Fallout: New Vegas who will you be?

Post » Thu Jan 06, 2011 10:25 pm

My character will be a mix of bad and good. Only passion is hunting rifles and a simple pistol. Very skilled lockpicker and a computer whiz. Very good with small arms. Uses only light armour like leather or vault suits. Pleasure of finding tech for the BoS.

My character will be named after me (Matthew) in his early 20's. I'm probably going to do a neutral play through but like many other games I steal just about everything. I'm also going to see if I can a few number of fights with my speech skill. I usually don't feel like killing people unless they fire the first shot. Won't be a full on pacifist run through but it won't me murdermurderdeathkill 24/7.

tagged skills:
Guns
Repair
Speech (might change to survival I'm not sure)

S.P.E.C.I.A.L.
Strength: 6
Perception: 4
Endurance: 5
Charisma: 7
Intelligence: 5
Agility: 7
Luck: 5

I like my first or very early play through characters to be average. But chances are I'll bump down some more stats and get Charisma an Agility higher.

Initially a naive, gun-for-hire with sort of a mean streak - but not in bloodthirsty way. He'll purposely side with oppressive factions out of sympathy and/or personal benefit. He'll relish and embrace sin as it is presented to him in the forms of money and promiscuous women. Though he won't kill and pillage indiscriminately - only those that turn hostile as a result of his unethical decisions. And with the NCR being one of his eventual major nemesis', he'll keep trophies of his kills in the form of tags, revolvers and helmets at a safehouse.

A schizophrenic with multi personality disorder. Oh yeah 3 major personalities will emerge. The first one is a psycho.. one second being a friend then stabbing you in the back because she didn't like the color of your shirt. Most of this personality will be in it for the money but she finds a sixual pleasure in killing (Creepy).
2nd personality comes the evil seductress who uses her beauty and charm to seduce men and destroying their lives for fun. She doesn't like to get her hands dirty so she'll avoid killing if she can but she isn't a coward just a mastermind who prefers to work behind the scenes.
3rd personality is the overwhelmed little girl. Simply unable to cope with the harsh life in New Vegas this personality is someone who isn't used to fighting for her life so whenever she's out its panicking during fights and worried that the next passerby will attack her.
each personality will emerge when unknown events trigger them.
It will be interesting to be in a firefight as 1 then suddenly be 3 I see this making the game even funner.
I just barely came up with this idea and I love it.

Patrick Callahan, a New California Ranger who'll be a marksman. His tagged stats will be perception and intelligence, while his tagged skills will be guns, repair and survival. Other skills which he'll focus in will be explosives, medicine, lockpick, and a bit of speech and science. I'm considering also focusing in sneak, and tagging agility instead of intelligence, but haven't decided yet. On one hand, sneak would probably be useful for a ranger who'll want to get in the perfect position for attacking with his sniper rifle, or simply sneak past certain enemies in order to scout out territories. On the other hand, he won't be a thief (no pick pocketing), and will certainly be a long range fighter (removing the need to get close). I've never really used sneak in past Fallout games, so advice would be appreciated.

I've already said this in a different thread, but here goes.

Janus. Having grown up in the remains of an old, stone library, he found the Romans a source of inspiration. He eagerly takes a courier mission to get closer to where there are rumors of a new Rome. He wants to join in order to help humanity reclaim what is rightfully theirs. Using one of mankind's most iconic and long-lived cultures, he'll cleanse the wasteland to make it safe for humans. Knowing that the human race needs other animals to survive, he will destroy only mutated sapient races - ghouls, super mutants, intelligent anythings - anything that isn't "pure". It is a sad necessity that he must destroy the other wasteful, corrupt human factions. But he has a heart and will do anything he possibly can to aid aother human in need.

Strength 8
Perception 5
Endurance 7
Charisma 8
Intelligence7
Agility 1
Luck 4

Melee
Repair
Speech

If I decide to go for an energy weapons playthrough, I'll divvie up strength and endurance into perception and maybe a couple points of agility. I don't want to rely on VATS, hence the low agility score.

I generally stick with similar SPECIAL for my playthroughs. I may do a stupid/tough unarmed character for anarchy as a fourth file though.

One of mine will be a neutral character called Skylar. She'll be quiet and levelheaded, with her main priority being money. Skylar does have a soft spot though, so sometimes she'll go out of her way to help others, provided it doesn't require too much effort.

My other character will be based roughly on me, which by default, makes her sort of lame. She'll be a useless Asian girly-girl who's not very good with weapons or self-defense, who goes around NV praying she doesn't get eaten by something. It's guaranteed to be absolutely pathetic! :)
...Err, I mean, completely awesome...

