I hate the Archmage Robes

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 3:06 am

Hey guys. While the Archmage Robes look pretty cool, it's a completely different style than my Breton battlemage should be using. Is there any way I can take the enchantment on them (15% all spells, +100 magicka) and put them on unenchanted robes.

15% on all spells sounds like a unique one-of-a-kind enchantment, but that's fine. All I really need is destruction and conjuration, the two I use most.

Where can I find unenchanted robes that actually look cool?

No u can't use the enchanment on any other robes and no u wont find a lot of unenchanted robes in this. The only ones I can think of are novice robes and trust me those get old quick.

The Thalmor robes are the best but u won't be able to find unenchanted versions of the chest piece though.

What u should do is give up on robes and just wear armor. lol Its what I did.

How the heck can we know what looks cool to you? You might enjoy running around in a chef's hat and tunic for all we know.

It's a well established strategy now, maxing out Enchanting/taking the master perk and then enchanting head/body/neck/finger slots with -25% to casting cost to your choice of 2 magic schools. Making it essentially free to cast spells from these schools.

There is literally no point in enchanting un-enchanted robes... Do it on armour.

True. Robes took and back seat in this game.

Radient Raiments has some good stuff. They have College Robes unenchanted which look good, as well as the Mourner's clothes. Personally I just found clothes I liked and enchanted those myself instead of going with legit robes.

How would you know what looks cool to me? You could start by realizing me asking for unenchanted robes and assuming that meant I was looking for unenchanted robes. I also know about that exploit, but why anybody would use that is beyond me.

Thanks, can't believe I forgot about that place. Haven't even been to Solitude yet with this character. Game's huge.

I go more for aesthetics than anything. Armor might make more sense to be the most powerful, but robes make more sense for the character I'm playing. I might make daedric once I get all the things needed for the atronach forge though.

My work around for ugly robes was to use armor gauntlets, boots and a helmet I like with my own enchanted robes. I particularly like plate steel gauntlets on my mage when casting spells in first person camera, they look nifty with different effects on them. After a bit of OTT smithing on the 3 armor pieces I didnt have to worry about my armor rating as betweent he armor and casting skin spells I could get near to or hit the cap. And certain robes or clothes actually go quiet well with gauntlets visualy.

Maybe this enchantment becomes available in future DLC who knows :) but i agree it would be cool if there where more unenchanted
versions of paticular clothing like the hooded black magerobe , but again im sure theres more too come

Yeah the lack of robes with good enchants is what put me off using them more. I mean some of the ones you find are pretty nice visually, like that purple one you get as part of a quest or the nice dark blue robes that most mages are running around in. But they all have crap enchantments when compared to "proper" college based robes. Its a bit of a downer.

Erm... sorry, but they look awesome.
They are simple, unique, fitting and good looking.
Not like most of today anime-based-over-the-top crap.

Thats your opinon. Imo they look idiotic as the archmages robes look like a poncho with tassles. As I said I prefer the blue robes that the court mages have. Never mentioned anything about anime

If you're PC, the Psijic Monk robes on Steam Workshop are pretty nice. As long as you don't mind breaking some immersion.

Where do you find un-enchanted Novice Robes? I've found un enchanted novice hoods called mages hood and un enchanted expert robes called collage robes but I have yet to find any other ones un enchanted. I like the novice robes and would love to find a set I could put my own enchantments on.

If you're on PC I recommend the http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=2092 which allows you to craft the archmage robe in a lot of different styles, as well as make all sorts of mage and daedric robes. It will also let you craft a Morokei mask or circlet.

Nightingale mesh for Archmage's robe. That is so uncool.

Well, don't make one then. I made mine as a Thalmor robe.

The item itself is incredible. They just don't look right on my character. They looked cool on a Dunmer (Savos) but they don't look right on my very high-class wizard type Breton. I like the looks for Novice/Adept robes better for him.

What type of enchantment should I use once I reach 100 enchantment on an unenchanted robe to get the 'closest to' enchantment to match the Archmage robes?

I don't understand. If you hate the Archmage robes that much then why bother wearing it? Wear something else to your likings.

Get your enchantments up to 100 so you can start making your own mage outfit to your likings.

I do admit that I think the enchantments for the Archmage robes are a bit under powering. That's why I have thehttp://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=4427 mode installed.

Okay,

So I just created a mod for myself. It's unenchanted version of the non hooded archmage's robe.

It looks better on humans than the hooded version.

I'll upload on steam workshop, if anyone is interested. Let me know.

Because player enchantments don't do [censored] compared to the arch mage robes. 12% cost decrease to all schools + 150% magicka regen is unmatched. For whatever stupid reason Beth decided the player cannot enchantment a magicka regen anywhere close to what robes come with in game.

The best the player could do is either two 25% cost decreases or two 12% cost decrease + 50% magicka regen.

Emperor's robes and Wedding dress are the most unique ones. And as long as you kill all the priests you will also not find anyone else using Vaermina robes.
