Favorite Local Food

Ichiban is cool...my family took me there for my birthday this past year. That's where they play with the food while they cook it in front of you.
Those guys can really put on a show....they always throw the food at you so you can catch it in your mouth....
I haven't missed once in two times being there.
Great show...great food.

Oh indeed! I was just there last year with my family and some relatives. Fun stuff! I am going to take my girlfriend there on our anniversary.

Not really local anymore, as it's spread all up the east coast, but Five Guys is my favorite place to get a burger. My local one fills the fries (a one cup order) to the top of the bag.

There's the local chinese restaurant called the Canton that serves the best food on the island imo, and the A&K Lick-A-Chick which is greasy as hell but so delicious.

One thing I miss from living in Texas is Blue Bell icecream. There's only a few states they sell it in, my current state not being one of them. One of the few products that actually lives up to it's slogan. It really is the best damn icecream in the country.
Alabama man here and I can confirm this. Blue Bell is the only ice cream I will eat, when I travel I just avoid the stuff.

I kinda want to go against the trend of Asian restaurants, but I'm having trouble thinking of a place in Melbourne with better food than http://www.redbeankitchen.com.au/. He really knows how to cook a stir-fry .

Sadly, I haven't been there in ages :(.

Damn you all. I'm starving but trying so hard to be good. We've got a local Chinese place that does the best crispy shredded chicken in hot special sauce EVER. But right now I just want a hideously giant kebab.

We have a kebab place that actually delivers. They're not the greatest kebabs, but being able to get them without having to venture outside is a big plus!

There's an ice cream parlour in a village not far from where I live that makes all kinds of ice-cream, including Irn-Bru and Chocolate Brownie flavours <3

We have a sandwich shop/bar/dessert bakery, serves amazing sandwiches and has over 300 kinds of beers available.
Plus a great pizza joint, decent Middle Eastern, Thai, Chinese, and Italian resturants.

Favorite local in regards to specialities of the state would have to be conch fritters and key lime pie.

That reminds me, there's an icecream place in Harrietville that is (was?) pretty good. Few years back I spent around a week staying directly across the road from them :D.

For burgers 'n chips, http://www.lordofthefries.com.au/ rates alright and gets bonus points 'cause I can actually eat them.
