"It has bad graphics, therefore I'm not going to play&#3

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 10:52 pm

I must admit, the screens do look alot like SWTOR graphics. Why should all MMOs that were made after WoW have exactly the same graphics? It's what sets them apart. SWTOR has amazing graphics, albeit a bit cartoony, but gameplay wise the game is fantastic. Its a very unique game.

However, I dont want this game to be just another fantasy MMO. The graphics in the screens look good, id be happy to play the game with SWTOR graphics...

I'm looking forward to playing this game, as long as it has a tonne of content.

I dont like it when people go "oh why has it gone MMO, elder scrolls should always be kept single player because thats the law" Live with it.

when will people realize textures are the last thing graphic wise included in creating a game? we don't even have a release date, they might only have some small little plain playable atm.

It's not just the lackluster graphics.

It's the dismemberment of the lore.
The forced third-person perspective.
The unfamiliar combat system.
The lack of a proper radiant AI system (which has become a staple of the Elder Scrolls series Oblivion - on).
Flame Atronachs that look like Spawn.
PCs wearing Ordinator armor even though in Morrowind this was proven to be a crime punishable by death.
PCs walking around with katanas that resemble swords the Blades used as if they were in unlimited supply.
Contradictory landscape (Cyrodiil looks almost the same in the second era?)
Molag Bal attempting to take over Tamriel, yet no word has been spoken of this even unto the fourth era.
Dunmer, Argonians and Nords forming a pact as if their disdain for each other aren't present.
Themepark MMO inspirations.
Cutting off locations in the game for future DLC.

^I could go on and on.

"Graphics" does not mean the same thing as "Art Style"

I still play an old PSOne game called Vagrant Story, and think it has one of the best art styles I've ever seen in a game. I look at art styles like SWTOR's, Kingdom of Amalur's, and TES Online's, and I want to vomit. There's a huge difference.

I don't care if the game looks cartoony, but I hope there will be some pretty viewpoints and landscapes like TES is famous for(dive rock!). The game can still look pretty even with a cartoony art style.

Also judging from screenshots, I think they've done Elsweyr and Black Marsh justice. They look a tiny bit generic but they still are pretty.

The dismemberment of the lore. Ummm How?
The forced third-person perspective.
The unfamiliar combat system. I have a feeling if you play MMOs you can pick this up quickly
The lack of a proper radiant AI system (which has become a staple of the Elder Scrolls series Oblivion - on). It was in 2 of 5 Elder Scrolls games with numbers in it. That's not a staple yet.
Flame Atronachs that look like Spawn.
PCs wearing Ordinator armor even though in Morrowind this was proven to be a crime punishable by death. He could have been an NPC in that screenshot
PCs walking around with katanas that resemble swords the Blades used as if they were in unlimited supply. It's set 100 years in the past. They had Katanas in Morrowind. Not just The Blades used that style
Contradictory landscape (Cyrodiil looks almost the same in the second era?) Yes. How much has our geography changed in 100 years?
Molag Bal attempting to take over Tamriel, yet no word has been spoken of this even unto the fourth era.
Dunmer, Argonians and Nords forming a pact as if their disdain for each other aren't present. War makes for unusual allies?

I don't care about "bad" graphics, I care about graphics that do not remind me of TES at all. Hell even oblivion reminded me more of TES than this... I don't know, this feels extremely wrong to me

The big graphic issue is that the game is not in 1st person, what a joke if that is not an option.

THIS^^^

A CARTOONY TES GAME.,, it’s an insult! A colorfull monstruosity!!! Yes, it’s hurts the eyes. And destroy the hearts! I feel sorry by Todd and the real ES team. Zenimax Online are not capable of capture the essence of the game. I have only recognice an Ordinator and a Kagouti from a dozen screens. Not even a single classic armor! No glass. No evony. WTF!!! This is not TES! TES IS BETTER THAN THAT!!!

Ok, this is really upsetting me..
When I first heard of an Elder Scrolls MMO, I thought "wow, Skyrim in mmo-form! Nnniiice!!"
And we get served this crap?? This is NOT what ANYONE could possibly want from a TES game?? It's got NO TES feel at all!

The unfamiliar combat system. I have a feeling if you play MMOs you can pick this up quickly

And as a comment to this. That's not the point. The combat system is unfamiliar to the traditional TES one.
What TES Online should have been is Skyrim 2.0. The EXACT same game mechanics, battle system, 1st person view, only in a much larger scale. That's about the one thing they seem to be doing right..

There's a reason MMOs opt for the skill-bar; because it allows quick access to spells and attacks without requiring going through menus, as well as set moves and combinations being MUCH easier to balance. Those things aren't issues in single-player games.

They're also not an issue in an MMO if you think and have a true vision of what this could be. Hotbars aren't the problem, it's hotkey combat that is the problem. Cool-down, auto-attack, etc.

this guy gets it

He gets nothing, when he completely misunderstands the problem. Especially since SKYRIM-ESQUE COMBAT HAS BEEN DONE IN MMOS BEFORE! IT IS NOT A NEW THING!

You're using logic. Stop it.

Right, it's not a TES game unless I can spam, spam and spam s'more, right?

It could be set after 2E 896. The year Tiber Septim changed it from a jungle to a forest.

Vagrant Story = top 10 RPGs ever made. Maybe top 10 games ever made. Horrible menu, horrible load times, super old system, yet completely playable today and well worth replaying the New Game +

I agree, SWTOR kiddy art and TES Online's art (basicallyl SWTOR with no lasers) is laughably bad.

the way they describe it sounds like its not going to be so traditional, its more along the same evolution of that system that guild wars 2 has going for it.,
