Leydenne Oked it. This time, makin rules.

Insecurities, leave em at the door.

No baiting. We're a svcker for live bait here dangit.

Same as last thread, genders of your characters. Go. Also, character stories.

So, i've been having fun with a few of my characters in RP. I'm in a Fallout RP based in Florida, playing a female pyromaniac. She's a bit of a sue, yes, but holy hell is she fun to play. We got in a fight with some of the local wildlife, which were the size of cars. Her way of killing the biggest one? Flamethrower down its throat while it's on top of her trying to eat her. The GM was SO DAMNED MAD because it took one turn to kill his boss.

Again, I do both genders.

In TES and Fallout 3/NV, I never was female but in Guild Wars I was a few times.

I guess it was the designs :hubbahubba:

I play as both genders, but I'd say I prefer making male characters at first playthroughs. I do find myself making female characters for role-playing reasons (in games such as Skyrim and Fallout), and playing as a male all the time can get dull.

In the 20-some minutes since I posted in the last thread, I've still never created a female character.

My characters in games are an extension of myself. As such, they're usually large males with a chip on their shoulder.

Glad to see it up and regulated!

Like the last thread, I play both genders depending on the circumstances. I'd rather look at a female character than a male, but I'd rather hear a male than female, so in first person games, I go with male almost every time, while in third person, I go with female almost every time.

I change this up for roleplay purposes or if animations are painful to look at.

Here's the answer I was typing when the original thread was closed before I could hit "post." ;)

Typically I pick female, if I have a choice. But it's largely aesthetic vs. any serious "I'm a female so I want a female avatar" thingie. eg, I don't want to play/look at Conan the Barbarian (or Goblin) in silly, over-sized fantasy armor complete with huge spiky shoulder pads on steroids.

However, if I know of/like the male voice actor doing the male version, or I can't stand the female chr. voice acting, I'll switch it up. I have to listen to these chrs. battle cries and comments 10000 times after all, and if the voice makes me cringe and cover my ears, that isn't going to fly....so essentially, to me, the voice is much more important than the gender, with art/style 2nd. In games where there isn't any voice or art issue, I really don't care much one way or another...I just pick female first out of habit.

I always play as a female character for no reason at all. All of my PC's and electronics are female, my desktop is named Mikuru Asahina, my phone is Akari Mizunashi, my portable hard drive is Homura Akemi, and my DSi is Ritsu Tainaka.

Most of the time I like to play as a sneaky archer/sniper type character. I think it's a ton of fun

As before, generally both, whatever fits the character I'm creating. Less in one direction if the game in question has bad animation/design/other visual unpleasantness for one group. In Titan Quest, for example, I tend toward female characters because the males have an odd, blocky run that gets annoying to stare at, while in other games the stereotypical chainmail bikini might make the female characters too stupid-looking to tolerate.

I generally play males.

The way I see it, if I'm going to be staring at my character's ass for hours on end, I might as well enjoy the view. Plus I'm male, so it also helps me identify more with my character.

Well this is an interesting thing to say for my 7,777th post.

As I wrote in the last thread, I'm a third-person player. My characters are not me, and I often specifically design them to be in stark contrast to the real me. I use my characters to explore other points of view and philosophical positions. My relationship with my characters is like the relationship between an author and his creations, or, at the worst of times, a mad scientist and his lab rats.

As such, I play either gender, as the mood suits me. Gender, race, species... these are all superfluous details in comparison to how my character views the world.

I usually play as a male if given the choice. However, I have no issue playing as a female.

I do something similar to this, but I don't like that anology. I tend to get into my characters head, in the end, putting myself in the characters shoes to see how they would react to a situation, their morals, etc. The only thing I do with mine prior to this is give them a few quirks, a name and a gender.

As said, either depending on the game and character I want to make. The way I see it, I'm not putting myself into the character, I'm putting the character into the character. It's only weird if the character's questioning his/her own gender. I don't recall ever making a character like that, but I'll leave the option open.

In the 20-some minutes since I posted in the last thread, I've still never created a female character.
I'll see if I can convince dragoon to extend the gap between the 2nd and 3rd thread to half an hour, to give you more time.

I like the direction it's taking. I expect an increase in ass/post ratio over the next 2,223.

My PCs are usually female/non-gendered AIs. The exception being my laptop, which is a cross-dressing guy who is net idol.

Edit: Oh, we're talking about game characters? Well, then I play whichever gender fits the character profile I'm trying to build.

Yep, I do this as well. Good, bad, male, female, robot, alien... it's fun to try something different each time.

I must admit. I do have a preference to Robot/Android/Cyborg-majority-robot whenever given the choice.

I play as females in MMO settings, or single player, if there is a huge clothing selection.

In MMO's, I will pretend to be a female in real life to get free help/items. I will also use my trust to steal items, which usually gets me suspended or banned, regardless of the EULA saying that all player disputes are to be handled between the players themselves. Hypocrite mods for the lose.

Unfortunately, that choice is pretty rare.

So how effective is that tactic? :whistling:

Although I do consider myself lucky that I never attracted any unwanted attention the times that I've played a female in an MMO.

I got hit on once when I was playing my priestess in WoW. Thought he was just RPing so I went with it, then I learned he was doing it cause he wanted to 'ERP'. Ran the [censored] outta Ironforge and never went back on that character.

As has been said, extension of self ect. So mostly male. Though every once in awhile for something different I'll role up a female character.

Perhaps the rotting flesh of my female undead was a bit of a turn off...

I've done it before and gotten free stuff. It was...awkward having to explain after I changed my character's gender.

I've always played a male, since I'm a male myself. I don't know why, I guess because playing a female just doesn't appeal to me.
