To Everyone Complaining about Weak Dragons

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 1:40 am

I have yet to see any city or town or village or random house in the middle of nowhere with the population of, one, get attacked so I honestly don't care, stronger dragons I want, lots!

Level 52 and killed 17 dragons. All way to easy.
Wait for em to land, use relentless breath or whatever it was called, attack with strong weapon.

9 out of 10 times thats enough to get any dragon to meet its maker.
They have yet to be a challenge for me.

You're double my level and I've played a ton, and you just joined today. I smell troll.

At level 15 a Blood Dragon demolished me. Now, they're easier. So you either didn't fight any dragons early or you're lying.

Considering that most of them arn't travelling through cities I don't see how that helps. Can't you just up the difficulty before going into the fight?

Umm, not true. I had the whole town of Riverwood wiped out by a dragon. Also, recently had a farm attacked with NPCs die. I'm betting it depends where you spend a lot of time.

I just ran into a dragon that found a pair of mudcrabs more interesting than I was. He was content to strafe them and land to attack them while I just sat back and plunked fiirebolts in his direction.

The kicker? He didn't even kill them.

Mudcrabs.

That's what I'm saying. If you want hard dragons, turn up the difficulty.

It already svcks when you have to reload a save because you didn't get to/kill a dragon fast enough and it leveled half a town.

You people are playing a different game than me, or just haven't been playing long enough. The whole town of Dawnstar is basically a ghost town in my game. I have killed 3 dragons there, yet they constantly comeback. Now the only person I see fighting the dragons is the damn Jarl, cuz everyone else seems to be dead.

People who say dragons are easy haven't ran into the golden or white dragons yet, lol. Those guys are beasts. Blood Dragons are really hard at early levels.

Wait what.. i never though of this but....

is it possible to kill every NPC inb the game?? in a way that you never see any npc again?

You can kill many npcs and as such will not be able to complete some story lines.
But why dont you try gallopping up to the grey bards and go for a killing spree.
Tne write back here how you realize Bethesda thought of this and made some NPCs immensy powerful, as they should be, and your [censored] was kicked.

I dont think you can anihilate all the NPCs but pretty much most.
I would say that before you are 10% through, your reputation and bounty will be so high that you will have endless hordes of soldiers chasing you, and as such, will die so often, you simply start over.

So all in all, although in theory it might be possible, in practice, I think its impossible since you would die trying. And thats how it should be. Cause someone performing such actions should be killed, in the game that is.

In my travels I have run across some smaller dragons that were medium diffculty and greta for learning on. I have also run into a few dragons that kill me in one swoop of fire or ice breath on Expert/Master difficulty. If I want the fight to be harder I move slider to expert for dragons to mkae it more of a challenge. But so far they have been my favorite enemy in the game to fight.

Here are some memorable moments so far:

-Fighting one dragon a second came from somehwere and killed me
-While fighitng one I though I would be smart and climb to the top of the tower and shoot it with arrows. It landed on the edge and roasted me as i ha dno where to go
-Fighitng one nast dragon on top of some mountan peak or another it laned while I ws helaing picke dme up in its mouth and tossed me off the side. I fell and rolled all the way to the bottom and landed in a river. Very epic death seen.
-I was in the middle of a small town selling goods when one landed on the roof of the inn and fried me
-I was fighting two necromancers in the middle of some meadow near some ruines on the way to a quest. Some dragon hit all 3 of us with frost breath killing the two necros and almost myself

I will have to wait until I get higher level (25 now) before I can really say if they need a buff

i find the dragons fairly easy, even the final encounter with Alduin was not all that hard (Beautiful graphics in Sovngarde BTW), However just before going to Sovngarde there was an 'Elder Dragon' sat on a stone pillar completely ignoring me - untill i stuck an arrow in his face at wich point he completely owned me.......Despite several attempts i could barely scratch him.

He was far more difficult than Alduin.

If you weren't a troll you wouldn't care to defend yourself against a random person on the internet. Also if you've only killed 17 dragons by level ~50 then your definately lying. My irl friend is 8 and he's killed 10. Nuff said.

Imho there are plenty of imbalances in the game dragon's are very low on my list. I agree with those that think that bears, sabretooth's, and trolls are much more powerful. If they arn't nerfed i'll be seriously disappointed.

Hmm... I seem to have no problems with Trolls or Bears at all. Must be my build but I just block them easy. I do have the slow time on power attack form the block tree and I can move out of the way of about 50% or more of thier attacks. I know giants and maamoths have a heap ton of HP however I can just kite them all day with arrows and shouts. They take awhiel to kill but if you avoid getting hit they are easy.

I must be really rubbish at this game, because nearly every hostile creature has been a challenge, dragons as well. Last time I saw a dragon I cowered in a hollowed out tree trunk until it went away. If/when they land I'm usually ok, but I'm rubbish at shooting a moving target and a dragon fight will usually decimate my potion supply.

I've only fought two trolls, but I had the jump on them so it was ok - the way they move and the noises they make always freak me out though. Sabers would be fine if they weren't always in twos or threes.

