For me Skyrim is Flawless and Polished

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 3:57 am

My RPG experience consists of Fallout 2,3, New Vegas, and Oblivion. I was really into strategy games and then got into RPG. Skyrim feels like Age of Mythology turned into an RPG with a better story and huge quality content.

I like that it got rid of atributes, which can make you OP in an RPG, instead you got to work at something if you want to get good at it, which feels more RPG and simpler. It's got a great story, I love fighting for the Stormcloaks and for independence, a lot of the characters really etched in my mind like Cicero and a certain Red Guard member who teaches me a valuable lesson, or the Daedric Lords trying to seduce me into God knows what.

It's got crafting which I obsess over - love the fact I can craft weapons, armor, and cook my own food for that survivalist feel, a wonderful mansion in WinterHold (my favorite city) with a very custamizable house you would only dream in a mod. On and on and on.

It just feels perfect. And the beauty of it in ultra high graphics on my PC, no lag, no bugs.

Same here. On Xbox 360, 42" TV, surround sound, ground and controller shake when a giant walks past. It's a glorious game.

Flawless?

I've seen many floating trees, rocks, objects, etc.
I've experienced numerous Dragon lock ups.
I've experienced bugged quests.
The UI doesn't work properly with a mouse and is generally poor.
Enchanting is ridiculously powerful.
Companions/followers often block your way.
Some textures are an eyesore.
Shadows, even on max, look like they are being cast by lego blocks.
Draw/LOD distance is WAY too short.
Many spoiler related bugs I won't post.

Is it a good game? Sure. But flawless? LOL.

Go aggro an enemy, stand on a rock, go afk for 15 minutes and call that "polished."

Someone who just made a thread saying Skyrim is flawless is trying to insult me. Too funny.

Wipe that brown stuff off your nose, it stinks.

Ahhh... you must be using the "Rose Coloured Glasses" DLC. :whistling:

Skyrim is nice but it is far from flawless and polished. The sheer number of glitches and annoyances (ie companions getting themselves killed by running right in front of you all the time and blocking you into tight spots and refusing to move for ages) make what could have been a 10/10 into an 8/10.

Wait until you start getting NPC's kill you with one arrow right through your plate armour. That is so fun... NOT! Having to drop the difficulty just to get past instances like those ruins the immersion factor. I think I have loaded Skyrim more times than any other RPG I have ever played in my life (and I have played loads).

I once saw a floating naked man in the middle of the road. I thought it was cool.

The only companion I have is a horse and I'm smart enough to scout an enemy far enough to park my horse away from the fight. I still don't see how that applies to my gaming experience. Patching companions isn't going to affect me one bit because I don't use them.

RPG's aren't supposed to be "balanced" , that's for strategy games. RPG is about accessability and good story. And Fallout is a badge of honor, noob.

Like I care if they patch some texture glitch certain people get on a certain type of system /card.

Sorry but they ARE supposed to be balanced. A huge assed fire breathing dragon should be stronger by far than a bandit marauder... guess what happens in Skyrim though... Yup, the bandit is a LOT tougher than the dragon. That is why it is unbalanced and annoying at times.

For me Skyrim is amazing yet deeply flawed. The game world is great, but the combat and UI have serious problems.

Compared to recent games that have been released well before they were ready (fallout 3, new vegas, BF3) I feel that this game is near flawless. I've only encountered 1 glitch so far (lvl 23, doing all side quests before main story) and these minor glitches are not game-breaking, and can easily be fixed with a patch. Which I am not even concerned about because the glitches really have no effect on me while I play the game. I'm glad to have finally bought a game actually worth 60 dollars.

fallout 3 was good, had a lot of glitches but it was still playable. Battlefield 3 has plenty of glitches that need fixing before I can play it seriously, and New Vegas was COMPLETELY unplayable for me. game breaking save file corruptions, dozens of quests that would freeze or crash my xbox, and generally would always freeze if I spent too long in 3rd person. I don't understand the trend in releasing [censored] games, but its been annoying. I'm glad Bethesda redeemed themselves with Skyrim, New Vegas was a tragedy and even today with all the patches they released its still too much of a hassle to play.

Good job on Skyrim in my opinion.

Oh god... that made me lol. So your "Flawless and Polished" comment is because you refuse to use the buggy parts of the game. I was right... you are using rose coloured glasses.

Have you ran into a white or golden dragon, yet? There pretty damn tough, even on adept.

ok, genius queen. Do the math. I don't use companions, but lets's do math. Companion + melee = close combat quarters = things get messy in battle. Get a ranged companion you whiner.

Its a great game.
It will be even better when we get bug patch or two.

And it would have been even better if they hadnt removed spellmaking.

But all in all, an awesome experience.
So much to do, so much to discover.

No game will ever be flawless to everyone. People love complaining like cats like to screw. I just wanted to see if there was anyone who had zero problems and enjoyed their game immensly not dictate to every person who can't appreciate anything.

Btw, if you guys think this is buggy, try New Vegas. Buggy as a game can possibly get, great game, not flawless, but great game.
