Is it even worth trying toick a master lock?

Unlike oblivion, skyrim will let you at least rry, even at intro levels. Broke enough lockpicks without making any progress that i decided to stop tryong until i advance. How about other folks.

I've done it with my skill at about 30, burned through 30 or so lockpicks though. And I didnt get much from what was on the other side of the door.

Probally not at low levels, the loot contained inside seems to match your level not the high level of the lock. had a master or expert which broke several picks and all I got was like 6 gold and a minor health potion.

I hate the lock picking in sky rim but I'm much better at it that I'm at it in oblivion lol. I got like 5 master locks with a skill of about 17

For some reason, whenever I try and get master or expert locks and go very slowly, I can never get them. But when I have one lockpick left and I just say "screw it" I always get it.

I've never hesitated to pick them at any skill level. They are not that bad.

I got really lucky, I think I had 26 lockpicking and got it on my third try O.o

And I can waste 10 lockpicks on an adept lock...

I'm so used to all the tricks from FO3 and FONV that I can pick Master Locks with 10-20 LPs at level 10, lol.

I wind up burning through half a dozen picks per master lock, but it's not really that hard. It's all about finding the small arc in the 180 degree span of the lock where your pick needs to be to turn it. Just tap A while sliding the pick around until you find a wiggle spot, then play around there.

Master picklocks give a lot of experience. I think they almost immediately level my picklock skill when it was in the 50s. I would suggest you equip a fortify lockpick equipment and drink potions. It is worth the cost.

Just stockpile lockpicks and go for it, I have over 300 lockpicks now. Because you can pick any lock at any level it means the lock pick tree is useless so don't spend any perks in it, instead always check shop's misc section and you will usually be able to by 10-30 a time.

Yeah but trust me, once you get a stockpile of lockpicks and get used to picking locks you won't need it.

At I would just get so frustrated from breaking 30 picks that I would console it open :P

But now I've gotten good at it. I have no lock picking perks and can pick a master lock and only break about 5-10 picks at most. It's all user input really, doesn't have to do with game mechanics or dice-rolls like in Morrowind. First 2 pick find out which side it's on, the next two narrow it down, and the last few pick it. That's how I always do it.

It's not all that difficult. I think I'm in my 30's for lock picking, spent ~7 picks and got a Master open. Just takes some player-skill, to not just burn through a billion picks trying to find the right spot.

I thought this too, but I wanted to see what happens when I upgrade the base more. That, and I've got like 200 lockpicks at this point so screw it.
