So humanity is about to discover how the universe works. You can't stop science :bolt:

I thought it seemed cool but all the articles I've been reading say it's not really a big deal because they discovered exactly what they expected to discover and there's really nothing new. So yeah, kinda boring.

They have proved theories from years ago for the first time.

The work that went into this and the way the LHC works is incredible, and could longterm result in teleportation and near unlimited energy (theoretically)

According to the article, it has yet to actually be "discovered". They just think they may have finally found it. Cross your fingers.

"More work will be needed to be certain that what they see is a Higgs, however."

I believe that they have found it, but are unsure if the theoretical properties are real.

Well if it turns out to be only mostly like a Boson particle, then suddenly we have a few thousand scientific theories to revise and/or throw out the window.

So, now we wait for confirmation. Nonetheless, this is really exciting.

Read this and it is definitely interesting. There will no doubt be controversy over it and plausibly re-writing several if not hundreds of scientific ideas and principles. Atleast this is more exciting then those foolish scientists decreeing Pluto was no longer a planet. hmph

Haahahah this is good days. Give it.... a few decades, but if this is for real there will be a lot of innovations in science. What? Who can say. Science pays for itself in the long run, you just need to let the people work in peace and give them their damn money. Look at the moon launch program. Lots of the development that went into that trickled down into the civilian level. Bu anyways good news for all! :foodndrink:

Maybe now physicists will be able to convince people to stop calling it the "God Particle" and driving them crazy.

I've heard someone wanted to call it "that [censored]" particle, but obviously couldn't. Hence the god moniker. Hahahah.

It's basically the particle that everything else came from. It's where matter gets its mass from. It helps us to understand the origin of and evolution of the universe.

And just before we make that ultimate discovery on December 21, 2012, the world will explode. :ahhh:
