Also, your working doc lists the Danube as being in Greenland, but it starts in Germany and runs through Europe.

I'm a scripter, not a geographer! I can't be held responsible for these things! :geek:

Literally tens of minutes of research has gone into this!

gotta love the brutal unbridled honesty of the matter lol!

I dont know if this issue has already been solved, but how about a non removable "Temperature phial"!? (You'll definately need a better name for that! :-) )

By placing and removing this item to the players inventory, dependent on the temperature, you'll be able to take a look at some kind of thermometer every time you like!

You could scale it like your hypothermia states:

Warm (Item description: "The phial is all warm!")
The liquid inside the phial has a slightly transparent golden color and is glowing.

Comfortable (Item description: "The phial has a suitable temperature!")
Transparent golden color, without the glowing effect.

Cold (Item description: "The phial is cold!")
The liquid has turned completely transparent.

Freezing (Item description: "The phial is freezing cold!")
The liquid turns to a cold transparent blue.

Freezing to death - Death: (Item description: "The phial is frozen!")
The liquid still has its transparent blue look, but with an added frost effect and some frost can be seen on the phial.

What do you think!?
I really like this idea of having a thermometer!
id be happy if it just when red yellow blue for temp range. but more subtle would be more realiatic or just pleaseing?! i dunno, but it court my eye because i was thinking the same for the ep lost in the active effects section of the menu, making it 'at a glance' proof could be good imo by giving the spell effect above the description a red-yellow-blue colour dependent on level of hypothermia being exsperienced?!

So, feedback to the user in lieu of a meter on the screen is something I didn't pay enough attention to. I'm pounding out code for 3 things related to keeping in touch with the player:
  • More useful status messages.
  • A ring that, when equipped, prints a status message at the top of the screen, which you can spam as often as you like. It would display the message "on equip", so you could hotkey it if you like, and swap between your favorite ring, without going into the Inventory menu and interrupting the flow of your gameplay. Maybe the stone changes color like Knock-Knock and .sidekick have suggested above, like a mood ring.
  • A configuration item that when used brings up a menu with /very/ detailed information about your current condition, the weather's current condition, and future space for a configuration option.

These are all pretty simple to do and shouldn't hold things up. I just don't want the player to ever feel like they're disconnected from knowing how they're doing and what they need to do.

Good news - v1.0 is finished!

Please be patient while I put together the Readme and REL-thread documentation and other assorted stuff.

I went with a system similar to what .sidekick suggested (thanks for the inspiration!). You will be given a Weathersense Ring with a gemstone that changes color depending on the conditions. I recommend you hotkey it to a number key so you can check your status at any time. Here's a cheat sheet of the messages you'll see when you equip it (minus the degree readout in C).

+18oC - "EP: ##/100 - The gem glows brilliant emerald."
18o - 15oC - "EP: ##/100 - The gem glows bright green."
15o - 11oC - "EP: ##/100 - The gem glows faintly green."
10oC - "EP: ##/100 - The gem is crystal clear."
9o - 6oC - "EP: ##/100 - The gem glows faintly blue."
5o - 1oC - "EP: ##/100 - The gem glows a pale blue."
0o - -4oC - "EP: ##/100 - The gem glows azure blue."
-5o - -9oC - "EP: ##/100 - The gem glows dark blue."
-10o - -14oC - "EP: ##/100 - The gem glows midnight blue."
-15oC and below - "EP: ##/100 - The gem is pure black."

Thank you again for everyone's support, it's helped propel me through this project. See you on the REL thread soon.

Would you be able to include Farrenheit as well? (Perhaps a toggle in the options menu)

The temperature reading won't be displayed (as I note above). Maybe in the future.

ETA is about 30 minutes. You can use an existing character.