One thing that really bothered me about one dragon fight I had though: it was in a little hamlet-type place, so when the dragon settled down to roast me, I ran off behind a wall of the horse enclosure bit to avoid it. The flames passed straight through the wall (and the horses, who weren't hurt at all). It was annoying because I thought fighting in a place like that would be great fun - ducking and diving and all that, but it turns out it's pointless because the flames seemed to pass through pretty much anything anyway.

I see a lot of people complaining about how weak Dragons are, and how much stronger they should be. I tend to agree, but I think you are all missing something here. If Dragons are made immensely more powerful your entire game is going to turn into Skyrim the ghost province. Seriously, I already see a lot of people, not just guards dying to dragons in my game, some of them are named NPCs while they are not essential, I still hate seeing a named character die, knowing they will be gone from my game.

Basically I think Bethesda realized if they made dragons too strong, they would wipe out half the population of skyrim. So my point is I hope they do not make dragons stronger, although it would be nice fighting stronger dragons as the dragonborn, I do not relish the thought of playing the game in half populated towns across skyrim.

Why those people don't just run into their homes when a dragon appears is beyond me. What do they really think they are going to do running around aimlessly with their little iron dagger drawn?

I thought dragons were really weak until i started seeing frost and elder dragons that can instant kill you by eating you or catching you with the tail if you get close.

IMO, a dragon that can take out an entire village in a few minutes (watched it happen) isn't lacking power. That said, if you're looking at dragons as these omnipotent beasts as some do, you're going to be disappointed, sorely. You can't compare Skyrim's dragons with, say, DA's, anyway. Why? Have you paid attention to the story? The dragons are just returning. They're not big ancient beasts, they're mostly young, immature. The way I see it anyway. THAT said, lighten up. Tolkien is not Rowlings is not Eddings. TES is not AD&D, etc. Different takes, different stories, different beasts. Even if the have the same names and general appearance. If you want your dragons all but unbeatable... hey, more power to you, make the world, make the game, make the story.

Rather than making dragons stronger (which I believe they should be but w/e) make the d*** wildlife easier. So it seems balanced. It stupid and ridiculously silly that I am looking for bears, cats, and mammoths instead of this crazy, epic, fire breathing behemoth that can fly.

And their AI is RUHTAHDED. When I see a dragon, I dom't even bother with it. I continue on my way till it lands because usually... it's gonna fight a bear and lose anyways

I wouldn't mind if dragons got tougher if they also got much more rare. Leave them as quest creatures or keyed to specific locations. Don't have them randomly showing up every other time I go wandering.

I agree... though I am not that far in the storyline yet ... I did read that dragons THEMSELVES can become stronger by absorbing the souls of other dragons!!! So this may mean that at some point you may encounter dragons that are much stronger then the one's you now occosianolly see roaming through the provindence and have to fight. :flamethrower:

As the poster a few posts up noticed ... They are just returning. These are youngsters, not powerfull yet. Not sure if it is in the storyline. But who knows... perhaps at some point you'll see dragons fight eachother, or you meet one who has been consuming other dragons already.

I think they are too easy. Whenever I find one it's a short fight. Unless they are flying. One did surprise me by landing in The Blue Palace courtyard in Solitude though.

It would be pretty nice to see NPCs that aren't guards run away from/hide from dragons, the ghost-province effect is taking place in my game too.

It isn't IMO that Dragons are too weak, its that they should use better tactics. They seem to land too often and they
don't use terrain and their intelligence to their advantage. While their flying around their a pain, but when they land
they land too close or if a person hides behind a rock or some terrain their unsure of what to do. Don't land in the midst of
characters trying to kill you, do some fly byes and land at a distance to where the little bags of mostly water(lol humanoids)
have to come to you to attack. Make the Combat tactics on the dragon stronger and I gaurantee the # of complaints about
weak dragons might go down a little.

In comparison an Ancient huge Dungeons and Dragons Dragon can lay waste to entire towns because their Intelligence is
close to Supra Genius do to their very long lives. If you make a game with dragons the rest of the game world should be
balanced enough not to be wiped out. Stronger town defences, more mage guards and different stuff.

I said this in a thread yesterday:

People complain about the dragons, especially compared to mammoths and giants, but can giants and mammoths shoot magic out of their mouths? Can they fly? No, they can't do either.

Dragons are overall, the most well rounded enemy in the game, in my opinion. They can do damage with fire, ice, etc. They can do damage with their bites, and they wallop you with their tails. They can kite you while flying around and hitting you with their magic...

Dragons are fine. They are balanced for the game. Let's be real, we would all hate the dragons if they were any more powerful.

I was in Whiterun last night and a dragon landed on Breezehome and was attacking the city. It was cool. I don't see Giants or mammoths doing that...

I haven't seen a dragon kill much of anything. I've yet to die from one, and groups of bandits that I can three-shot are taking them down.why do we need a dragonborn? Town guards could handle alduin.
