Plus on the vampire side serana says that she is going to have "words" with a certain thrall if he is wrong.
If this happened at the end of the dawnguard quest line that would be great! If she did that it would make me like her even more.

Oh yeah, Serana would be among my favorite NPC's in the game if that happened.
I was honestly expecting that to happen by the end. There was all that talk of 'trusting no one' and she was just so unnaturally normal. Surely, I thought, this is all part of some subtle act of hers. I was really excited for the reveal.
But no, she was just upset that her father valued an ideal more than her.

Have you noticed every Dawnguard thread invariably turns to being about Serana?
No, seriously, though I think that it was necessary to have Serana NOT be a crazy monster because it's one of the features of the Elder scrolls EVERYBODY has a good side.

"Good side" and vampires do not really mix. While I don't believe all vampires are evil(even Harkon's plan to block out the sun was not evil, merely unethical), I must confess Serana could of had some parental issues for being locked away, but not to the extent that it was shown. She could of explained the details on how her parents drifted apart and such, which some are made to feel for her. But in truth, she should of caused the drift, or perhaps been affected so much by it, that she herself turned into a power-hungry vampire who sought to commit patridice.
For RP purposes, the player could be so negatively affected by her betrayal at the end of the Dawnguard story, that it would make them run around Skyrim slaying all kinds of vampires.
But what most bamboozled me about Serana is how after several thousand years of isolation and sensory deprivation she gets up, dusts herself off and carries on as if nothing happened. You don't spend four eras locked in a tomb without going a little crazy, believe me, I know.
I don't want to discredit the developers, but the least I would of done is add a follower NPC that would accompany the player from the fort to the cavern, where they believe he would be a major character only to find him die in a scripted death, being food for a blood-thirst Serana as the tomb closes him and her in where there is no way for the player to interfere until it opens.
Then a bloodied Serana returns to her senses after draining the poor guy dry.

Serana should have been: Blood-thirsty, backstabbing, sensual manipulative power-hungry vampire woman(like my female vampire) who turned that way because of parental issues.
Serana turned out to be: Young girl, [censored] by Molag Bal, having parental issues, cries about it.
