Grinding to level 81, Tips?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 2:55 pm

Title says it. Anyone who has experience in grinding levels past 50 have any advice? I'm primarily mage and I want to get this guy to level 81 legitimately.

No,sorry and it doesn't make any sense, neither is it fun becouse there is no high level content.Maybe Dawnguard will provide some challenge for high lvl chars but doubt it.I think it will take a long,long....long long time to reach lvl 81 without the Oghma glitch.

Oghma Infinium glitch
this, to do it legit would be...time consuming. the easiest are conjuration, sneak, illusion, the armor skills, block. The hard ones would be speech, lockpicking, and whatever weapon skill you don't use.

Really i don't think it would be worth it because most of the skills are useless without perkss :/

Well I guess I could just RP that the Oghma Infinium has enough to teach me everything about anything instead of the standard +5 per skillset.

Great tip: dont.

Nothing will be a challenge whatsoever when you have 30+ levels on it. You may find your experience stales out. YMMV- but i suspect stale character syndrome is why so many people are concerned if dawnguard will be catered to the upper echelon levels.

How would a level 1 fair against a draugr wight? Same variance. I suppose if you just love the game for its scenery then use OI book glitch, thats easy enough.

I did all the skills I care about the legitimate way, and Oghma'd the rest (in the process in doing so) because to level them the right way was of no interest for me. Like I'm not going to spend days and days collecting bugs and flowers just so my character can become more powerful. The point is to do what is most enjoyable for you.

I did that glitch with multiple characters but it would cause some kind of glitch. So i just stopped and started doing everything the legit way.

lol@people thinking there's a difference between "Raising the skills I use legitimately and then Infinium cheating to max level" and Just going from 15 (min level to start Discerning the Transmundane) to 81.

It's fine if you want max level and don't want to grind it out, but don't try to contrive some reason why it's not cheating.

On Topic: For weapon skills, use the best, but untempered items. Higher-quality materials give a bonus the the XP earned.

For Crafting: Buy and harvest everything you can. Iron can be transmuted into Silver which can be transmuted into Gold. Make Gemed Rings and necklaces whenever possible (1.5)

For Magic: Get a set for each magic skill that reduces cost as low (Preferably to -100%) as possible.

Pickpocket: Actually really easy once you break the low-threshold. Target gems and jewelry specifically. Don't forget about pickpocket potions.

Lockpicking: The worst and easiest at once. There's no real way to powerlevel it. You just have to let it go up naturally. Investing (Wasting) Perks in the quick-pick abilities (Novice, Apprentice, Adept) makes it a bit less painful.

Armor Skills: Lots of HP, lots of big Mudcrabs.

That's all I can really think of that would be troublesome.

Pickpocket and reverse pickpocket increasing amounts of gold onto an NPC is a rather fast way to level it. I done this to get to 100 when I was testing the master perk. Having said that, I have yet to understand what people get from doing this whole "81" mess. Is it just for bragging rights? Because there is no achievement for it. Not that those things bare any meaning to start with.

I'm going to assume you have all of the magic skills maxed, since you're a mage.

If you can train pickpocket, then enchant yourself a set of fortify pickpocket and go to town on unsuspecting citizens. Pickpocketing large sums of gold will level that up fast. Don't know if reverse pickpocketing items will do though. Pickpocketing gold from skill trainers works great as well. You can also give stuff to companions, dismiss them, and pickpocket the stuff back.

For armor, just get hit a lot.

Sneak attack kills will raise sneak up extremely quickly.

You'll need to find a powerful/enduring enemy to train weapon skills, though. This is probably hardest if you're a pure mage.

Don't know of any good way to train speech legit besides selling things. I don't know if it's better to sell things one at a time instead of bulk, and if price matters.

Also, remember to get skill gain bonuses, from resting/spouse and the appropriate Birth Stone.

-Play as a mage with as many different types of magic as you can.
-Wear heavy armour and a shield.
-Lockpick and Sneak as much as possible.
-Smith, alchemize, and enchant AS YOU GO. If you're in a town, check out what they have, don't go farming for supplies.
-Collect everything and sell them in 1's. The more transactions the more your speech goes up I believe.

If you're not on pc like me, it's a way to get more perks.

I did it after 400 hours and at LVL 50 or so... got it up to lvl 79 and then got stuck... but someone on the forums gave me ALL the perks

WHICH means i did all that for nothing  :lmao:

For leveling up warrior skills you can use the follower/trainer exploit with the Companions.

Ok. I agree. However, I don't understand what that is directed to...really.

Not exactly legit but better than glitching. It can extend the life of a character. A small sense of accomplishment. RP purposes. Cus I felt like it. Couple reasons I guess

In Oblivion, I made a character that was maxed out in everything, BEFORE doing any quests. This was because of the funky leveling system. Then I could do what ever, at least that's what I thought. Turns out it was actually the most boring thing to play.
