How much did item durability and attributes really add to Morrowind & Oblivion though? Especially given the level of micromanagement invoked by the way attributes increased based on skill ups.

But what about exploration? Does Skyrim have some of the depth that Morrowind had (handcrafted detailed world, etc.)?

Dude you can't even tell if your poisoned or buffed or debuffed in this game without haggling through that [censored] UI through 3 different screens to the Active Skills...

They couldn't even be bothered to add a little debuff or buff icon on the screen.

This game was dumbed down, simplified and turned into a straight forward ADD riddled console port.

Better get your Ritalin ready...

My only issues are the clunky controls and console-UI. Some textures could be better, but this really doesn't bother me. If Bethesda streamlines the controls for PC Skyrim will be perfect for me.

For the most part I'm happy enough with the game.

Maybe I'm just nitpicking, but so far my one complaint (besides the horrendous UI) has got to be the lousy third person controls. Maybe I'm just too used to the way you handled your character in Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, but the way it is handled now doesn't seem right to me.

...And now back to more gaming. :wavey:

I don't care too much one way or the other about graphic detail, but I am annoyed with the UI. Maybe I'll get used to it, but it's not intuitive to me and I miss equipping my char through paper dolls. I'd much rather see my char and the changes equipping weaps and armor than those loving detailed pictured of the items.

Game crashed once, but that's because some other $^%%$#!! pgm decided it wanting updating while I was playing.

Really unhappy with the inventory.

well after getting past the inital instant game crash that was fixed with changing the sound quality (really?!?!) i have yet to run into a glitch or bug and have been playing for almost 12-13 hours. the only issue i have a some random crashes after playing for a couple hours but wat i wanted to know is why is everyone hating on the graphics? i think they look gorgeous and this is comparable in many ways to the witcher 2 which imo had the best graphics this year that ive played. this game is really amazing and way too addictive

I'm loving the game ( i knew i would)

But...some times the graphics looks awefull, the textures really too low for PC. It would of been so much better they had taken advantage of modern graphics cards. It's a perfect example of an Xbox game on PC tbh. A good one though ;)

Looking forward to some texture mods big time.

fingers crossed they will give us some DX11 features in the future for Skyrim.

I hate that I had to use a 360 controller to get the anolog character movements other then that I am happy. I just have to spend 60.00 on a mouse that supports special features. Cause I can't have accuracy and anolog movement of walking, running, and jogging. The UI is garbage, but with a controller is flawless. SO. Just have to get a special mouse I suppose.

I don't know why everyone hates the game so much. I've been playing it on PC for about 12 hours total now and I love it and i've only hit 2 bugs. One of which was fixed by simply reloading my last save. Pro tip for new games = save often to avoid problems.

We've known for a long time its going to be a console port so we knew that the textures and things won't be up to what they could be. And it's a new game, of course there will be bugs, im suffering from one that stops me doing the thieves quests but i understand these things happen.

What amuses me most is the people going "I've known this game would be rubbish for months, I knew from looking at all the previews and stuff" and yet they still bought it....

I am a PC gamer and i LOVE this game. I play it on Ultra-Settings and runs super smooth and looks just amazing. The atmosphere is beyond anything i've experienced in any other game yet- and i play computer games since the late 80's.
I am absolutly blown away by the experience.

The UI is somewhat cumbersome but not nearly as bad as some people make it.

This is a gem for pc gaming.

So I don't actually have Skyrim yet, but I keep seeing all these issues especially with the pc version... not to mention a day 1 patch, which is a pretty bad sign...

http://www.gamefront.com/pc-gamers-complaining-about-skyrims-textures-ui-mouse-keyboard-support/

What do you guys think?

I'm on PC.

I've made quite popular 3rd party stuff for PC flight simulators, so I feel I have a pretty high standard as far as a PC entertainment title goes.

I am very satisfied with Skyrim. In fact, "satisfied" suggest I'm just OK with the game, which is not the case. I'm enjoying the hell out of it. I think it's very good indeed. I don;t carry hang-ups like "it's a port so it's crap" around with me

My yardstick is:

Is it a fun waste of my time? Skyrim is one of the best fun time wasters yet

Omg yes this is great, look at how angry people are, it isn't just me!!!
Cry moar.

Over 200,000 people are playing Skyrim on Steam right now. Only a dozen or so people are on a forum posting negative things. Do the maths
*math

But I agree with your point. Not to mention the millions playing on consoles that AREN'T complaining. Like Bethesda has stated before "we know we can't please everyone." On that note, I'll go back to Skyrim while drinking this delicious Irish mead :celebration:

I have it for PC, I've been playing for 12 hours straight and it runs great. Not sure what all the issues are though. I actually have yet to see a glitch :)
Yeah, I have been playing it for like 10 hours, and the only glitch I have encountered is somebody sitting on a chair back-to-front. Nothing game-breaking.

From what I can see, the UI, low res textures, low poly models, lack of shadows, and usage of Dx9 are all some pretty serious issues. Then of course there's the streamlining Bethesda subjected the gameplay to despite all the hubub about what they did with Oblivion. I'm definitely holding of for a while to see how this pans out.

It certainly seems to vary from person to person. I'm fortunate that my system is running it pretty well, in many cases better than the people with higher end rigs. The only thing that really bothers me is the counterintuitive UI scheme and keymapping problems. The game itself seems fine to me.

1) Not everyone has high definition monitors or sound systems, so to these people, I'm sure the game will look or sound better than if they actually did, given their current computer hardware. In fact, I still enjoy playing games like Baldur's Gate 1&2 and Icewind Dale 1&2. I even enjoy how they look. Those were way before 2006.
2) Everyone is different in what they look for in a game. The ones complaining are usually the ones that are very specific in their needs in a game.
3) There has never been a game or piece of software that was perfect on release day.
4) There may be over 200,000 people playing it on Steam, but that doesn't mean they aren't dissatisfied with some things. People don't have to complain to be dissatisfied. Not everyone is comfortable with complaining either. If you really think that 200,000 people playing the game on Steam = they're all happy campers compared to the "handful" that are actually complaining, then it show's how really dense you are.
5) The "million" of people who are playing it on console also are subjected to #2 of this post. And same thing goes for them in that not everyone who finds a flaw in the console version is going to rant about it.
6) Yes, it's quite possible that the creators behind this game may have lied, in that the PC version would not be a port from a console, and people are angry at that. Let them. You really going to let those people dictate how you enjoy your gaming experiences?
7) The biggest issue people are having: Buying this game and not having it live up to their expectations. That's $60 down the drain, for them... hell, what about those people who paid over $100 for the collectors editions? In fact, this is what it always comes down to for any game out there. My advice, don't jump on something right away because you think it will be "AWESOME!!!".. do your research first and then see if what the nay sayers are expressing, is something you can live with. If you don't, then the joke is on you.
