Fable HD remake (New lightin ect)

Post » Wed Jun 05, 2013 6:42 pm

Very. I get really tired of Microsoft and Lionhead's on-again-off-agan support for PC with these games. I wished they'd given them the full attention they deserve for all platforms or had just made it an XBOX exlusive to begin with.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with Pete's departure:

"Guys, guys, I've got a great idea for a new game that really reacts to your every deed."

"That's lovely Pete, but we have decided to make the first Fable in HD."

"This will be great though. If the Kinect sees you picking your nose, the townsfolk like you less."

"Yeah, nice but...they are giving us money. Lots."

"I'll get me coat."

Except the fact there completely re-doing the entire graphic engine, sound design, UI, and adding achievements and more.

There are people who wake up in the middle of the night screaming as a result of that. :D

Maybe they'll add an option to switch him off.

Probably not, but I can dream...

Edit: If they do, I might actually forgive them for making Fable 2

Pretty cool, but I won't pay more than 20-30 bucks for it.

I'd look forward to seeing Jack in this remake for sure, but at least on the PC you can disable the Guildmasters voice.. if they ever decide to release this for PC and it has good reviews, I see myself getting it considering how much fun I've had with TLC.

I remember playing and enjoying the original Fable on PC. it was a long time ago, but I liked some of the concepts that were never really built upon in the dumbed down sequels, I don't know that i'll pick it up on launch, but would eventually grab it after a price drop or used.

There seems to be quite a trend of graphical updates for that generation of games... Kingdom Hearts 1.5, Final Fantasy X and Fable all getting HD remakes this year... devil may cry, Metal Gear Solid, Hitman and Halo already have theirs out.

I wish these companies would spend their time making new innovative games rather than trying to bank on nostalgia and pumping out the remakes... I guess it's a sign of the times that graphics make and break a title and if they want to put out new sequels to these old games they need to have the originals in HD.

The first one was okay. Not really a big deal to miss out on an HD remake to me.

QA (From Lion Head Studio)

Q: What is Fable Anniversary?

A: To celebrate nearly ten years since the launch the critically acclaimed Fable, we're bringing a new and enhanced version of the original game to Xbox 360 players. Whether you're a Fable fan old or new, you'll be able to experience the magic of the game that started it all with updated graphics, animations and interfaces!

Q: Can you be more specific about what exactly is being updated?

A: It was important to us that Fable Anniversary isn't just a simple port, we want it to be up there with the best looking games available on Xbox 360. In order to achieve this vision, we have;

  • An entirely new lighting system, powered by Unreal.
  • All new models, textures and materials - leather now actually looks and feels like leather!
  • All new particle fx, to make Fireballs hotter than ever!
  • All new facial and cutscene animation technology to bring even more life to our story sequences!
  • Widescreen support! A 4:3 TV is sooooo 2004, so you can enjoy Fable Anniversary with 16:9 beauty!
  • Also, not forgetting sound! All our audio has been fully remastered for surround sound!

Q: When is Fable Anniversary launching?

A: Fable Anniversary will launch later this year.

Q: Will content from The Lost Chapters be included in Anniversary?

A: Absolutely - all of the content from The Lost Chapters will be included.

Q: Will there be new quests or content?

A: Our intention with Fable Anniversary was to re-capture the game that so many fell in love with and bring it up to date for a modern generation of console gamers. We think the story, quests and gameplay of the original game are what lead to it becoming a critically acclaimed title in 2004, and we've got no intention of changing or adding to that with Anniversary.

Q: What platforms will it be available on?

A: Fable Anniversary will be exclusive to Xbox 360

Q: How much will it cost?

A: We've not announced a price yet, but keep an eye out as we'll be sure to let you know as soon as we can.

Q: Is this the only project you're working on?

A: Fable Anniversary is just one exciting project we're working on - be sure to watch our website, forums and Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels to make sure you keep up to date with the latest from Lionhead.

Q: Can you tell us about any other projects?

A: As soon as we've got stuff to share about the other projects we're working on we will do; again, be sure to keep up to date by following us on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and of course right here on our forums!

Q: Are there any screenshots or videos showing off the game that I can see?

    A: Here's what we've got so far: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.486385711429504.1073741825.222715251129886&type=1

Q: Will there be new achievements?

A: Yes indeed! We've got a brand new bunch of interesting achievements for you to try your hand at.

Q: Will Fable Anniversary be supporting Kinect or SmartGlass?

A: While it won’t support Kinect, Fable Anniversary will support SmartGlass - more on this to come later.

Q: Will there be a strategy guide for the game?

A: Yes! We’re very excited to be working with PRIMA on a very collectable guide, stay tuned for more info.

Q: Do you have any plans to create an Avatar collection for my Xbox 360 Avatar?

A: We do indeed. We plan an avatar collection, along with gamerpictures and dashboard wallpapers.

I'm actually a fan of the whole Fable series, I just love the over-the-topness the series brings. It's nice to see Fable getting its recognition as a great game, especially since most people associate Fable (series) with Molyneux lies and overhyped gameplay. I personally won't get this though, because I think the graphics on the PC version are actually kind of nice.

Wouldn't it be easier to just state which few things - if any - are still alive? Besides 24. :P

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6V7QWknxeFc I absolutely LOVED Fable 1 and then TLC! I still have it for Xbox and love to play it from time to time. I'll be getting it for sure. I only wished that Fable 2-3 actually followed the rich lore that there was for that series. Such a waste.

Cool, but I wish they would fix some of the problems that the original game had. For example, I feel like it forced you to play as a good guy. You got rewarded with "good" points every time you defended yourself against a monster, and it forced you to take on quests you didn't want to like when you had to escort those three traders before you could continue with the main story. Also things like aging, getting fat, and the economy weren't even noticeable in the first one unless you knew those features were in the game. Fable 2 & 3 improved on pretty much everything.

Still, I might pick this up for $15-20. I still has TLC on original Xbox.
