Then why release this OLD game in the first place?

why does anyone re-release a game? Simple to make more money off of it.

Then why release this OLD game in the first place? You kinda contradict yourself there, buddy.

Heck, they can even contract someone to make the new weapons for them. And, really, it would cost them close to nothing.

To make money and make it more accessible to people.

Agreed, doom3 needs new guns. It needs something!

Pistol and shotgun need to be worked on, they need more omph! (more recoil, sounds, skins etc) All the other weapons were fine.
Also Doom3 should get Ressurection of Evils Double barrel shottie. sixy gun.

This is why I said to make the gun sounds much stronger and meatier. Also, I don't mind the pistol, but can they at least change the shotgun to look more like the Doom 3 Alpha but with higher poly number?! Or is that too hard to do John Carmack?!

There was no "Doom 3 Alpha" so stop posting such stuff. There was an illegally leaked (i.e., stolen) build that was done for E3 demoing and iD never did find out who did it, at least according to interviews with Carmack and others at the time.

The guns sounds were fine, as I said. I think there may be some issues with different sounds setups, though, which is why they'll need to make sure that the BFG edition has full 5.1 compatibility, including hardware such as gaming headsets and all sound cards. The original had issues with various hardware.

By the way, the same thing is true for input (i.e., issues). The original doesn't include mouse button support for anything beyond 5 buttons, and not even Logitech's software fixes the issue (i.e., you cannot create a profile that binds keys to the other buttons because the Doom 3 engine seems to block the software and the button key bindings are not recognized in the game).

Doom 3 is not going to get any new guns, in fact if you even think that the BFG edition will have new guns you are stupid. There is not going to be any new content besides "The Lost Mission". There is a reason why it is called "Doom 3". It is the exact same game, but with better graphics. However they could put in the Double Barrel since it is now going to be on the same disc/game.

They want to re-release the game to get more customers. They are also fixing/changing a few things. They got a lot of complaints in the original through forums like this one and they wanted to make it a little more likable to those users. For instance, people were saying that it was too tough. So they make it easier by making it so there is a armor mounted flashlight so you always have your hands free.

(I for one am not getting it, because I believe that the original is fun and you make it easier and it will lose the Doom 3 charm. A part of Doom 3 was the fact that it was hard, with this armor mounted flashlight it is ruining the game by making it too easy.)

Yeah, i'm one of the weirdos who like the original flashlight too. Since it was a toggle button (atleast on PC) switching between it and a gun was easy and quick enough. And you mostly found civilian zombies and imps in pitch-black places, one who did little damage and the other who shouted "Here i am!" by throwing fireballs :hehe:

I'm glad I am not the only one who thinks so. It would be way too easy with the armor mounted light. (Please don't tell me you are going to be able to use a flashlight in Hell because of it...)

The weapon number is fine as it is - and I think some (I'm looking at you, machine gun) should be taken away.

Only if the shotgun is made more effective at long range.

Can we have a redesigned Shotgun to look more like the DOOM 3 Alpha Shotgun?

Well they did say that they will have reworked sounds for all the weapons... *here's hoping the pistol and shotgun sound more powerful* As to the users who think everyone has surround sound... not everyone has surround sound and if your kissing up to id Software. Fine.... but id Software makes their mistakes too. The sound design in DOOM 3 could have been better... the weapons sounded TOO weak for the job. TOO WEAK. You hear me?! YOU HEAR ME?!

But I know there will be some smart-ass user saying to me and other DOOM fans...

"If you play with 5.1 Surround Sound then it will be great! HURH HURH HURH!"

I don't think people understand the kind of world we live in today.

We live in a world that has a bad economy....

One of the reasons we love this new DOOM game.... it's going to be 40 dollars.... Now really?! Surround sound?! That's going to cost a lot of money now-a-days.... I hate how rich snobs keep insisting on telling us to have surround sound. Don't get me wrong I LOVE Surround Sound... but it's so damn expensive.....

I like Doom3's sound in stereo speakers just fine. The only weapon I thought sounded too weak was the pistol, but I always saw it as a silenced pistol anyway, because I for one, would want my pistol silenced. I would just get annoyed with the loud shots pointlessly ringing.

Hm... I suppose the plasma rifle needed a different sound too, but other then that the sound in Doom3 was great on stereo speakers.

I'm not saying id did a perfect job, I'm just saying there was nothing bad enough to complain about :P

+1
I only used the standard shotgun in Doom3 when out of ammo for the other guns. In the original Dooms, it was exactly the opposite.
