The last thread was http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1435176-rel-frostfall-hypothermia-camping-survival-thread-8-status-20-released/page__st__180.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11163 was just released on Skyrim Nexus. Steam Workshop coming tomorrow.

It's up. Let me know if anything, uh, explodes.

It should be a straight upgrade, no fancy process necessary. Uninstall Frostfall 2.0, download and install Frostfall 2.1. Back up thy save games just in caseth!

A full change log is available in the read-me tab (the ! mark icon) above.

It will take me a little time to get the documentation in line with some of the new features, and I probably won't have time to do it today. But to summarize:

* Whole bunch of bug fixes
* Force feedback for controller users
* Sound effects when Freezing or Freezing to Death
* Hand-warming animations (SKSE required)
* Weathersense and Survival Skills hotkeys
* Ability to turn off Advanced Object Placement for much less script-intensive camp setup.

Let me know if you run into any issues.

Edit: Moved the change log link over to Evernote since Nexus isn't linking to the right one yet.

The 2048x2048 Travel Cloak, Fur texture is now available again as an optional download on the Nexus page. It was downsized to 1024x1024 in Frostfall 2.1 to ensure performance for a wider number of users.

Thanks, I know you mentioned you wanted to move onto Last Seed in earnest, but what's the time-line look like for the spell integration?

If I choose the preset for Lite, then exposure and freezing water cannot kill me.
So what happens to me instead? strength / stamina loss?
I could not tell from the website.
Thanks!

It stays at the effects of "Freezing to Death" (-75% Health, Magicka, and Stamina Regeneration; -60 Archery, One-handed, Two-handed, Block, Sneak, Speech, and all Magicka skills; -100 Pickpocket and Lockpicking. Significant movement penalty.) until you find something to warm you up. So you can walk (very, very slowly) to a fire somewhere. -100 exposure is the minimum; it doesn't get any lower.
The effects are described https://sites.google.com/site/skyrimsurvivorseries/frostfall/survival-basics-exposure ("effects of exposure").

General question: What does the message "Without shelter to trap the warmth, the heat is faint" try to tell me? :)

That you don't get full benefit of whatever heatsource you're close to because you're outside. Place a tent near it or find a heat source somewhere inside to really warm up.

That message pops up inside all the Nord ruins too next to all those charcoal-burning thingies. Considering the wind that always blows through them, it's not surprising, really.

It shouldn't pop up in interiors on 2.1. If it still does, let me know.

So the other day I was thinking to myself, "wow, those hide tents look really drafty. Aren't those supposed to be the warmest tents?" Then, out of nowhere, Tumbajamba drops a new tent mesh into my lap. http://i.imgur.com/uv7arEJ.jpg, less drafty http://i.imgur.com/y4pXYyK.jpg. It's like he could read my mind! Might be coming in the next update. (Thanks, Tumbajamba!)

Ah! Missed that paragraph. I will probably use this in my next play-thru!

Chesko: That tent looks very nice. Does it come in a snow-less version?

Enjoying the 2.1 update with no problems. Seems the hand warming animation plays a little too far away from heat sources, though. I was standing several feet in front of Jarl Balgruff, and while he was talking my pc decided to sit down and warm himself, even though I was several yards from the braziers on either side of the throne.

On another note, I use kuertee's http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18258 mod which works as a time sink for most actions you can perform (e.g. smithing, skinning, wood harvesting, reading, etc.). Smithing a weapon or armor can take a few hours and I sometimes end up freezing even though I'm standing over a 1000° fire. Is there a way exposure loss could be toggled off for smithing similar to combat or dialogue?

Thank you so much for the options for starting Frostfall at any time. I typically start out camping in the woods or left for dead with Arthmoor's LAL and it was a bit of an immersion breaker to not have Frostfall running from the get go.

I'm getting a "You are now prepared for travelling' message every time I load a save (as if I've just gotten a wood axe when previously I didn't have one)

No, you're getting a "you are now prepared to use camping equipment" message. Unless you're not.

I added that because people kept loading their save games and then trying to place a tent in the first 0.5 seconds after loading, and then complaining that it didn't work.

The snow, like on all of my tents, is dynamic. It's snowy if it's snowing.

Regarding the hand warming animation, I noticed that as well. It also plays the animation when you're not facing the fire (so you're holding out your hands into nothing), and much too far away (and during dialogue) from the fire.

For smithing: Would it be possible to add smelters and blacksmith fire pits as heat sources?

Forges are already heat sources. I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific. Smelters, probably not.

The animation needs a bit more work, yes. I'd almost consider it to be a proof of concept at this point. When I roll out the next update (on the day Dragonborn is released) it should be working a bit better.

Ah, then I probably missed the messages for forges. :) Sorry about that. With smelters, I'm rather sure, though.

Different strokes for different folkes of course, but I'm not a fan of it. It's a nice piece of work (especially how the other items fit into it), but to me this backpack looks like something I could pull off of a 21st century military soldier, not something I'd find in Skyrim. I'd attribute this to the boxy design and color choice. It just doesn't "fit" in with the rest of the game or the hoods/cloaks added in by Frostfall & Wet and Cold. Having a simpler leather/fur backpack with some pouches and handles seems much more fitting to the mod and the rest of the game.

(Edited due to boredom)

Different strokes for different folkes of course, but I honestly don't care for it. In my opinion this bag is far to square and looks like something you'd pull off of a modern soldier to me. Having a simple leather/hide/fur pack with some pouches/handles on it is more "fitting" to the setting in my opinion. Maybe the color choice is the problem, but I still feel that it's to square'ish. It is a nice piece of work regardless.

Agreed, I am not a fan of the new leather backpack, it seems too out of place, and prefer the backpacks currently in Frostfall.

My three issues with that backpack are 1: It's too square. That kind of seriously squared edge doesn't really hold when the backpack is full of items, and besides, it's not the most viable stitch to use... 2: the texture for the pack itself versus the utlrahighres buckle on the side - I'd honestly rather the buckle be low res than have horrifically mismatched quality, and 3 is purely personal taste: The colour. Even if it's a natural colour, I'd rather drag it through the mud for ten minutes had have dirt brown than that kind of babyvom green. XD That's just me though.

Come on Dragonborn! Release so modders can update and then I can PLAAAAAAAAY with this amazing mod and many others.

Well, for my part, I've been looking for / waiting for a backpack like this to come along for some time; something leather, clean, and more symmetrical. Diff'rent strokes. I will probably make it available for purchase from vendors.

It will be offered in green, brown, and black. And more options never hurt anyone.

I'm floating some ideas by Tumbajamba now for adding a bit more uniqueness to them. I don't want to do the amulet thing again, it's a big headache in terms of the Creation Kit side of things for that. So many crafting recipes... instead, I would perhaps like to do something where one of the flaps is open, showing some kind of item. This might be tied to the highest skill you have leveled. So if it's alchemy, you'd see empty potion bottles; if it's destruction, you'd see a destruction spell tome; if it's smithing, you'd see a blacksmith hammer, and so on. I dunno, just an idea I had. Not sure if it will happen. I just don't like hanging things off of a backpack just because it "looks cool", I have to have a reason for it, it has to either be contextual or be something you actually have in your inventory.
