General or funny screenshots

Post » Wed Feb 09, 2011 12:58 am

I've just got a couple of screenies here, I hope they're not too dark. And I hope I've done the links right, first time i've posted screenshots on this forum.

Your pics came through just fine, but they are a bit dark. I edit all of mine because they are always too dark from the generic printscreen capture. I use Photoshop which is big, expensive and a steep learning curve - but I use Photoshop professionally so I know many tricks and can do things quickly. Maybe some of the other image capture posters on this thread can shed some light (pun intended) for ladyhawke and others how they can brighten their images more easily and cheaply than Photoshop.

Take it away, LadyC . . . (and others)

and the action one. Makes for some entertaining viewing, they're all great.

Thank you very much!

LadyHawke, they are a little on the dark side but not to worry. If you want to ligthen them a little bit there is a program, http://irfanview.com/ and it's free. It has 2 features that are very easy to use. You can Auto Adjust your picture which will make it lighter but sometimes it casts a funny color usually blue on the screen and I don't always like that so instead you can use Color Corrections/Gamma Correction to lighten your shot a little bit. Irfanview is very easy to use and did I mention it was free? Also, if you use the game screenshot feature, they are saved in .bmp, so you can use the Irfanview to do a batch conversion and change your entire batch of screenshots from .bmp to .jpg.

Victor cracked me up! Did he come into the Bison Steve to talk to you or was it just a bug? I've thought about zapping him and using him for a companion but I haven't tried that yet. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your shots! :tops:

For casual graphic & photo work I still use PaintShopPro9, because I have it. It's basically a poor-man's photoshop - quite useful/fairly in-depth for the price but less intimidating/easier to use imo. Usually get the best results messing with the curves/histogram stuff vs. only brightness/contrast sliders but for screenies that's often overkill so no biggie.

@ladyhawke - a little dark but plenty viewable. :) Sometimes I turn on the Pip-boy light for screenies, even if it does make a green glow, lol. Or turn the game brightness up. Fraps seems to take note of the brightness setting, I don't know about Print-Screen.

Victor likes to show up in the darndest places. He popped up once in that radiated Reaver spot/shack with all the green water (nearish Primm), and got stuck... lol

Thanks for those tips, i'll definitely have a look at those programs. I only managed to just grab that screenshot of victor in time as he left, he showed up in the coyote cave as well in Goodsprings in another game. I have a feeling once your hitpoints are low around Goodsprings he'll track you down whever you go, I thought I was alone in the Bison so he sure made me jump when I spun around to see him there. The funniest shot of him which I didn't think to take a screenshot of, was him standing in the tent with the other npc's in Novac instead of his usual place, must have been lonely.

This one took me a while to set up, it's something I'd love to be able to do in the game.

me "Boone I can't find the key, do you know how to get these collars off"

Boone "sure, go get a screwdriver I'll show you how it's done"

me "Ok I'll see if I can find one"
"Siri if they move anything amputate it"

@rcb - Someone should fetch Cliff...he has a whole army of dino's that could help. :D

Marching, marching, two-by-two. And that's exactly what happened. The good dinkydinos of Novac, uncorrupted by the likes of Jennie May and others of her ilk, have marshalled their forces from the Dino Bite Gift Shop and decended on the Evil Gnome and the evil dino brethren in an attempt to squelch the harassment of the parade.

Sorry for the double post.

But can one of you fellow (fellow-ess?) posters enlighten me how to create the external link to my images where you have a word or phrase underlined that the viewer clicks on to see the image instead of the direct link to my photobucket site. I've tried and can't seem to get it to work. Thanks in advance.

I click on Insert link on this forum and in photobucket there are options under the individual photos in your album for links. I use the "direct link" one which auto copies the link when you click on it. The window that pops up on this forum has two entries top one you paste the link from photobucket, the second one is for you to give the link a title. That's the way I set up the screenshots. I hope that makes sense.

There is an example of how to do it if you want to see it, just quote me and look at the code. Thats with a text link if you just want a direct link it would be:

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z450/rcbpics/marching.jpg

IIRC if you post a direct link it will automatically make it a direct link so no need to add the url tags.

hope that helps RCB

Andaius, you are just having WAYYY too much fun with your toys! I love them, keep the laughs comin' dude!

