I'm okay with that.

Boo. Get out of here, you heretic!

I spent an hour today trying to figure out which old RPG to buy first. I still haven't decided. :P

In a perfect world I'd have already dropped a ton of money on GoG's classics, but I just haven't been able to buy anything unless it's on Steam. I just like everything in one place.
I kind of agree with this, though I have purchased a few titles of GoG.

Someone needs to make a bit of software that can store all your accounts for whichever digital download sites you belong to, making it easy to access and install your purchases without needing everybody's exclusive tools.

Gog is Welsh slang for people from north Wales. As a southerner this displeases me.

Atal eich mochyn deheuol tong.

I've never heard of this place until now, interesting.

Are you veering toward any in particular?

Grimrock looks good.

The only way to use PayPal where I live is to sign up at a specific bank, and apply for it through them. I already have an account there, but I've yet to apply to be able to use the account for PayPal transactions. I don't know when I'll have time to arrange it. :( When I do, Grimrock will be among my first purchases.

Isn't it possible to add installed programs to the steam library?

You hadn't heard of GOG, or Wales?

If the former, check it out. It's got some awesome games.

To be perfectly honest, I like the features, but not enough to want to start using it to buy anything that I could get from Steam. I think a whole lot of people just don't want to use more than one service unless absolutely necessary. Maybe if I end up taking a big break from gaming at some point in the future, then when I return I might make the switch, but as it stands? Unless GoG starts offering Divinity (the state of being, not the game) as a download for $9.99, I'll stick with Steam.

While I probably won't buy any of their new games, one of these days I'm going to play through half their old library.
I have some older DOS games on Steam (the X-Com series), and I find they don't work well running them from Steam anyway. Whether GoG or Steam, all my DOS games go straight to my DOSBox frontend.

I'm a little peeved that Steam decided it would be a good idea to remove some unused music files from their version of X-Com, so I can't use the MT-32 music. GoG is definitely preferred for older titles.

Not sure, but if I'm doing all the work to add things in manually then I might as well just use separate programs. I want something that I can actually manage things from, not just access shortcuts. Something that'll download, install, uninstall, manage any patches, allow me to access the various stores, etc.

I've got the old DOOMs on Steam, and they are a hassle to play, to say the least.

After being reminded how poor a service PayPal actually is, I've decided to go ahead and get a credit card. I'll have to freeze it in giant ice cubes between game purchases, but other than that it seems like the best option available to me.

South Africa is really strict about cross-border/currency transactions. Because GOG uses a foreign currency (USD) for all transactions, I can't use debit for those, only credit.
