Gundam Wing

Good reminder, a very good one. I'll have to get on that right away.

Edit
Holy hell! 400 dollars? I can't drop that kind of cash. Used ones are still going for 200+ wtf.

Is there anything special about it?

Not that I know of. Like many box sets of the time it's just all of the individual DVDs in a nice case.

I know that! But why is that one specific collection so expensive? If all it is, is a box. My mind is boggling at the sheer rip off. Maybe because it's out of production? I don't know, at any rate I would never have paid for those. I was just... boggled. I'll get the far more reasonably priced ones, which must have lots of stock as soon as I get a chance.

Edit
Also I have Endless Waltz already, it's a fantastic movie.

On a random tangent my first avatar on these forums was heavy arms custom firing his four mini guns.

I have the whole Gundam Wing series on DVD :) (IIRC at the time I bought it I think it cost me a total of about $90 or so for the whole series)

I also have 08th MS Team on DVD and have watched the original Gundam Gundam series, Mobile Suite Gundam 00, and (though I'm somewhat ashamed to say) I have the live action movie G-savior. I've watched bits and pieces of the other series as well.

Anime Legends cases are the bane of my existence. They're the worst cases ever. Still, only way to get many of Bandai's titles at a fair price.

08th Mobile Suit Team was very good (9.5/10), 00 was good (8/10), Gundam Seed was pretty good (8/10). Seed Destiny svcked, it had potential though. (6/10). The 00 movies is an atrocity 0/10.

Yeah, I've been paying extra for old releases of series just to avoid Anime Legends. I'll probably have to go with them for Cowboy Bebop though.

Apparently I've got that ridiculously expensive box set. My brother and I got it a long time ago and I sure as hell know we wouldn't have paid much for it. And now its expensive. Go figure.

I just buy anime legends and then stick the DVDs in m-lock cases I buy separately. Solves the issue of the bad design of the anime legends case.

It's been like 5 years since I've watched anything dubbed, not heard the Gundam WIng dub since Toonami

Makes my ears hurt now :P

Opposite for me, I can't stand the Japanese. It's such a high pitched sounding language most of the time. Gives me a headache, it probably wouldn't be so bad if I understood it. Not to mention being a writer, I'm sensitive to the subs. Said subs can be awkward and bad, bleh.

Edit
When your this invested in the English language, it just feels weird to watch things in anything but dubs if the option is available. Or it's done so well you want to hear the actual language spoken. The only time I can say I would like to hear the language from the top of my head is Apocalypto.

I think it depends on what I hear first. Sometimes I'll see a series or film in Japanese first and later I'll hear the English dub and think it just sounds wrong, and vice versa as well.

There's only been one character's dub in one series where I found it superior to the original. Even all the stuff I watched on Toonami dubbed, I can't stand to hear it dubbed anymore.

I think a big problem with it for me is that voice recycling (even in the same show!) is a much bigger problem for English dubs and that bothers me.

You mean that they have two DVDs layered on top of one another? That's the only flaw I see, much preferred to the boring spindle case of Clannad. :banghead:

I'm totally interchangeable there. 99% of the time I watch the Japanese version first, but I still like the dubs... I even prefer them if the acting isn't terrible (like NGE).

I tried watching this a few days ago. I really didn't like it. Not my kind of anime.

P.S. Isn't this what the anime thread is for? :)

Ahh I remember Gundam Wing---I watched every episode on Cartoon Network (back when CN was showing good shows). I always liked Wing Zero, Tallgesse and Deathsythe.

I liked heavy arms, it was funny how he was always destroying so much stuff he was running out of bullets and forced to fight with a giant knife. The other mecha get cool plasma blades but he goes with a little can opener.
