Everyone... Calm down :)

And this will be no different. Storyline doesn't sell an MMO, mechanics, style, and PvP/PvE play will.

Still most games in the genre hassle us with repititive quests that form a story that is the same for everyone. TES:O sadly will be no different as it appears.

How will this be a good MMO? Will we get Skills- by this I mean weapon skills instead of running around slashing [censored] up like other TES'. This is an online game, therefor leveling should provide us with Skill points to be put into skills of our choice.

I dunno if I understood this correctly, are you saying TES's skill/level-system couldn't work in a MMO? In the eyes of manny fans of the series it's the superior system and especially if the real-time FPS-like Combat would have been adopted the skill-use based system imo would be a canon choice. I also disagree that it is a MUST to offer experience point based character progression with levels and skill choices. That would imply there actually realy exists a formula for a perfect MMO, which simply isn't true.

On top of melee skills, we need to also be able to do other things for more leisure play- Alchemy, Enchanting, and the others.

They're in single player, thus naturally they're expected to be in MMO aswell. Here lies part of the reason for the conclusion jumping. People especially here in these forums have certain expectations of what a TES MMO should be like. With a different combat mechanic (and it takes no big brains to see that with it a different leveling/skill system will come) already anounced there's a natural fear that other concepts that are responsible for the series' success so far might be abandoned aswell.

How will the Thief style be added..?

Indeed a problem. Especially PvP thievery would be tricky (though not unsolvable for sure) and thus we'll most likely not see it.

If it wants to fair well against other MMOs, it also needs other things like Fishing - Cooking (or use fish for Alchemy) AND Mining-Smithing.

Agreed.

It has a lot to live up to... And it needs to try to be better then other MMOs.. We'll see I guess

True aswell. And sticking to look, feel and gameplay mechanics of the single player games in my opinion would have been a better start as it sets the game apart from the rest in an instant, just look at tera, new mechanics = instant hype, in contrast look at SWTOR same old mechanics and they're already talking about server merges.

And generally to those in here saying we might see dramatic changes based on our feedback: Wake up. We'll see some balancing changes during beta, some visual polish here and there and that will be it. And you know what: it's even better this way. Adding features/content last minute just to appeal to audiences that not yet like your game ends in fiaskos. Just look at "space combat" in SWTOR, a last minute feature added on request of a certain part of the audience, that almost no one likes, not even those that asked for it.

Just wait.

Log into TES:O-

"WELCOME TO ------! *Random tip of the day that probably doesn't help all that much*!"
*Enter Major town*
"NOOB FIGHT ME!"
"COME@ME BRO I GOT DAEDRIC!!!!!"
"SELLING CLOTH SHOES!!!!"
"YOU ALL svck N00BS!"

Solutions to that.

1. Ignoring people will get you far.
2. RP severs
3. Turn off the chat if the option is available.

If you can't handle that environment you can play on an RP server, or maybe MMORPGs aren't your cup of tea. The single player forums are on the other side of town.
The problem isn't that he/she can't handle that environment. It's that the TES series has never, ever, ever been even remotely like that....trash (not mmos, but jerks). The reason the TES series wa so sucessful was because you could immerse yourself into the world and affect it how you saw fit. You can't really do that when there are 4,000 people spamming "selling daedric gear" or "lol omfg you are all noooooobs".

Kudos to the OP.

I'm really disappointed about the closed-mindedness, baseless assumptions and shameless stereotyping that's going on this forum.

The ES community can be it's own worst enemy at times.

Every thread that tries to be positive or discuss an aspect of gameplay or lore descends receives TES:O hater replies within 1-4 replies :(

Not all our assumption are baseless. We are right on the hotkey bar and GW2 gameplay since it has been confirmed in GI article. Add this to the cartoony graphics shown in the screenshot, and obviously people will see it as a WoW clone (even if it does have old/new and new features like a different quest system and public dungeons).
And the hotkey bar alone is enough to make me want to kill myself.

So yeah, stereotyping ? Maybe. Baseless assumption ? Mostly not. Closed-mindedness ? Definitely.

Indeed. I don't even think that the hardcoe fanbase (that produces this wave of complaining topics/replies) is a major part of the group of people ZeniMaxOnline hopes to sell this game to. They are probably a very minor part. ZMO are probably not trying to create a game similar to the single player TES games, they are trying to create an MMORPG set in the TES Universe. This game is made for MMO-players, not hardcoe single player RPG fans.

While we don't know any of that for sure, most MMOs aren't for single player people. While there is stuff to do, most end game in these MMOs requires groups. And the story and graphics tend to be better in single player games... This isn't to say if you like one you can not like the other, just understand who these games target audience is.
