GNR ban fans from wearing Slash T-shirts

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 9:24 am

I love GNR.. My name. I have 2 Slash shirts 3 GNR shirts, but Axl Rose is a [censored] and honestly their music is dead now. I like their old stuff yes, but nowadays- nahh.

It would seem that GnR is irrelevent given the times. IE: no one really gives a flying f about Axel and GnR they haven't done anything in the past decade so therefore their music and Axel is irrelevant and out of style as is his band and his music. As evidenced by their last album, "Chinese Democracy" where it only sold 261,00 copies in it's first week. And then only 3,200 copies in the US as of April 3rd, 2011. Which means, they svck. Sure the album was certified "Gold" in Canada; but who cares?
Yes, because not conforming to whatever happens to be getting shoved down your throat by modern media makes something irrelivent. Maybe if Axl were to get on stage do a silly dance routine, cut his hair short and spike it up (or whatever is considered cool these days) and maybe break out into a rap he would be relevent then. Thankfully he has enough dignity to not do that unlike Madonna as an example who will prosttute herself to whatever is relevent at the time.

Not denying Axl is a dike though.

Popularity does not equate to quality either

People still go to GNR concerts?
Hey I went to the one in Chicago, and it was a really great concert.

Yeah, Axl is a bit of a drama queen, but the guy can still perform very well. And Slash is overrated, very overrated. The guys Axl is touring with are much better. Sounds like a lot of you are just putting Slash on the pedestal for what he used to be.

No, I'm saying that because Slash actually turns up on time and actually puts on a good show and doesn't act like a bellend on every given occasion.

LOL!! Oops....

For not caring, you sure put a great deal of care into how much you do not care. If you truly didn't care, you wouldn't have made any posts to begin with and just leave the thread instead of bumping it up. But no, you try to make us care about how little you supposingly care? What utter nonsense.

Ooh...sorry for trying to be a part of the conversation. Clearly it bothers you to have someone not share the same opinion on the matter and all that. I also like how people react to other people whom have different view points.

http://www.nme.com/news/guns-n-roses/64110

Wondered if anyone's caught this today? Any thoughts? So what do we think?

I'm also fairly certain the OP as quoted above asked for different view points on the relevant subject matter. Or, am I mistaken? Did he ask for the opinions of those who happen to like GnR?

Nope, I'm pretty sure he asked "What do we think?" as in a collective. I'm positive my opinion fits into the collective discussion at hand. So, Odd Elf, as for you comment....my comments have been well within the context of the topic and discussion. I....don't really care that you don't like what I have to say. I have also made two posts (three counting this one) and each one of my posts has been relevant (there's that word again) to the topic. Each one has been about GnR. Your one post is actually, 'Utter nonsense' as it hasn't contributed a damn thing to the topic save for what, starting with me? Good job. You winz da internetz!!

Now, on topic...

When I was younger I loved GnR. But after he went crazy I stopped buying the albums and stopped following them. I was excited for Chinese Democracy but after the reviews it got and having heard some of the songs I realized it wasn't something I wanted to listen to anymore. I also never thought Slash was anything special. I like Joe Satriani better. The only thing Slash has really going for him is that hat. I'm not saying Slash isn't good at what he does, I just don't htink he's what everyone makes him out to be.

I really grabbed life by the balls posting a GNR topic here woaahhh. I also thought 'Three Dog?!' :fallout: after reading GNR, only just realised!
There's clearly alot of strong Axl/Slash opinions here but just to reiterate what do people think of the articles content? I think the boys comment in NME was quite relevant; Axl's displayed an unappreciation for fans by showing up on stage late and the t-shirt business just makes no sense. It seems strange that a rock band is able to make demands like this...

Took me a while to realise that Fallout 3's GNR was nothing to do with the band...

I guess this episode is part of Axl's quest to be the biggest egomaniac in rock. Thought he was already there, though.

Bono still has him beat out, I believe. Or Morrissey, if we still consider him a contender.

Bonio's much more smug and Morrisey's more anti-social, but I think Axl wins out in terms of sheer aggression and disrespect.

Axl Rose wasn't at the Rock N Roll hall of fame, what a tool.

But...but...Three dog is dead, I personally saw to it.

Never cared for GNR, not even when all my friends were raving about this hot new group wayyyy back in the 80's, but it does seem to go a bit too far.
I thought that was Tupoc or however they spell that name.

Anyways GNR have a couple ok songs.

Whole pettiness of it really is sad. T-shirts....really?

i always thought that GNR was overrated, people acted like they were rock gods, but personally i thought they were just another generic band.

Since I've never been a fan of them, I can't be a good judge on whether or not they were overrated, but I can tell you that back in the 80's they were very popular, and I was the only one of my friends that thought they svcked...but then I thought that of Mettalica, Motley Crue, Poison, Cinderrella etc. Always been more into psychedelic rock rather than those 80's hair bands.

Likewise; I guess I felt the same way about GnR in the '80s as I felt about Oasis in the '90s in that I didn't really "get it", but maybe I'm just a curmudgeon.
