse/keyboard is far better imo.

now i understand why some want a console more but for me it has zero advantages. if i want to sit on the coach and play i still can

since we are on the topic i really wish this game allowed cross platform play. i feel that is one of the most important issues and no one really seems to care

Will stick to PC. Anyways, in my opinion, MMOs are meant to be played on PC and not on consoles, and I'm still a bit worried that they did decide to release ESO on PS4 and Xbox, as it may ruin the game a fair bit for the PC version.

Meh, when you watch a lot of porm, some folks mentally associate their sixual side of their brain directly with their computer... I'm glad you don't have this issue either.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But I agree that cross-platform play is innapropriate as it has been stated in the quakecon video that we will have seperate UI, etc. It will probably run a little diffeerent and I'd rather they optomize servers/ software for the particular platform.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Agreed that mouse+keyboard grants additional quick precision, however my skill after using a controller is superior, so for me and others with the gum disease consolitiis iit equates to being a little more clumsy.

/shrug

But glad to see we are all on the same side of the table, just using different utensils.
