Favorite Local Food

I know there are a lot of interesting little local shops all over the world.
Here are my favorites:

http://gabrielshoagies.net/...Philadelphia has nothing on theirs. I guarantee. Your taste buds will slap you silly.

http://www.blimpyburger.com/...A favorite of the University of Michigan Wolverine fans. Your minimum daily requirement of cholesterol, but Wow!

There's a local Chinese place that's expensive and extremely greasy but so delicious. Their lo mein is noodles smothered in the grease of the heavens.

Amazing, too bad I can't eat them anymore. My uncle and aunt are one of the few people who can make their own Persians. I'm not too sure how much other people in town know, but not many that's for sure. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persian_%28pastry%29

Damn you all. I'm starving but trying so hard to be good. We've got a local Chinese place that does the best crispy shredded chicken in hot special sauce EVER. But right now I just want a hideously giant kebab.

There was a good place near me that had the best clam chowder EVER!!! Sadly they closed their doors and i'm resorting to another place. Theirs is good but not as great as the Seafood Shack's clam chowder. Strangely the absolute best wings I can get are not from a local chain but from a Pizza Hut from their Boneless Wing Street Wings. Get the mild sauce with ranch for dipping and i'm happy as can be.

Awesome hibatchi bar. Very expensive, but the best sushi I've ever had.

The restaurant I work at. Best pork-chops in Ohio. Pretty good pasta too!

Ahh, hibatchi bars. We have a few of those where I live, the Ichiban and Shogun Hitachi. Very good food there, and very cool guys who cook in front of ya.

One of my favorite places... Okay so the website is not loading for some reason. But it is called Penora's Pizza. Fantastic pizza, subs, and wings. The cheese is always melted perfectly, and the balance between all ingredients and toppings is perfect! Here is what it looks like from street view: http://www.google.com/maps?q=Penora

Its an older picture, but a great place! They did some remodeling.
Can't link with normal text...? :P

Ichiban is cool...my family took me there for my birthday this past year. That's where they play with the food while they cook it in front of you.
Those guys can really put on a show....they always throw the food at you so you can catch it in your mouth....
I haven't missed once in two times being there.
Great show...great food.

One thing I miss from living in Texas is Blue Bell icecream. There's only a few states they sell it in, my current state not being one of them. One of the few products that actually lives up to it's slogan. It really is the best damn icecream in the country.

In-n-Out Burger

Edit: Oh, I thought this was of food places that originated locally. For local food in general I am also fond of the Gomen ramen shop. Ruby's Diner is also good.

The local takeaway serves killer donner meat/mixed kebabs. Throw in some garlic mayo and you know what to get me for my birthday

Too many to list. There are over 5,000 restaurants in the town I live in, and a surprisingly high percentage of them range from good to fantastic. The last place outside my immediate neighborhood I went to (last week) was http://www.kumascorner.com/. Great burgers and atmosphere, albeit a little small. The burgers are named after metal bands. I had the Megadeth burger...again. The first thing the server said to us when she came to our table was, "just FYI, we're no longer serving the Goat [censored]." Gotta love that in a restaurant.

Their food isn't particularly amazing (though they make a mean cheddar fry :P), but their restaurants have some neat themes. One is a 50s diner and another a fire house. Been going to the 50s diner since I was little.

There's an Indian restaurant here that got me hooked on Indian food. I used to hate spicy foods, but a love of Red Dwarf finally got me into that restaurant.

Its a North Carolina only BBQ chain, I love it. Food's great, and all the establishments have all this awesome 40s and 50s memorabilia.

We have a China Inn here (not sure if its a chain; I know its the only one I've ever seen) and you can get a bin full of either fried rice or lo mein for 20$. We're talking enough to feed ten people, here.

Then there are of course the local hibatchi grills.

Chinese restaurant in my hometown called China Clipper. Their chicken balls are phenomenal. Portions are very generous as well.
