Todd Howard said in a recent interview that they shouldn't leave much of a footprint.

I didn't quite get that, what did he mean by that statement?

He doesn't want aliens running all over the place. I'm pretty sure he meant that Aliens should stay in space, like in Mothership Zeta, and not all over New Vegas.

Oddly enough given the proximity to Area 51, NV might have been more ideal for an alien easter egg/special encounter than the Capital Wasteland.

Funny thinking happened the other night, I was wondering around the Venetion on the las vegas strip and this resturant caught my name. It was called something (can't remember first name) Burke. So theres Jet night club and Burke resturant :P A lot of funny things in Las Vegas that randomly reminded me of fallout like these 2 business names I saw on while roaming the Casinos and strips. I'm from Las Vegas I better feel right at home when this game comes out. Oh and theres the atomic test musem in Las Vegas also. I could make an entire thread of things that remind me of fallout or fallout related in Las Vegas.

I think he means that aliens should play a very small role in the Fallout universe, if one at all.

'We should do alien abduction, we should do alien abduction.' I thought it was hilarious, and I said, 'We should wait. That isn't like the classic Fallout. You kind of want to keep the footprint of aliens in Fallout small.'

With that said, I can't see aliens having a signifigant role in New Vegas, if one at all. The veterans probably won't put them in there at least.

New Vegas will not remind you of home. Most of the huge casinos and hotels were not there in the 50s.

But they may have been in there in 2077, which is when the bombs fell in Fallout lore.

But it's said that Fallout's timeline diverged from ours shortly after World War II. While there may be casinos (or evidence or their existence at some point) in NV, don't be too shocked if it's light on the gambling theme than lets say, New Reno.

If you pick up one of the new versions of the original Ocean's Eleven, there's a pretty interesting special feature that goes through the prominent casinos of the time. The Strip, Vegas, and casinos in general were quite different back then.

[great card dealers I'd think, and the option to hack their programing to cheat the casino ]

It's more Obsidian related than New Vegas (i.e. nothing about NV in it.)

Just because the timeline diverged in the 50s doesn't mean every single thing changed. Besides the ambience displayed in Fallout is not 1950s US, but the future as seen in 1950s US. There very well could be (And in my opinion should have) the same or similar casinos to the ones that have been built post-1950s on the Vegas strip.

Seeing the strip post 2077 should not be like looking at the strip circa 1950, though naturally there should be some influence and some remnants of that era prominent still to keep in with the games' unique look.

Actually seeing as the strip seems to constantly change, they could build design the wildest casinos (ruins).

So, Fallout: New Vegas is supposed to be about aliens roaming throughout Vegas? That doesn't sound that fun, I'd rather just take out Raiders and Super Mutants in the ruins of post war Vegas. Now, that sounds a lot better!

Obsidian really should throw the fans a bone, hell I'd be happy with just one teaser pic... Hopefully they'll start the PR once AP is out.

gamesas is in control of PR since they are the publishers. Obsidian can't say anything without Hines' blessing first.

I'm hoping for someone completely unexpected.

Like the NCR being the bad guys.
And the PC leads somekind of guerrilla strikes against the occupying force.

Aside from cameos, I hope that the enclave and the BOS play No part in the New Vegas MQ, or any future Fallout games for that matter.. I really hope the devs concentrate on ways to keep fresh stories coming.. And I can't wait to check out some new settings.. I would love it if the Fallout series were to eventually cover the globe in a string of ten to twenty games or so.. I highly doubt that will ever happen, but I love the universe that the series created...