And rcb this is the code if you want to have a link with a description, just don't use the $ and the space after the = and the /, make sure to remove them!

[url= $]description[/ url]

The picture link goes after the equal sign. NO space, no $ and remove the space after the / infront of the url] The description goes in the middle where it says description.

You're trying to use the img code and it's disabled here on this forum. Images won't work.

So, ED-E, Veronica and I were exploring a vault and we went by a http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z450/rcbpics/lockeddoor-1-1.jpg with ghouls hiding in it. All of a sudden, Veronica is in the room knocking the green ooze out of the ghouls as I looked on through the window (left panel of image). What's so funny about that, you ask? The room was INACCESSIBLE to us as you can see in the right panel of the image! How the heck did Ronnie get in there? Did she go through the wall by diapedesis?* I had to reload, of course, because I couldn't get her out of there.

*diapedesis = the ability to pass through solid walls, as certain blood cells can pass through the walls of blood vessels.

And thanks to you wizards who helped this muggle figure out how to create an underlined external link.

OH that svcks! Sometimes you can actually move a companion by trying the Z key on them, try picking them up and moving them. Also, you can try tcl and go into the wall and see if you can push them out. Just remember to turn it off when you're done. And I'm glad to see your linkie, good job! :celebration:

LOL One time in FO3, I got so pissed at the Outcasts, I used the Z key, held him in front of me while Mr Gutsy fired away at us, it was a riot, so you never know, it might work. ;)

@RCB
Thats one of the "ambush rooms". You'll find the door knocked over when you come up from the armory. ;) (That is Vault 34 right?)

Yeah, Vault 34. I completed the whole vault eventually. The first time through, I saw the inaccessbile door and surmised that I would find a key or terminal somewhere to open it. Walked a bit down the hallway and then I inexplicably began to get xp for killing things. Turned around and found Veronica inside of that room doing the killing. The surprise to me was how she managed to get in there. I just didn't expect her to have the magic ability to "Pass Through Solid Walls". Maybe that's a Perk that could be implimented in a future DLC. Many creatures seem to have it at random, why not the PC by choice?

I know about teleporting or changing cells to recover companions and tcl to negate the environment (which I've never done). In this case it was just simpler to reload my quick save.
@LadyM - I've never tried the Z key to move a companion. I've always just walked into them to push them somewhere. I'll try your Zkey caressing method tonight. Will Veronica slap me?

(I don't know if it's just my game, but sometimes npc's/companions will keep on shooting/swinging for a few seconds after a kill-shot, like there's some kind of latency. It's kinda funny)

...took a while, but this thread is almost full, may make a new one soon.

I remember your comment a while back that you were going to drop a thousand tiny dinos out of the mouth of the big dino but you gave up. I was going to have all thousand of them marching out of the courtyard, but I gave up for the same reason you did. You cannot drop them one at a time from inventory unless you have a stack of 5 or less. After I dropped 30 or so and painstakingly lined them up, my enthusiasm for this project began to wain. Still, the 'lol' factor was attained to my satisfaction.

LadyC, please keep this thread going. It's one of the few I really enjoy. The threads about whether FONV is > FO3, or which weapon is the BFG or which faction or companion is the best, or my all time favorite: "I'm a level 3 newbie and I can't defeat Deathclaws. Can anyone help?" For me, not so much fun. But visuals of cool and unusual stuff and overall game glitchiness - peachy keen. You have my permission to continue . . .

Yeah...the other issue with dropping them out of the dino mouth is that the game drops them in a relatively even circle all around your character, so only about 1/3 would end up falling to the ground out of the big dino's mouth...plus the viewpoint from the instant of dropping isn't that great. No time to turn on tfc & change view angle in time. :/

Don't think I posted it here before but http://crimsonkeep.com/wallpapers/data/media/33/falloutNV-0001068.jpg where I only dropped 10. Gives an idea.
Plus one where I http://crimsonkeep.com/wallpapers/data/media/33/falloutNV-0001069.jpg, which is what gave me the idea in the first place.
