Hey Guys,

Here's some good news for Australian Fallout fans. NV hasn't been banned in Australia.

Good news, but I don't think it was in any real danger of being banned.

IT got the same rating in the UK that it's predecessor did. I see no reason it won't do the same in other regions.

Fallout 3 was in danger of being banned, until they changed the name of Morphine to Med-X.

That's all it takes to get a game banned now a days?. Would they even be able to buy the trilogy pack(FO,FO2 and Tactics) seeing as how their content is more for advlts then FO3 was?

Fallout: New Vegas didn't have any drug named morphine in the first place.

Apparently, the Aussie government have really thick sticks up their back ends when it comes to media content control. Quite strange for a nation with it's origins as being a criminal prison colony for the English.

Maybe they are just overcompensating. I am not a fan of banning things or editing content. I just hope it does not catch on here in Canada. (Then again my news could already be controlled by the CBC :shifty: )

That's nothing. In Japan, video games are apparently not allowed to depict skeletons and skulls. They had to completely redesign the Undead faction in WoW and redesign whole areas of the game for the Japanese release I hear.

Is it not possible for someone living in Japan to order the game from America? Or would there be problems like the game from America would not be in Japanese? Australians could do the same, the game would be in English only problem there it might take a long time. I ordered items from Australia took months and cost alot.

I don't know if they allow american software to be installed on their systems...kinda like how american 360 games don't work in a japanese 360 (learned that on the Cheap Ass Gamer podcast). Region Locked I believe is the term.

Same is true for DVD's (and presumably Blue-Ray). Drives and players are region locked (though PC drives have the option to change regions ~usually 4 or 5 times).

ok i live in australia i knew that it wasnt getting banned because i preorded it allready and chances are that it has been censored a bit , and with fallout 3 it was the names of the drugs, like buffout was steroids, and the other drugs were real world names, and then bethesda just said we will change it for rest of the world as well, and the reason that australia bans or or changes games is because of one man, i forgot his name but he hates video games, and he wont allow a R ratings for games, anyway they did a vote on people who wants R rated games and who dosent and about 95% of people wanted them but still hasnt happened, he still thinks that most people who buy games are around 10 to 17 but its not ,there are rumors that in the next year or so , that there will be a R rating for games, go on youtue and take a look at left 4 dead australian version and see what they did to it , and yes you can buy the old fallout games because i just did a few months ago

That could be the same for PC. Windows changes their software to match different laws. So much control :banghead: The last place I would expect to have such laws against video games is Japan.

Turkey has no copyright laws or anything like that. Learned that from an exchange student.

I find that hard to believe. Why would any company do business there? They would not be able to protect their assets. The EU would let that happen?

Maybe they just don't go after copyright issues as hard as other nations.

Apparently not. He went on and on how pirated games were the norm, sold out in the open at markets. I guess they have they're own laws in place that make it possible.

Turkey isn't a member of the European Union. Well not yet anyways. They're a "potential candidate" at the moment, so they wouldn't fall under the copyright laws of the European Union.

They do however have their own copyright laws, and they are making revisions to comply with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WIPO.
