Feedback to Final Patch 1.5

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 10:21 am

The moves are great i like the bow shot^^ it's amazing to fly with the arrow to the target :D

but also a negative feedback.

i've started fraps in the background to look the fps in the game. head shaking... for a normal playable experience i must turn down the graphic to middle and this isn't axceptable. the fps was with the 1.4 patch between 30 and 50. and now with the 1.5 patch under 20. it's not fine to play a game with heavy lags and freezes when i will do something and first to wait more than 10 seconds till the game go a little bit forward.
Geforce 460gtx, AMD phenom 2 x4 955, 8096 mb ddr3 with winxp 64bit
i've played skyrim before with ultra details (texture packets and mods to improve the graphic) without problems.

what you've done withe the patch :D and now this. i'm to be found t o have a pc with crutches lol

sry for my bad english i hope you can forgiven me.

About the only downside to 1.5 is the noticable decreased average FPS... not THAT much, but I'm no longer averaging 60 FPS in exteriors. I have been testing since the 1.5 beta and nothing has changed between the beta and the final, as far as consistency is concerned. Everything works as expected; new kill cams, new underwater effects, grass shadows (which I assume is where the FPS loss is coming from), etc.

On top of that, I just finished a 3-hour session with some light mods:

HighResTexturePack01
HighResTexturePack02
HighResTexturePackFix
Unofficial Skyrim Patch
Static Mesh Improvement Mod - SMIM
Fixed Eye Adaptation
Shadow Striping Fix
Improved Skill Books Classic
Alchemy Enhanced XP 1.01 - WG
Stones of Barenziah Quest Markers
Crimson Nirnroot Quest Markers

Very stable, it was a straight 3-hour session, zero CTDs.

My system:

Intel i7 920 @ 2.4 GHz
Kingston HyperX 3 GB DDR3 @ 1066 MHz
nvidia GTX 480
Vista x64

All hardware at stock settings

Skyrim settings on "Ultra" via the button in the launcher, then I notched down shadow resolution to 2048

Seems it's killing a lot of peoples FPS. :/

Think I'll wait til Beth release 1.5.1
Read too much horror about 1.5 today
So much bugs, one is bound to affect me, unless I firewall block steam and stay on 1.4 for eternity  (Obviously not....)

Think realistically, if you saw a MOD on the Nexus where everyone said the new update breaks alot of things, you simply would stick with the old version until a new new version came out to fix the new version. Same with game updates imo.

Performance is still better than 1.0-1.3 however it looks incredibly ugly pretty much everywhere. The shadows just keep getting worse and the stuttering is getting worse as well.

The fps in 1.5 has dropped compared to 1.4 although not too noticable, might disable grass shadows.

I think the negative reaction is to 1.5 is exaggarated. It's not THAT bad. I have fairly old system (built in 2009) and I can play just fine. Sure, I'd love 60 FPS average but understandably my system isn't new, plus I'm cranking AA and AF, with the high res DLC on top... I can't expect to average at 60.

Still, with 1.5, I'm averaging around 50, which is good enough.

I like how you can't turn off grass shadows.. They didn't add it to the ini file.

Exactly, well if you rely on Nvid.d.d.d.dia. Sorry for the stutterer. Just imagined how forums would be after applying an official Betheeeesda.da..da...da patch... :bonk:
I bet they are doing the robot dance now at the studios..stronger, harder, better, robot. the return of the dwemer has just begun..

I am playing with very few mods. In fact I can't even use the HD DLC on my system.

The patch hasn't given me any slowdown that I can see.

I have seen the shadows on grass. It isn't a 'Wow that's awesome!', it just, well there. Not sure why it was added really but no harm in it I guess.

Under water is 100% better. I love it.

Archer Kill Cams are great, I love them. Archer Wound Cams are a pain in the butt. I can't do anything while the target I shot is still charging me and I'm stuck in Cam Mode. That needs to be fixed.

I haven't tried to marry Lydia yet, but it is nice to know the option is finally there.

You don't have to firewall block steam, you can go to Steam and play off-line for as long as like, and no patches will download/install.

i am running amd and it appears Nvidia users dotn have a problems, but i may be wrong. But as far as breakign and tearing, any solutions?

I'm guessing that, as with several other tweaks, a line will need to be manually added to the .ini to turn off grass shadows. Someone will discover what the line is in time, I'm sure.

Players demand graphical enhancements. Bethesda provides them. Other players whine that now their game doesn't run as fast as it used to. Players demand Bethesda change things back. Bethesda does. Players demand graphical enhancements.

Thanks, that green underwater view was very annoying.

But as for any other problems I seem to be fine. No FPS drops whatsoever, but then again I'm on a very mid range laptop and rarely get above 20-25.

Anybody else having trouble getting back into Breezehome? I can go out the door (I have a save inside) and when I try to go back in, I get a CTD. It started with 1.5. I've already tried turning off all mods. I guess it's time for Lydia and I to move to Proudspire.

For those having trouble getting the new underwater graphics effects and having shadow glitches, delete Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini in My documents/my games/skyrim, then launch skyrim via the launcher to regenerate them. Solved the problems for me and everythings running fine.

i've look into the game and the shadows on the gras are not enabled. i don't know what the problem is it. i haven't changed the hardware, the software drivers or something in skyrim. the only one i've done is updatet from final 1.4 to final 1.5
how can i disable the shadows into the prefs.ini in the options i didn't find a controler to switch the shadows on/off.
and the problem is continuous. when i must wait more than 10 secons till work the game a step forward i hate this. i hadn't problems with patch 1.4 why with 1.5? the beta to 1.5 i hadn't installed becaus i've readed by some players have extremly graphic problems.

how i can install skyrim to 1.4 and not 1.5? downpatch isn't possible with final patchs or i'm decive?

skyrim isn't playable for me with 1.5. from entrance whiterun to the door to dragonreach i need more than 3 minutes with normal walkspeed and that isn't normal -.-
