Eye Candy and Aesthetics

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 5:40 pm

Well, I have been playing Skyrim for four days now and each time I exit the game and see my Windows 7 desktop slide show; of my FNV, FO3 and Dragon Age Origins screenshots; I feel the urge to go play those games. And, it’s all about the “Eye Candy” and the “Aesthetics.”

Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining about the hard work that Bethesda put into Skyrim. I think the game is awesome, but with a little help from those wonderful modders out there it could be much improved in the way of “Eye Candy” and the “Aesthetics.”
I know that I may get some negative feedback, but I will say, however, the romance scenario leaves a lot to be desired. I am all for fantasying, but with more pleasing visuals. (I am an avid 3rd person player.) Even an embrace or a kiss that leads to a “fade-in-black” could help that along immensely: And, some much needed reveling armor would be pleasant, as well.

Still, I want to thank Bethesda for doing and awesome job. It was well worth the wait. If it doesn't make game of the year I will be disappointed. Thank you.

It's only a matter of time before someone ports HGEC/Roberts and this kind of thing gets underway. I do not understand your desire for this kind of thing, but I can tell you that the appearance of these sorts of things are as certain as the sunset. It hasn't already started in earnest because there aren't any 'real' tools for working with Skyrim's .nifs yet, at least so far as I am aware.

Now the moderators start to regret not making a sticky about advlt mods in the SK modding forum already.

Well, I am and advlt. In fact, I will be 65 in February. Perhaps that explains my desire for "Eye Candy." And, the truth be known even if you had a character running around Skyrim practically nvde you don't even notice it as much: Because you are too busy playing. Besides, why do you think Dragon Age Origins is still so popular? Moreover, I don't understand your negativity towards advlt mods?!? I think Bethesda and Bioware and all the others see that as additional revenue: and, revenue is what they desire most. That being said, I appreciate your forthrightness and your opinion. And, thank you for your reply.

I guarantee you that there are going to be massive amounts of nvde and six related mods on the way, as it is there is already like 3 nvde patches for the game over at the skyrim nexus when this game has been out for all of 6 days and implementing six into that equation is the logical next step.

Also, they do have some more skimpy revealing armors out as well.

I know they do. I have some already. Before I even started my first game in Skyrim I installed several texture mods to include the nvde one. I have even done some voice overs for a couple of mods. Quest and Legends for DAO and for Alton, IL in FNV.

it's not that i have a huge problem with it, its just when i look for mods for f3, FNV or OB i have to wade through extremely large quantity of advlt mods which is not really to my taste.

don't get me wrong i have nothing against it, i just can't see why i would want this kind of thing in my game, if i wanted to see advlt stuff, well you know.

but yeah i would prefer that skyrim not have 50,000 nvde and six mods, what i want are other hings like armor, quests, marts monster mod.

peace.

I am not really trying to be particularly negative, Jallard. I said I was sure it would happen and explained why it hadn't happened already.

I also noted that Moderators will probably regret not having already made a sticky about this kind of thing like they already have in the Oblivion Mods and Morrowind Mods forums on this site. There are certain things they prefer we do not do when discussing this stuff and while neither of us have broken any rules, this kind of thread is an "invitation" for someone else less familiar with the rules to do so, where a sticky might deter them. That's all.

You should know that your age has nothing to do with this. Neither do I think Beth or Bioware actually factor in 'advlt' mods when they project long term sales. Games will sell well because they are fun, the mods those games have probably do not impact sales very much at all (although the fact that they can be modded might).

I don't like 'eye candy" mods because I feel they detract from the experience. I don't mind women in my games being attractive, but I would prefer it if their armor and clothing was practical, particularly in a cruel and unforgiving setting like Skyrim. In reality, I would prefer a mod that made females wear male chestplates since it has never made any sense to me that a chestplate morphs its shape depending on who wears it.

I don't really care who uses what mods in their games and I don't care if people make mods I don't like or won't use, of course.

Thanks. In FNV I have sixy clothing for my female characters and for my female companions, but they by no means run around in the nvde --unless I want them too. As for porm or anything of that nature I refuse to buy into it. It's all about trying to be tastefully sensual. In a world like FNV or in Skyrim, in my personal opinion, it can't be all doom and gloom or stodgy for that matter.

I modded an entire island ("Dibella's Watch" - it was close to an entire continent with quests, towns, villages, castles and the lot) to honour the Goddess Dibella in Oblivion. Thanks to the modders I could keep it suitably and tastefully sixy too, without ever crossing the borders of pure tastelessness, since Dibella's Own Land really needs to be sixy. Looking at some instances of Skyrim, I can only say that vanilla Skyrim is a lot sixier than vanilla Oblivion ever was. I miss the days of old Daggerfall. Anyone remember how the Temples of Dibella looked back then? I mean Whooa!

I'm sure an advlt too, so bring on the Eye Candy for Skyrim, modders, I say!

These mods will come eventually. Right now, the new .nif structure has to be decoded, as soon as thats done, conversions for both bodies and armor should be under way :D

While opinions on which bodies to port might differ, i hope they will take the Type 3, as it combined a lot of good things in one single package.

Don't mind nudity but it is not as essential as a serious facelift mod.
I definitely want to see Tamriel NPC Revamped transplanted in Skyrim.- at least this way will be able to look at them NPCs :D

But I checked a cave - gorgeous work, Mommy Bethy! :tops:

Our only regret is that you apparently did not read the sticky at the top of these forums; otherwise you would know that it was http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/724862-forum-rules-and-general-information/page__view__findpost__p__10466758. ;)

EDIT: But if it makes people feel better in having a specific sticky because they apparently don't read our forum rules, I can provide that as well...

I'm NOT looking forward to having to sort through all those advlt mods and skimpy armors to find the ones I want. I gets tedious. It's not that I'm against them, I'm just not interested in them. There is more than one way to make a character look sixy and simply showing it all off is not my preferred method.

That is very true. I am not all that pleased with the current slider system in the character creation template.

I apologize if I violated a forum rule with my thread here. I did not realize how touchy this kind of thread could be. I have tried to keep it tasteful as can be expected. Again, I do humbly apologize. Please feel free to lock it or delete it. Thank you.

We do allow discussion of the topic (within reason); otherwise it would have been locked already. Please refer to the forum rules and the sticky regarding advlt mods on what is and is not allowed and you should be fine... Main thing is understanding that while the game may be rated M, these forums are 13+. ;)

I am highly doubting dragon age is still popular just because of nudity mods lmao. It's a good game in general..

I only have one hope with advlt mods this time around... (well two, actually).
The main thing I'm concerned about is if the clothes/armor to body size principle still applies, like in Oblivion, I won't be able to find many modded clothes that will fit the body type I choose. Everyone will only want to make mods for E,F,G,H cup and beyond, so AA, A, B, C, D will be sorely left out. They also don't like LL or L lower bodies, so that will be annoying also.

Secondly, with the body & leg slots merged, and if we can't mod leg slots back into the game (and perhaps more than just legs) my obsession with body & clothes mods will become malnourished. ( I could end up homeless, begging for twigs, salt pork and panties.)

I still think this was a bad idea for an RPG. The more advanced and modern the games get, the more options we want and expect, not the reverse.

TES6: One piece body suits! All your gear in a single mesh!

I really hope this can be changed back thru modding. I loved being able to mix and match to customize my gear.

Well I am an advlt as well, at 21, and I, being part of the generations everyone seems to be worried about six and nudity and whatnot, I cant for the life of me understand why people want such things in a game.

DAO is still popular simply because DA2 failed at being a proper sequal to the awesome game mechanics that DAO had. Overall DA2 failed at being a "2".
