Giving a child a dagger

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 7:45 pm

Does it have to be a specific dagger? Or can I give them a daedric dagger?

You can give them any dagger except some of the unique ones, Nettlebane did not work.

Well, I guess they need some means of self-defense. Children are only essential when the Dragonborn is present, after all.

Yeah I read that you can adopt Children and can give them clothing, toys, and a weapon (wooden sword or dagger). I am roleplaying a Dragon Slayer who uses mainly "realistic" looking sets of armour, so I would love to be able to give everyone a set of Ebony Daggers :P

I can imagine...

The Dragonborngives his son a humongous greatsword. It's so heavy, the poor kid collapses to the floor with the sword on top of him.

DRAGONBORN: "Don't worry, son. You'll grow into it."

yeah great gitfs because they're really not practical in combat. I bet the Dovakiin hates it when he has to swing that giant heavy burden around.

Give them any daggers besides One of a kind, Imagine giving your children the blade of woe. I think that's a short sword though.

I actually saw the kid at the Heartwood mill equip a greatsword. A "Traveller" vampire (Dawnguard) attacked me at the mill and I let the guard do the bulk of the fighting so that I could get him out of the way. (I needed to kill Grosta to clear her broken quest from my log.) After the guard died, the kid took his greatsword.

Their home is only under attack when the dragonborn is present.

My game must be glitched, then. Because everywhere I go, people's homes are under attack. ;)

I gave Sofie a wooden sword and she immediately ran to the basemant to whack the childs practice dummy with it. Was kinda funny because she knocked all the stuff on the floor around while doing it.

Interesting thought, almost enough to RP a character based on it, since THAT sounds like the Lone Wanderer from Diablo 2, kinda. Or Corporal Kellach from GW2: Someone who is cursed to bring all sorts of misfortune, conflict, and death wherever he goes without doing that himself, regardless of intent, but is essentially invincible to these misfortunes himself.

When they're old enough, they might use it to kill you....

That will only make him compleat, and turn him into the perfect little minion. Evil cannot be truly killed by evil, thus, only a stonger one will take its place, and the Dragonborn Legacy will begin, and you can rule Tamriel as father and so-- wait, wrong universe.

If you give a child a dagger, she might want a stone to sharpen it with.
And if you get him a stone to sharpen it with, he might be reminded of how much he liked to collect rocks, so he'll want to go to the river to look for rocks.
And if you take him to the river, he might decide that he wants fish for dinner, and ask you for a fishing pole.
And if you give him a fishing pole, the colorful float float might remind him of candy, so he'll want to go to the Winking Skeever for a honey nut treat.
And if you take him to the Winking Skeever for a honey nut treat, on the way there he'll see a fox and want one for a pet.
And if you take him out hunting for a fox...

OK, OK, I'm gonna stop now before someone drags me out back and whacks me repeatedly upside the head with copies of "If You Give a Moose a Muffin".

I actually like this. I've been working on my enchanting so that I can one day remake as many legendary weapons as I can.