Very Hard, Harcore
I come back from the dead to seek vengeance upon mine enemies, "High Plains Drifter" Eastwood. Nuff Said.

But that's just for the character goal.

Special will most likely fall close to the below.
S: 5
P: 6
E: 5
C: 1
I: 9
A: 6
L: 8
Could change based on perks/traits and the amount needed to unlock some of the ones I'm more interested in. A lot of +crit or Sneaking perks needed a High Agility/Perception in FO3 which made me a sad panda. (I do hope that Intelligence will have LESS of an impact on how many skill points you get to spend, in FO3 it was too much of a dominating stat.)

Skills
The closer a color is to the below...
Green = Important
Red = Not adding to at all

---

Sneak (tag)
Firearms (tag)
Survival
Lockpick (tag)
Repair
Explosives

Melee
Medicine
Science

Speech
Barter
Energy Weapons

The rest fall in between them somewhere in orange or red.

Playstyle
Definitely going to play with Sneak and Hunting Rifles/Sniper Rifles and a "hopefully" a silenced sidearm/SMG. Locate enemies and then set a trap for them then back off and engage targets, lure them to the trap, then mop up the rest...quietly.

Jebidiah Figgs - A cartographer out on a mission to explore and map out areas, he thought since delivering a parcel to the Mojave he was traveling to anyways was a double win. He is fascinated with tribal society and CL. But most of his ethics match with NCR and is interested in this Mr. House character. Hes a explorer and collector and loves to collect oddities. He tries to stay out of the big war going on and keep to himself and just live out in smaller settlements. But somehow it seems these factions keep creeping their ugly head on him and he still has a question(and a hole) burning in the back of his mind. Why that bloke shot him? Also he isn't much of a talker and stutters a bit, and is easy to intimidate.

For my first play through I'll prolly try and do what I would do in real life... not sure exactly what wepons I'll use tho. I guess just a mashup, but I tend to like big guns weapons :flamethrower:

After that playthrough I might try for hardcoe mode... which will determine a lot of how I act... if I don't however I've heard of people role playing a character which I think would be awesome and I'm not sure why I never thought of that. I also really want to try an unarmed character, I had no idea I could punch peoples faces off!

But yeah... I am going to spend hundreds of hours on this game. Probably my entire fall season!

I'm gonna be a quite, polite, calm type of guy who would rather appear opinionless and not get involved in conflicts that don't involve him. Internally though he is highly opinionated. However, the defining trait of his morality (and therefore, his actions) are going to be his selfishness. If two people want to shoot each other, let them. If a person wants to shoot him, he's not only going to shoot back, he's going to shoot to kill. He'll most likely carry around a two handed weapon (rifle, smg, etc) and a pistol at any time for self defense or to do mercenary jobs with. Something tells me that at some point in the main quest Mr. House, Caesar's Legion, or the NCR is going to betray/attack me, and when/if that happens he will do everything in his power to uproot them and destroy them, and he is going to succeed.. But, if they'll leave him be, he'll return the favor so long as they don't presume to control him.

Essentially, my New Vegas character is going to be me.

well since i preordered from amazon ( couldn't pass up that $30 cash back credit card deal  ) i'm planning to step out of my norm and attempt to play a tribal type character! might as well make good use of all the preorder bonuses..

to me he'll play very much like a native american ( not the modern drunk ones zing! ). he'll be honor bound, but also turn into a savage warrior when the need arises. he'll heavily focus on melee weapons + long range rifles and be very quiet and sneaky.

unsure of how the stats should play out but rougly something like this
S - 8
P - 1
E - 6
C - 3
I - 7
A - 8
L - 7

i felt like a tribal character should be more perceptive but gameplay-wise he would never use energy weapons which is why i dropped it to 1. i'm also not sure about charisma, is 3 charisma going to be useless? should i pump more into it or just drop that down to 1 as well

which is osmething that wasn't that well expanded, wouldn't mind enslaving everyone just for fun :D

i will probably be some sort of resourceful mountain man that spends a lot of time alone in the wasteland that will use guerilla tactics in combat situations and hunts all sorts of wildlife. of course it will be essentially to play on hardcoe for me and survival, crafting, sneak, melee, and small guns will be important skills for me

I make many characters, however my 'Main' character is a guy who everyone underestimates. Sadly its their mistake and they end up paying a price if they can't get it through there head that I run the operation. If you pay me then stay out of my way and I will take care of the job. Interfere in any way then you better hope you can pay your way out. :goodjob:

On my first playthrough i'll probably be a neutral mercenary with a soft spot for ghouls.
(e.g if there's a choice quest and one of the choices involves helping a ghoul or if a ghoul's being discriminated
then my char will go for that side)
