Game series you loved, but the love is gone

Call of Duty 1 was the best, afterwards... eh. I'll pass. None of the games have ever come even close to being as good as the first one. Not by a long shot.

Mass Effect is now dead to me. I'll never play another game in it. Just finish it up (extended) and then never look back. It's over...

  • TES - Skyrim just didn't do much for me at all, and with the direction the series is heading in, I can't see myself getting overly excited about TES VI.
  • Total War - still enjoy the games, but haven't loved a TW game since Medieval 1. Rome was the start of a gradual decline in my opinion.
  • Medal of Honor - everything after Allied Assault has been poor. I think competing with COD really killed the franchise.
  • GTA - IV wasn't a bad game, but I didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as III, VC, or SA.

Mass Effect - I've heard this called a series before, but I'm pretty sure it was just one game. Yep, just one great standalone title that never got any sequels. :whistling:

Sonic the Hedgehog - Poor guy has had a few good games recently (Colors, Generations), but those haven't done much to change my opinion of the series in general, which lost me after Sonic Adventure 2.

Star Ocean - I never really loved Star Ocean, but the first two games were pretty good and I can't really say the same about Til the End of Time and The Last Hope.

Resident Evil. They were cool until they turned into bad TPS wannabes :(
If by TPS you mean Third Person Shooter, you should know that Resident Evil 4 actually revolutionized the TPS genre. Up until then the "over-the-shoulder" mechanic was completely unheard of. Many other games like Gears of War extended upon this idea with the cover system (among other things) but Resident Evil 4 was the first.

I can't think of any game series I don't love anymore. I guess I could say TES lost some of it's spark to me, but I still play it occasionally.

Skyrim is too shallow.
