Feedback to Final Patch 1.5

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 5:21 am

Anybody else having trouble getting back into Breezehome? I can go out the door (I have a save inside) and when I try to go back in, I get a CTD. It started with 1.5. I've already tried turning off all mods. I guess it's time for Lydia and I to move to Proudspire.

same problem here...i think i'll move to markarth lol

Players demand graphical enhancements. Bethesda provides them. Other players whine that now their game doesn't run as fast as it used to. Players demand Bethesda change things back. Bethesda does. Players demand graphical enhancements.

My computer owns Skyrim. I can run at the highest settings easily.

The grass shadows look like CRAP. I'd rather not have graphical improvements unless they are actually improvements.

You don't have to firewall block steam, you can go to Steam and play off-line for as long as like, and no patches will download/install.
Aye, but sometimes when I boot my PC back up, steam just does whatever it wants. I have full control over the firewall, and it's only a button press to re-allow it. :)
(If anyone knows a way of forcing steam to stay offline, please PM me.)
I guess noone took note of the subtle irony here.. PATCH 1.5.1..
Heh. Glad you liked it. :P

Well, if the Game Jam Vlog was a big push to Skyrims fan base and their expectations,
Patch 1.5 was definitely more a kind of Black Tuesday! It took away all excitement in less than a few hours, which in comparison took weeks to build up.
The emotional attitude of a customer towards a product should never be underestimated.
Of course, this won't lead to any consequences, like in political parties. But I hope it won't be served a dessert for the whole week.

For me "Delete Local Content" fixed everything.

Agreed. I also block at firewall, can block at router too if need be. I did not want 1.427 when it came out because of SD support and I have several mods that need script dragon. SKSE seems to update fast so that was not an issue. But if you install mods then some will not work after patches. I like to be able to decide if I want to use my mods or patch not let Steam decided what I want. After all it is my computer and a game I bought with my money. Oh they are also in my house. So shouldn't it be my rules...

Is anyone having issues with dropping items in the new patch? mine seems to drop below my char instead of where you point at w/c makes decorating my house even harder than it was before >.<

What? To fix the shadows we have to delete the game and reinstall again? No other solution??

patch 1.5 = patch 1.2 fiasco ?

Thank God I still offline mode ...

No uninstall required:

Try deleting your INIs and let Skyrim regenerate a fresh one. Also, try disabling all mods first and try run in 100% vanilla. I mean it, every single mod, all of it. Disable them.

I somehow have a feeling all of these complaints are coming from over-tweaked INIs/overmodded games...

Does the grass really need a shadow effect? That just seems a bit...excessive.

No no no, grass doesn't cast shadows. It's shadows ON grass (just like the oblivion graphics settings, except it actually works and there's no way to turn it off). So, say, a tree or your character will have their shadows also cast on grass, that area of grass covered by your shadows will be darker etc. It's a quite subtle thing and doesn't have any performance impact for me anyway. Previously if you stood on grass and viewed your character, your character wouldn't cast any shadows on the grass.

what does underwater look like now what did it look like before (yeh i need these things side by side to see the differences)

Underwater now has a depth of field effect (distant objects like shipwrecks appear blurrier the further they are), the transition while diving underwater is improved, and if you try to look up at the sky while underwater the water has a distinct ripple effect. It's basically what was shown in the gamejam video under 'enhanced underwater visuals'. Pre-1.5 the water just appeared like a color filter and was too 'flat'. Now it feels more like water. Here is a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNOXJ76mbxM although I should warn you that it's based on the beta patch and doesn't really capture the DoF effect very well.

Performance is still better than 1.0-1.3 however it looks incredibly ugly pretty much everywhere. The shadows just keep getting worse and the stuttering is getting worse as well.

The shadows have been bothering me a lot too.

The thing I have is that when I sneak kill something the sound sometimes is a few seconds late. And when the bow kill cam overlaps with the paralyze effect from the Bullseye perk, the target is only paralyzed but still alive, even though it was a [censored] killcam...

And before anyone comes with Mods, I don't have any that change/add kill cams. My mods might be responsible for some of the CTDs I experience, but not for this. ^^

//edit

Srsly? The english equivalent to gottverdammt is censored here?
