As you know patch hasn't come to us PS3 users yet.

But it has come to the other platforms and so I'd like to know what you're thoughts on it are.

Is horse combat fun?

Not for me that love to use spells, no. It's no new feature for us sadly, even with Bound Bow or Bound Sword - because it doesn't work.

Really, really hard to kill someone on a horse. It's really cool that you can use the bow while riding it. Better than on Oblivion.

Well, I enjoyed trolling a DB assassin from horseback, constantly circling him, pitting distance between us before making a pass and swiping with my battleaxe. It's effective as the horse only got tagged once, the rest of the time the assassin was flailing at thin air.

It's not perfect, but it's refreshing to finally be able to do something with a horse other than, well, running away...

Horse combat with bows is good, not great, but useable.
Horse combat with melee weapons, well, is less than useable. Its just one attack over and over again on only one side of the horse. I could barely kill something.
And I have been experiencing a drop in frame rate from time to time, that happens a lot and my game froze for no reason once since the patch. So those could be problems.
That's pretty much what I got out of it.

I'm still on the beta, but it works fine for me. Took some learning but both archery and horse riding look perfect. Haven't experienced any problems because of the beta that wasn't explained by some mod. So it seems relatively stable for me too.

For me RT gave me an attack on the right, and LT gave me an attack on the left...?

LT gave me a block.

Can you fire spells on horseback?
No. I don't think so. I read some patch notes saying you couldn't. Well, it may have been patch notes, may have been something else.

You can attack on either side of the horse. You just have to use the other mouse button as if you were blocking on foot. Horse combat was never a big deal for me but it is nice to have an option when you're ambushed on horseback. Every new option like this does make theworld seem alittle more real though.

I'm on Xbox and play a mage who isn't into horseback riding... yet. It seems that loading times are quicker when passing through doors, but I'm not sure though (I can't go back to compare). I haven't taken advantage of the mounted fighting capability yet. I noticed a couple of graphical glitches since I downloaded the patch (such as a horse that slammed itself vertically into a door, killing itself instantly, when I rode a carraige to Winterhold and an Argonian mage who decided to strip down to his boxers when we entered a dungeon together), but those may have been existing bugs... I had just never experienced them before in 200 hours of gameplay.

I was getting mad because I'm riding along when an enemy approaches.....and I'd jump off my horse. It was just habit. "I can do this from horseback now, dummy!"

Why does everybody complain about mounted combat? The only problem with it is that you can't use magic on it, which I'm sure will be added eventually.

As for "very hard to kill somebody" while on a horse....I've got to disagree. Once you get used to it and know when to time your swings, mounted combat is VERY efficient, especially so in dealing with hordes of enemies which you normally couldn't.

What I personally do when mounted is either use a bow or a 2-hander. I usually prefer using the 2-hander, and the strategy I deploy with it is sort of in and out, in a manner similar to jousting. I'll hold RT with my battleaxe/great sword, which basically readies up a power attack. The nifty thing is, when you're on horseback and do this, it doesn't power attack as soon as you hold RT, but rather holds the weapon mid-air, ready to strike as soon as you let go of the button. I basically use this to my advantage and let go when I get near the enemy, then I gallop in the other direction a little, turn around, prepare a power attack and start galloping towards them again.

I've been able to take on every enemy this way and it feels really epic. Try it out. =D

Bows aren't nerfed. The display damage was showing incorrectly, now it's showing correctly. Your damage is exactly the same as it was before.
